The Covid-19 pandemic has resulted in 550 million cases and 6.3 million fatalities, with the virus severely affecting the lungs and cardiovascular system. A study utilizes a VGG16 model adapted for a 12-Lead ECG Image database to assess the disease's impact on cardiovascular health. The research addresses the challenge of data imbalance by experimenting with different training approaches: using balanced datasets, imbalanced datasets, and class weight adjustments for imbalanced datasets. These models are designed for a three-class multiclass classification of ECG images: Abnormal, Covid-19, and Normal categories. Performance evaluations, including accuracy scores, confusion matrices, and classification reports, show promising results. The model trained on a balanced dataset achieved a 90% accuracy rate. When trained on an imbalanced dataset, the accuracy dropped to 82%. However, with class weight adjustments, the accuracy rebounded to 87%. The study proves that the adapted VGG16 model can effectively handle both balanced and imbalanced datasets. Further testing and enhancements can be carried out using additional datasets, making it a valuable tool for understanding the cardiovascular implications of Covid-19. © 2024 by SCITEPRESS–Science and technology Publications, Lda.

This paper investigates the performance of dual-hop UAV-assisted communication system, employing a decode and forward relay architecture. The system utilizes Terahertz (THz) communication in the primary hop and Visible Light Communication (VLC) in the secondary hop. We conduct a thorough analysis by deriving closed-form expressions for end-to-end bit error rate (BER). Furthermore, a Monte Carlo approach will be employed to generate best fitting curves and validate the numerical expressions with simulation results. The outcomes of this work offer valuable insights into the feasibility and limitations of UAV-assisted THz-VLC systems. © 2024 IEEE.

Rainfall plays a significant role in managing the water level in the *** unpredictable amount of rainfall due to the climate change can cause either overflow or dry in the *** individuals,especially those in the agricultural sector,rely on rain *** rainfall is challenging because of the changing nature of the *** area of Jimma in southwest Oromia,Ethiopia is the subject of this research,which aims to develop a rainfall forecasting *** estimate Jimma's daily rainfall,we propose a novel approach based on optimizing the parameters of long short-term memory(LSTM)using Al-Biruni earth radius(BER)optimization algorithm for boosting the fore-casting accuracy.N ash-Sutcliffe model eficiency(NSE),mean square error(MSE),root MSE(RMSE),mean absolute error(MAE),and R2 were all used in the conducted experiments to assess the proposed approach,with final scores of(0.61),(430.81),(19.12),and(11.09),***,we compared the proposed model to current machine-learning regression models;such as non-optimized LSTM,bidirectional LSTM(BiLSTM),gated recurrent unit(GRU),and convolutional LSTM(ConvLSTM).It was found that the proposed approach achieved the lowest RMSE of(19.12).In addition,the experimental results show that the proposed model has R-with a value outperforming the other models,which confirms the superiority of the proposed *** the other hand,a statistical analysis is performed to measure the significance and stability of the proposed approach and the recorded results proved the expected perfomance.

Internet of Things(IoT)defines a network of devices connected to the internet and sharing a massive amount of data between each other and a central *** IoT devices are connected to a network therefore prone to *** management tasks and network operations such as security,intrusion detection,Quality-of-Service provisioning,performance monitoring,resource provisioning,and traffic engineering require traffic *** to the ineffectiveness of traditional classification schemes,such as port-based and payload-based methods,researchers proposed machine learning-based traffic classification systems based on shallow neural ***,machine learning-based models incline to misclassify internet traffic due to improper feature *** this research,an efficient multilayer deep learning based classification system is presented to overcome these challenges that can classify internet *** examine the performance of the proposed technique,Moore-dataset is used for training the *** proposed scheme takes the pre-processed data and extracts the flow features using a deep neural network(DNN).In particular,the maximum entropy classifier is used to classify the internet *** experimental results show that the proposed hybrid deep learning algorithm is effective and achieved high accuracy for internet traffic classification,i.e.,99.23%.Furthermore,the proposed algorithm achieved the highest accuracy compared to the support vector machine(SVM)based classification technique and k-nearest neighbours(KNNs)based classification technique.

Detecting 3D objects is a core task for autonomous vehicles (AVs), as it allows them to drive safely and responsibly. To detect objects quickly and accurately, AVs have LiDAR sensors, which can capture 3D data from 360° in various conditions, including harsh weather. However, LiDAR sensors may face a spoofing attack via laser satirizing. This type of attack does not require physical contact with the sensors nor does it need to change them. It can mislead AVs by providing them with false information, which can then put passengers, pedestrians, and other vehicles in danger. Therefore, this paper proposes a model utilizing machine learning (i.e., decision trees) to protect AVs from such attacks. The performance of the proposed model indicates that it can detect LiDAR spoofing attacks. © 2022 IEEE.

With the rising competition among pharmaceutical companies, the current drug supply chain market has become more competitive with high-quality product segments. The rapid growth of internet pharmacies has made it more difficult to standardize drug safety throughout in complex distributed supply chain networks. There is a high chance of introducing counterfeit drugs which are almost the same as the original pharmaceuticals. Due to the lack of transparency the possibility of tampering with drugs in the current manual and web-based pharmaceutical systems is extremely high. Throughout the past recent years, these counterfeit drugs were recognized as the one of major worldwide problems. This situation is worse in developing countries. The unavailability of verifying the legitimacy of drug suppliers and poor mechanisms to trace the drugs were identified as critical points that need to be resolved. SUPPLYDECK comes as a solution for the critical scenario mentioned. This solution addresses the above problems using blockchain technology, as a distributed digital ledger that ensures transparency, traceability, and security. This can show promise for solving some global supply chain management problems using smart contracts and user authentication along with IoT technology and machine learning concepts that are critically examined with this potential application. © 2022 IEEE.

The rapid growth of mobile applications has led to serious security challenges, resulting in vulnerabilities. Automation in security testing methods is becoming popular, with the Automated Vulnerability Detection methodology being one such method. This work introduces a hybrid approach for detecting vulnerabilities in Android applications, combining static and dynamic analysis. The approach is accessible to both general users and expert developers, allowing for the identification of ingrained vulnerabilities in the source code. The hybrid model’s effectiveness is assessed in various applications with different security flaws, providing a solid solution for automated vulnerability detection in Android applications, enhancing security and resilience in the mobile ecosystem.

Combinatorial test suite generation is a critical aspect of software testing, particularly for systems with variable-strength interactions. Traditional optimization algorithms often struggle to efficiently generate minimal test suites while maintaining coverage. This research introduces the Fuzzy Adaptive Sine Cosine Algorithm (FASCA), a variant of the Sine Cosine Algorithm (SCA), tailored specifically for optimizing variable-strength combinatorial test suite generation. FASCA incorporates fuzzy adaptation mechanisms to dynamically balance exploration and exploitation, addressing the limitations of standard SCA in handling diverse interaction strengths. Experimental evaluations demonstrate that FASCA significantly reduces test suite size and execution time compared to the original SCA, offering a more efficient solution for combinatorial test optimization. These results highlight FASCA's potential as a robust tool for enhancing the efficiency of software testing processes. © 2024 IEEE.

Given maize’s significant role as a staple crop, it becomes imperative to carry out precise crop yield prediction to ensure food security. This research employs machine learning algorithms to analyze historical data related to maize crop yields, with the aim of developing a predictive model. The outcome of this study can serve as a valuable tool for pre-harvest planning and measuring crop production per unit of land area. The dataset utilized in this research spans from 2010 to 2021 and was sourced from Ethiopia’s Central Statistical Agency. Three machine learning regression algorithms—Logistic Regression, XGBoost, and Random Forest—were employed to design the predictive model. After data preparation and preprocessing, a total of 436,358 records were used for model development. The models were further trained with reduced features using principal component analysis (PCA). The experimental results demonstrate that the Random Forest algorithm, trained with a reduced number of features through PCA, yielded superior performance, with a lower error rate and a high R2 score of 0.98. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.

Photovoltaic cells otherwise known as solar cells convert sunlight into electricity. However, there are militating issues against optimal performance of this technology. Traditional methods of resolving these issues have not yielded satisfactory results. This study aims to resolve the abovementioned issues using a novel Dronalyse, a drone-based method for detecting and analyzing photovoltaic faults. The Tshwane University of technology, Soshanguve South Campus, South Africa hosted the data collection team; DJI Mavic 3 Thermal's high-resolution thermal and visual imaging capabilities were used for the data collection. The data collected comprised Hotspots images, Cracks images, and Shadings images. The following services were employed to perform the tasks; AWS IoT Core, Amazon S3, AWS Lambda, Amazon Rekognition, OpenCV on Lambda, Amazon SageMaker, Amazon QuickSight, AWS SNS (Simple Notification Service), and AWS DynamoDB Database. Extensive analysis of the thermal data reveals the anomalies as indicative of faults in the solar cells of PV module.
