The need for aerial platforms capable of sustained operation is critical in fields such as surveillance, agricultural monitoring, disaster response, and temporary telecommunication systems. Traditional unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) are hampered by limited battery capacity and inefficient energy utilization. This paper introduces an autonomous vertical flight drone tethered to a ground-based platform, which overcomes these limitations. The drone is designed to optimize its position and energy usage by harnessing wind currents, functioning similarly to a kite when conditions permit. This is enabled by a custom-designed autopilot system comprising both hardware and software tailored for this application. We detail the model identification process for three vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) drone systems, employing authentic data that measures lateral positional errors from the tether. Robust mixed sensitivity controllers are developed and implemented. The effectiveness of these controllers is validated through simulations showing their capability to handle uncertainties. Furthermore, the practical application and robust performance of the system are confirmed by a real-world case study, highlighting its potential in real operational environments. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

Human oversight can benefit scenarios with complex tasks, such as pallet docking and loading and unloading containers, beyond the current capabilities of autonomous systems without any failures. Furthermore, teleoperation systems allow remote control of mobile ground robots, especially with the surge of 5G technology that promises reliable and low latency communication. Current works research on exploring the latest features from the 5G standard, including ultra-Reliable Low-Latency Communication (uRLLC) and network slicing. However, these features may not be available depending on the Internet Service Provider (ISP) and communication devices. Thus, this work proposes a network architecture for the teleoperation of ground mobile robots in industrial environments using commercially available devices over the 5G Non-Standalone (NSA) standard. Experimental results include an evaluation of the network and End-to-End (E2E) latency of the proposed system. The results show that the proposed architecture enables teleoperation, achieving an average E2E latency of 347.19 ms.

Conventional graphs captures pairwise interactions;by contrast, higher-order networks (hypergraphs, simplicial complexes) are introduced to the interactions involving more parties, which has been rapidly applied to characterize a growing number of complex real systems. It becomes apparent that higher-order interactions give rise to new challenges for the rigorous analysis of dynamics on a higher-order network. In this paper, we study a series of Susceptible-infected-susceptible-type (SIS-type) diffusion processes with both indirect and direct pathways on a directed hypergraph. We start with a concrete setup where we choose a polynomial interaction function to describe how several agents influence one another over a hyperedge. Then, under this interaction function, we further extend the system and propose a bi-virus competing model on a directed hypergraph by coupling two single-virus models together. Finally, the most general model in this paper considers a general interaction function for both the single-virus and bi-virus cases. For the single-virus model, we provide a comprehensive characterization of the healthy state and endemic equilibrium. For the bi-virus setting, we further give the analysis of the existence and stability of the healthy state, dominant endemic equilibria, and coexisting equilibria. In this paper, we consider two finite mixture models (FMMs), with inverted-Kumaraswamy distributed components’ lifetimes. Several stochastic ordering results between the FMMs have been obtained. Mainly, we focus on three different cases in terms of the heterogeneity of parameters. The usual stochastic order between the FMMs have been established when heterogeneity presents in one parameter as well as two parameters. In addition, we have also studied ageing faster order in terms of the reversed hazard rate between two FMMs when heterogeneity is in two parameters. For the case of heterogeneity in three parameters, we obtain the comparison results based on reversed hazard rate and likelihood ratio orders. This paper presents a comprehensive Investigation of Satellite data for Monitoring Air quality through Remote sensing Technology tool (ISMART tool). Specifically, it utilizes data from the Sentinel-5 precursor (Sentinel-5p) Tropospheric Monitoring Instrument (TROPOMI) datasets to monitor the columnar surface of co gas across India, with a focus on high-pollution regions. After rigorous data processing, essential attributes were extracted to monitor the columnar CO level. Haversine formula is employed for specific area monitoring, Basemap is used to visualize the pollution levels and machine learning models (ARIMA, LSTM) for precise monitoring and forecasting. This research culminated in a user-friendly website, built with the Django framework, where users can easily identify pollution hotspots by inputting specific parameters. Ultimately, this paper underscores the cost-effectiveness and vast coverage advantages of remote sensing over traditional ground-level instruments, urging governments to harness this technology for timely interventions against pollution. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

This study aims to develop an interactive virtual tour based on Android with a first-person shooter approach to introduce the Adisutjipto Institute of Aerospace Technology (ITD Adisutjipto) virtually. This virtual tour utilizes an Artificial Intelligence (AI) agent as an intelligent guide who can answer questions and provide relevant information related to facilities and locations inside the ITD Adisutjipto building. The test results show that this virtual tour is effective and feasible to use, with a user satisfaction rate reaching 87.72%. This study contributes to the field of educational virtual technology by offering a more immersive and interactive experience. Users can easily explore the ITD Adisutjipto building virtually and obtain the information they need efficiently. This research is expected to be an innovative solution to introduce the ITD Adisutjipto to wider community, as well as support learning and research activities in the aerospace technology field.
