Visual inspection of dual-energy X-ray radiographic images of cabin baggage requires high performance, but is hindered by various challenges such as low target prevalence, variability in target visibility, possible presence of multiple targets, and security personnel fatigue and inattention. Artificial intelligence (AI) techniques, particularly deep convolutional neural networks (CNNs), have shown promise in improving the automatic detection of explosives, even with low-resolution radiographic images, especially in high baggage throughput scenarios. In this paper, we focus on the detection of detonators as components of improvised explosive devices. The proposed approach involves comparing two experiments implemented in a deep CNN architecture using TensorFlow and Keras libraries. In the first experiment, raw dual-energy radiographic images without any enhancement were used. The second experiment includes three methods for contrast enhancement and feature extraction: the Contrast Limited Adaptive Histogram Equalization (CLAHE) method, the wavelet transform-based method, and the mixed CLAHE RGB-Wavelet method. In the latter two methods, Haar, Db2, Coif2, and Sym2 mother wavelet functions at two levels (HH and HL) were employed. The analysis of results focuses on a comparative study of performance measures such as accuracy, precision, recall, and F1 score. It was found that the preprocessing methods used in experiment 2, for the two evaluated classes (detonator and no detonator), achieved higher accuracy compared to the raw radiographic images used in experiment 1 (98.08%). The highest accuracies in experiment 2, with a value of 100%, were obtained with the CLAHE method (green channel in grayscale, blue channel in grayscale, and RGB channels) and the wavelet transform method with Haar mother wavelet at two levels HL © 2024 IEEE.

This study presents a novel method that utilizes Harris Hawks Optimization combined with dynamic colormap visualization to enhance the quality of lung CT scan segmentation. The Harris hawks optimization algorithm is a swarm-based method used to enhance multi-level thresholding for image segmentation, hence facilitating the identification of regions of interest (ROIs) in medical images. An analysis of different colormap schemes including Accent, Gray, Hot, Inferno and Jet, was conducted to improve the visualization of segmented images. The experimental results show the efficiency of the HHO algorithm from the segmentation accuracy perspective as compared to the conventional optimization techniques using publicly available datasets from the Cancer Imaging Archive. In particular, the average SSIM was above 98% while the Jaccard Index was more than 90%. The expert evaluation confirms earlier findings that using the HHO algorithm with the Inferno colormap, particularly with four or five thresholds, achieves optimal image clarity and diagnostic value for clinical purposes. In addition, the method provides a promising way to enhance diagnostic precision and treatment strategies for lung diseases, making it highly valuable for pulmonary healthcare, particularly in urgent scenarios such as pandemics.

Various machine learning techniques have been proposed to improve the effectiveness of Intrusion Detection systems (IDS), where IDS is one of the important parts of the network that functions to maintain network security. With its various capabilities and reputation, Support Vector Machine (SVM) is often applied in various classification cases. However, it has constraints with accuracy and computing time when it comes to data that has large dimensions. Utilizing metaheuristic techniques is one possibility that researchers can use to solve this problem. To overcome this, in this study, we will evaluate the performance of SVM for the IDS case by utilizing the metaheuristic Grey Wolf Optimization (GWO) algorithm. From the experiments with three different iteration models, the best results of the combination of SVM and GWO were found in a model with 10 GWO iterations and 10 populations with an accuracy of 97.47% using 15 features out of 48 original features of the UKM-IDS20 dataset.

This study addresses the critical aspect of data collection within Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs), which consist of autonomous, compact sensor devices deployed to monitor environmental conditions. These networks have limited processing capacity, storage, short-range communication capabilities, and constrained battery power. A primary challenge in WSN s revolves around data gathering, particularly when employing static sinks, leading to premature energy depletion in nodes near these sinks. Integrating mobile collectors introduces the potential for energy conservation by shortening data routes. This article introduces three distinct algorithms for optimizing data collection in WSN s. Our approach involves an in-depth analysis of diverse strategies to mitigate packet collisions and facilitate the retransmission of lost packets. Our findings underscore the considerable impact that packet collisions can exert on the overall network performance during data gathering within wireless sensor networks. Through empirical exploration and analysis, we highlight the significance of these algorithms in enhancing the efficiency, energy conservation, and reliability of data collection processes within WSNs. This research sheds light on these algorithms' vital role in addressing the pressing challenges of data gathering and network performance optimization in wireless sensor networks.

This study investigates the effectiveness of Retrieval-based Voice Conversion (RVC) in detecting AI-generated Arabic speech across diverse linguistic contexts. The primary research questions address whether the RVC model can accurately differentiate between real and synthetic speech samples in various languages and its generalization capability across different linguistic contexts. Experimental evaluations show that the model achieves accuracies of 92% using Ensemble Learning (XGBoost and LightGBM), 93% with Meta Learning, and 90% with Neural Networks. Assessments encompass scenarios with real Arabic and English speech not included in training datasets, as well as different speakers across languages. The study contributes insights into the robustness and practical application of RVC for speech authentication.

With an increasing number of services connected to the internet,including cloud computing and Internet of Things(IoT)systems,the prevention of cyberattacks has become more challenging due to the high dimensionality of the network traffic data and access ***,researchers have suggested deep learning(DL)algorithms to define intrusion features through training empirical data and learning anomaly patterns of ***,due to the high dynamics and imbalanced nature of the data,the existing DL classifiers are not completely effective at distinguishing between abnormal and normal behavior line connections for modern ***,it is important to design a self-adaptive model for an intrusion detection system(IDS)to improve the detection of ***,in this paper,a novel hybrid weighted deep belief network(HW-DBN)algorithm is proposed for building an efficient and reliable IDS(***)model to detect existing and novel *** HW-DBN algorithm integrates an improved Gaussian–Bernoulli restricted Boltzmann machine(Deep GB-RBM)feature learning operator with a weighted deep neural networks(WDNN)*** CICIDS2017 dataset is selected to evaluate the *** model as it contains multiple types of attacks,complex data patterns,noise values,and imbalanced *** have compared the performance of the *** model with three recent *** results show the *** model outperforms the three other models by achieving a higher detection accuracy of 99.38%and 99.99%for web attack and bot attack scenarios,***,it can detect the occurrence of low-frequency attacks that are undetectable by other models.

Tracking a person with an onboard camera is a very difficult and perhaps technically impossible if one camera is used. In this regard, real-life projects use a series of cameras to achieve the task. The advent of camera installed drone technology has made it possible for researchers and designers to resolve the tracking issues of a single or multiple stagnant devices. This paper presents a method that makes it possible for a drone to recognize hand gestures as control mechanism and follow the person who control it. Furthermore, the method assists in drone object detection using an integrated depth camera that provides video capturing. The OpenCV and Tello were used in this project. A stabilized depth video is for use with current person trackers like the OpenCV tracker. The estimated Tello pose deduced from vision to stabilize the depth image by warping it to a virtual-static camera. This method allows the Tello to obtain not only the tracked person's position and orientation but also their full body pose, which can then be used, for instance, to recognize hand gestures and alter the Tello's behavior. This work has a potential of contributing or enhancing cutting-edge applications such as hands-free photography and videography.

Large Language Models (LLM) is a type of artificial neural network that excels at language-related tasks. The advantages and disadvantages of using LLM in software engineering are still being debated, but it is a tool that can be utilized in software engineering. This study aimed to analyze LLM studies in software engineering using bibliometric and content analysis. The study data were retrieved from Web of Science and Scopus. The data were analyzed using two popular bibliometric approaches: bibliometric and content analysis. VOS Viewer and Bibliometrix software were used to conduct the bibliometric analysis. The bibliometric analysis was performed using science mapping and performance analysis approaches. Various bibliometric data, including the most frequently referenced publications, journals, and nations, were evaluated and presented. Then, the synthetic knowledge method was utilized for content analysis. This study examined 235 papers, with 836 authors contributing. The publications were published in 123 different journals. The average number of citations per publication is 1.44. Most publications were published in Proceedings International Conference on Software engineering and ACM International Conference Proceeding Series, with China and the United States emerging as the leading countries. It was discovered that international collaboration on the issue was inadequate. The most often used keywords in the publications were "software design," "code (symbols)," and "code generation." Following the content analysis, three themes emerged: 1) Integration of LLM into software engineering education, 2) application of LLM in software engineering, and 3) potential and limitation of LLM in software engineering. This research addresses the escalating threats to industrial control systems by introducing a novel approach that combines deep learning for feature selection with a robust ensemble-based classification technique to enhance anomaly detection. Our method utilizes a tailored autoencoder architecture to efficiently select features, followed by a Random Forest classifier to ensure reliable and generalizable detection of anomalies. Evaluated on the HAI Security Dataset, the proposed approach demonstrates exceptional performance, with significant improvements in detecting anomalous activities in ICS. The results highlight the method’s potential to enhance ICS security by providing a scalable and adaptable framework that evolves with emerging threats. This study not only advances cybersecurity methodologies for industrial systems but also lays the groundwork for future research, emphasizing the need for innovative and effective security solutions in the face of evolving cyber challenges. © Bharati Vidyapeeth's Institute of computer Applications and Management 2024.

Internet of things (IoT) has been significantly raised owing to thedevelopment of broadband access network, machine learning (ML), big dataanalytics (BDA), cloud computing (CC), and so on. The development of IoTtechnologies has resulted in a massive quantity of data due to the existenceof several people linking through distinct physical components, indicatingthe status of the CC environment. In the IoT, load scheduling is realistictechnique in distinct data center to guarantee the network suitability by fallingthe computer hardware and software catastrophe and with right utilize ofresource. The ideal load balancer improves many factors of Quality of Service(QoS) like resource performance, scalability, response time, error tolerance,and efficiency. The scholar is assumed as load scheduling a vital problem inIoT environment. There are many techniques accessible to load scheduling inIoT environments. With this motivation, this paper presents an improved deerhunting optimization algorithm with Type II fuzzy logic (IDHOA-T2F) modelfor load scheduling in IoT environment. The goal of the IDHOA-T2F is todiminish the energy utilization of integrated circuit of IoT node and enhancethe load scheduling in IoT environments. The IDHOA technique is derivedby integrating the concepts of Nelder Mead (NM) with the DHOA. Theproposed model also synthesized the T2L based on fuzzy logic (FL) systemsto counterbalance the load distribution. The proposed model finds usefulto improve the efficiency of IoT system. For validating the enhanced loadscheduling performance of the IDHOA-T2F technique, a series of simulationstake place to highlight the improved performance. The experimental outcomesdemonstrate the capable outcome of the IDHOA-T2F technique over therecent techniques.
