This paper presents a thorough strategy to improve social control of food safety through the application of cutting-edge blockchain technology. There are multiple sections to this article. Every section of the proposal is broken down into a different topic. The introduction starts out by giving background information on two major subjects: blockchain technology and food safety management systems. It is a problem-focused solution that makes use of blockchain technology's decentralized structure. Describe the steps taken in the construction of a smart contract to address the stated issue. The main objective is to make sure that reliable information is integrated and traceable throughout the whole food supply chain. A mathematical model is the conclusion. In result, this essay investigates how blockchain technology might support social governance of food safety. It offers more than just a conceptual foundation. However, it also provides a functioning prototype system that exemplifies how blockchain technology might transform food safety management by encouraging trust, dependability, and collaboration among all parties involved in the food supply chain. © 2023 IEEE.

Flying ad hoc networks (FANETs) tackle diverse challenges, for example, dynamic topological structure, high mobility of nodes, low density, and energy restrictions. These challenges make problems in designing reliable and stable routing in FANETs. Hence, the design of a routing algorithm is essential for transferring data between drones. In this paper, an energy-aware routing scheme based on a virtual relay tunnel (EARVRT) is proposed in flying ad hoc networks. EARVRT includes a virtual relay tunnel (VRT) that manages relay nodes in the route discovery process and lowers network overhead. Moreover, three metrics, namely route energy, hop counts, and a new metric called path correlation are regarded in the path selection operation. Note that correlation is defined with regard to two scales, including the cosine similarity of two nodes and their distance. EARVRT is evaluated according to delay, network longevity, consumed energy, and packet delivery rate. Then, our scheme is compared with three methods, namely LoCaL, O-LAR, and PSO-GLFR. These results show the superiority and success of EARVRT in comparison with other algorithms. © 2024 The Author(s)

VR apps in the categories of gaming, leisure, social, fitness, work and education are becoming increasingly popular. The aim of this paper is to determine the potential for increasing efficiency and conserving resources in laboratory processes. For this purpose, literature research was conducted on the one hand, and on the other hand, a virtual simulation environment in the field of cell culture was created within a Laminar Flow Hood (Flow) using the Unity development environment and the Oculus Quest 2 VR goggles. Outstanding features of the app are that, in addition to the possibility of being used via cable using a PC (PCVR), it can also be operated wireless as an Android standalone package, and that it can be used with controllers as well as with hand tracking, i.e., freehand. The Laminar Flow application was extensively tested on a group of 10 employees and students of the department of Biomedical Engineering. The data obtained from the app, as well as questionnaires completed by the test persons, show that a usability-friendly application can be used to train workflows efficiently and, in a resource saving manner. Furthermore, the more often the workflow has been worked through by a person, a greater improvement in the workflow was achieved. In addition, a strong acceptance and high commitment of the users in the technical environment can be seen. Regarding comparable studies and although the test group is subject to some limitations the enormous potential that IVR offers to support location-based training sessions in companies and especially in laboratories and university facilities can be seen. In view of the decreasing prices, the technical advancement of VR devices and the paradigm shift of work and education towards increased home office driven by COVID-19, intensified future research in the field of IVR can be justified in combination with these positive results. © 2022 University of Split, FESB.

Database design is a core topic in computer science (CS) curricula at the university level. Students often encounter difficulties and misconceptions while learning these concepts. Previous research attempted to address these learning difficulties through interactive visual demonstrations. However, most of these resources are not well integrated into the curriculum, and lack a proper educational evaluation. In this paper, we present a set of online interactive visualizations that we name DataBase Visualizations (DBVs), that address common database design learning difficulties in an introductory undergraduate database course. Core database design concepts are visualized step-by-step, facilitating a deep understanding of relationship establishment and mapping onto a relational schema. DBVs could be easily embedded in an online eTextbook facilitating integration with the existing curriculum. We present our findings from an evaluation study of the effectiveness of DBVs when applied to a semester-long undergraduate database course in a large public institution in the middle east. Results indicate that intervention group students had significantly higher scores on a post-test offered as part of the final compared to control group students using primarily traditional textual content. Furthermore, intervention group students were surveyed at the end of the semester asking them about the value of DBVs to their learning process and suggestions for improvement. Survey results indicate that DBVs were clear, engaging, and easy to use. We believe that DBVs will be helpful to undergraduate database instructors in their teaching of basic database design concepts. © 2024 ACM.

Keywords and Keyphrases are very important to capture the semantics contained in texts. Their extraction is a topic of particular relevance to a great number of researchers. Keywords and Keyphrases are useful for many applications, like: Indexation, Information Retrieval, Classification, Recommendation, Contextual advertising, etc. Their extraction is a challenging problem. Many approaches have been proposed for Keywords/Keyphrases extraction for several languages, including the Arabic language. However, the question remains to: what is the most performing approach in this field of research?. In this paper, a comparison is performed between two different methods applied to Keyphrase extraction from Arabic Texts: namely, Naïve Bayes and an approach based on a graph model. The experiments and the results obtained attest that the Graph based approach is more performing than Naïve Bayes. Rhinosinusitis Mucus is mucus produced by mucus glands found in the nose in the paranasal sinus area which indicates inflammation. Segmentation of rhinosinusitis mucus is very difficult to do because of the many characteristics of different objects in the image of the paranasal Sinus CT-Scan in separating the mucus object with its background before the extraction process. The purpose of this study was to accurately identify and measure the mucus area of rhinosinusitis from CT-scan images of rhinosinusitis patients. The test data used in this study is secondary data from CT-Scan of paranasal sinus sagittal view in radiology RSUP M. Djamil Padang, Padang City, West Sumatra, Indonesia, using the Philips Ingenuity CT CT-Scan model type MRC880 numbered Tube series 163889. The segmentation process is carried out to obtain the optimal multi threshold value from each slice of the test image using the Improved Adaptive Multi Threshold (IAMT) segmentation method which produces a binary image to separate the mucus object with its background before the extraction process. Furthermore, the results of IAMT are applied to the identification and extraction model automatically to obtain the area of the rhinosinusitis mucus object. The extraction results were used for 2D to 3D image reconstruction in calculating the volume of rhinosinusitis mucus objects. The test results showed that the smallest area of rhinosinusitis mucus was 0.516 cm2 and the largest was 1.807 cm2, and the average volume was 0.95 cm3 with Accuracy is 96,5%. The identified areas and volumes indicate inflammation in the area of the paranasal sinuses and require treatment. Thus, this study can help doctors in making the right decision to take further medical action. © 2024 IEEE.

A design of dual-polarized 3-D pattern manipulation structure (DP 3-D PMS) using slotline-based elements is presented for future 6G wireless networks. Firstly, the 3-D slotline element with variable slotline length is analyzed. Using this type of element, a single-polarized PMS is realized to control the reflected wave. Then, the expansion of dual-polarized PMS is obtained by utilizing dual-polarized elements with slotline pairs. Finally, calculations and simulations agree well with each other, showing that the proposed DP 3-D PMS possesses the ability to effectively manipulate the reflected wave within an angle range of 45°. © 2023 IEEE.

In this work it has been shown that the growth of computer attacks continues to advance constantly, as well as the large number of vulnerability detection and protection tools that exist, therefore, not protecting a computer system allows easy access by intruders to the system, putting the confidentiality, integrity and availability of information at risk, in addition to increasing costs for performing corrective maintenance on damaged devices. Furthermore, studying the traffic flow of a network using the WireShark tool revealed instances of malware attacks, prompting the development of a proposed malware detection system for the network. To obtain the Dataset, all network statistics had to be forwarded to a host, where this host was connected to a Port Mirror. Once these statistics were obtained, they were captured thanks to the Netflow protocol, in order to have better management of the entire captured traffic flow. Isolation Forest shows an excellent probability of 92% and the model can distinguish between non-anomalous data and data that is malware which is superior than support vector machine (SVM). © 2024 IEEE.

Evapotranspiration (ET) is a crucial process in understanding plant water use and is essential for effective agricultural management, particularly in optimizing irrigation and detecting crop stress. Remote sensing retrieved ET relying on Landsat observations can provide 30-meter water use data, which is relatively coarse for specialty crops, such as vineyards and orchards. To overcome this limitation, we propose a dual GAN-based super-resolution model (DuGAN-ETSR) to enhance the spatial resolution of the available 30-m ET product. However, a major challenge remains in this approach: the scarcity of paired high- and low-resolution ET images needed for training. To address this, we utilize 4-band reflectance data, a key parameter for ET estimation, as a substitute for training our model. Experimental results show that DuGAN-ETSR outperforms traditional interpolation methods, reconstructing high-resolution ET images while preserving essential fine-scale details. This approach provides a cost-effective and accurate solution for improving ET monitoring in agriculture, with a strong potential to enhance the management of specialty crops. © 2025 IEEE.

The k-means clustering algorithm calculates the distances between data points within each cluster and determines new centroids for each cluster until the data points remain unchanged within their respective groups. This process affects the iteration of the k-means algorithm, leading to an increase in computation time. Consequently, the overall execution time of the algorithm is prolonged. This research presents a process that utilizes the farthest first and canopy algorithms to reduce the number of iterations in the k-means clustering. This improvement focuses on enhancing the centroid initialization method for each cluster. The research study utilized ten datasets from the UCI machine learning repository to test the effectiveness of improving the k-means clustering algorithm. It compares the number of iterations and the sum of squares error as performance metrics. The results showed that the farthest first and canopy algorithms significantly reduce the number of iterations in the k-means clustering when compared to random centroid initialization. These research findings confirm the hypothesis that the method of centroid initialization for each cluster impacts the iteration process of k-means clustering. © 2023 IEEE.
