Since observation on a quantum system may cause the system state collapse, it is usually hard to find a way to monitor a quantum process, which is a quantum system that continuously evolves. We propose a protocol that can debug a quantum process by monitoring, but not disturb the evolution of the system. This protocol consists of an error detector and a debugging strategy. The detector is a projection operator that is orthogonal to the anticipated system state at a sequence of time points, and the strategy is used to specify these time points. As an example, we show how to debug the computational process of quantum search using this protocol. By applying the Skolem-Mahler-Lech theorem in algebraic number theory, we find an algorithm to construct all of the debugging protocols for quantum processes of time-independent Hamiltonians.

This paper presents a Dielectric Resonator Antenna for multiband operations. The cylindrical shape is designed and fed through a microstrip feed line technique. The proposed design allows the antenna to operate at multiple frequencies in the range of 1.8-8 GHz. It is demonstrated through simulation that the Return Loss values occurred at 2.91 GHz, 4.39 GHz, 5.85 GHz and 7.3 GHz, respectively, having VSWR ≤ 2. It is also observed that the gain of proposed design is higher than the conventional patch antenna.

This paper investigates the problems of delay-dependent stability analysis and memory H∞ controller synthesis for a class of continuous-time Markovian jump linear systems(MJLSs) via an input-output(IO) approach. The generality lies in that the exactly known, partially unknown and uncertain transition rates are simultaneously incorporated into the defective mode information. It is first shown that the original system with time-varying delay can be reformulated by a new IO model through a process of two-term approximation and the stability problem of the original system can be transformed into the scaled small gain(SSG) problem of the IO model. Then, based on a Markovian Lyapunov-Krasovskii formulation of SSG condition together with some convexification techniques, the stability analysis and state-feedback H∞ controller synthesis conditions for the underlying MJLSs are formulated in terms of linear matrix inequalities. Simulation studies are provided to illustrate the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed analysis and design methods.

Nowadays, identification of persons has a great importance for information protection and access control. Thus, automatic person identification based on biometrics has become a focus of interest both for research and commercial purposes. Among the biometrics used, palmprint identification is one of the most stable and reliable technology. Some desirable properties such as uniqueness, stability, and non invasiveness make this technology suitable for highly reliable person identification. In this paper, a method is proposed based on Histogram of Oriented Gradients (HOG) descriptors for palmprint identification. This method utilized the fusion, at matching score level, of some classifiers (Radial Basis Function (RBF), Random Forest Transform (RTF) and Support Vector Machine (SVM)) to improve the performance in identification accuracy. Extensive experiments show the effectiveness of the proposed method with respect to the identification rate.

We previously proposed a passive mechanism as the link knee joint unit (LKJ) for a transfemoral prosthesis for stair ascent. The prototype allowed the experimental subjects to ascend stairs without the use of a handrail. In the present study, we modified the LKJ unit and developed further two designs of the LKJ unit. One has full knee extension function during the prosthetic stance phase (condition 1). The other design mechanically trades off the functional range of knee extension against stability of the LKJ unit (condition 3). In the stair ascent experiment with six able-bodied subjects, all subjects succeeded in ascending stairs with the three LKJ conditions without the use of a handrail. No difference was found in joint angels and joint moments of the intact and prosthetic legs among all LKJ conditions. However, subjective assessment for ease of LKJ extension during stair ascent showed that the participants felt easier to extend the LKJ unit in the condition 1 and 2 than the condition 3. It is suggested that the condition 1 or 2 is appropriate for prosthesis users who can ascend stairs with the LKJ unit. For prosthesis users who are not familiar with the LKJ unit, the condition 3 would be useful to learn how to use it.

Currently, multimedia data has become increasingly more important with the growth of the Internet. Images are one example of sharing across the internet, especially through social media applications. More specifically, nearly every website consists of a considerable amount of image data. Some pictures are stored in multiple resolutions to be displayed as desired. When the same image is stored in different resolutions, it is difficult to manage. This paper presents an algorithm for image coding in scalable resolution. The proposed method consists of an intra-prediction and reversible cellular automata. Intra-predication aims to reduce the data to be compressed and reversible cellular automata allows image data to increase or decrease to the desired resolution. For the performance evaluation, an 8-bit grayscale was experimented with using the proposed method and then compared with JPEG2000 and RCAGIC using PSNR and SSIM statistics. In this regard, the proposed method provides more promising results than RCAGIC and JPEG2000.
