In the paper the stationary 2D inverse heat conduction problems are considered. To obtain an approximate solution of the problems three variants of the FEM with harmonic polynomials (Trefftz functions for Laplace equa...

This paper is the continuation of the earlier authors' paper, Romanowski and Cichori [1] and presents the two FEM models for prediction of the degradation of plain and reinforced concrete structures due to coupled mechanical and aggressive environment actions. The complete model and its simplified version are presented. TWo chemical deterioration mechanisms: chlorides diffusion and calcium dissolution and the influence of the moisture transport in concrete are considered. The usefulness of the proposed models have been verified by the example.

Some procedures of identification of cause-effect relationships of road incidents have been presented in the work. Features that characterize both road incidents and road incident locations were the subject of an analysis carried out in several experiments with the use of decision tree techniques. The recurrence of modelling results has been checked for various parameters of a decision tree in each experiment in multiple processing of data. Results turned out to be of two-way character. Some of them confirm current opinions about road incidents circumstances. However, there are also results that question these opinions.

Dynamic investigations of multimass discrete-continuous systems having variable moment of inertia are performed. The systems are torsionally deformed and consist of an arbitrary number of elastic elements connected by rigid bodies. The problem is nonlinear and it is linearized after appropriate transformations. It is shown that such problems can be investigated using the wave *** analytical considerations and numerical calculations are done for a two-mass system with a special case of boundary conditions.

In this paper the degradation of mechanically loaded plain concrete structures under two deterioration mechanisms: chlorides diffusion and calcium dissolution, with the influence of the moisture transport in concrete, are considered. It is assumed that the concrete behavior is initially isotropic and described by two scalar damage variables, independently for compression and tension loading conditions. The chemical degradation of concrete is described by means of an additional internal variable, named environmental damage. This damage variable consists with two internal variables which are the measure of deterioration of concrete caused by chloride and calcium ions actions. The usefulness of the proposed method of FE numerical analysis is verified by two examples.
The paper demonstrates a specific power series expansion technique used to obtain the approximate solution of the two-dimensional wave equation in some unusual cases. The solution for inhomogeneous wave equation, for ...

A radical change (Feenstra, Holmer, Tromans, Moos and Mieritz 2003) in manufacturing is starting to occur. The Rapid Manufacturing, which can be defined as "the use of an additive manufacturing process to construct parts that are used directly as finished products or components", is set to supersede many current uses of moulds and dies. Rapid Manufacturing (Wohlers 2003) is based on new additive manufacturing techniques that produce fully functional parts directly from a 3D CAD model without the use of tooling. The ambitious scope of the European Initiative CUSTOM-FIT, a Framework 6 Integrated Project, is to create a fully integrated system for the design, production and supply of individualized custom-products. Within the cases under study there are strong connections to sporting articles. This project is being funded by the European Commission over the next four years and a half and will become central to European research concerning Rapid Manufacturing (RM).
