Recent extensions of von Neumann's alternating projection method permit the computation of proximity projections onto certain convex sets. This paper exploits this fact in constructing a globally convergent method for minimizing linear functions over a convex set in a Hilbert space. In particular, we solve the educational testing problem and an inverse eigenvalue problem, two difficult problems involving positive semidefiniteness constraints.

The only three spin-1/2 equations with Harish-Chandra degree four, involving auxiliary spins 1/2 and 3/2 with arbitrary multiplicities are analysed. They are rewritten in a basis corresponding to irreducible Lorentz-invariant subspaces. Irreducibility of all three Γ-algebras is proved. The equations are finally rewritten in the more familiar formalism using Dirac γ-matrices and tensor-spinor fields.

When attempting to find sufficient conditions for a linear mapping to be a derivation, an obvious candidate is the concept of a local derivation. Local derivations on operator algebras have been investigated in recent papers of Kadison (J. algebra 130 (1990), 494-509) and Larson and Sourour (Proc. Symp. Pure Math. 51 (1990), 187-194). A local derivation eta is a (norm continuous) linear map from an operator algebra A into an A-bimodule, A which agrees with some derivation at each point in the algebra. We shaw that if A is the direct limit of finite dimensional CSL algebras via *-extendable embeddings (e.g., a triangular AF algebra), then a local derivation on A must be a derivation. Battery Monitoring Systems (BMS) have played a pivotal role in our trajectory towards greener and sustainable living, especially in our commutation methods. The rise of electric cars and two-wheelers has put renewed focus on high density energy storage and their safety. Existing BMS’s often provide the bare minimum in terms of protection and regulation of energy, often falling short of certain safety standards or lack thereof. Within this research, we task ourselves to identify and provide an alternative, viable, cost-effective method to ensure safe monitoring and especially safe debugging of faulty battery packs. We employ off-the-shelf components and integrate them into existing BMS to provide an easier way for debugging via Internet of Things (IoT) to allow local technicians access to the same information as the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) themselves. Therefore, our aim is to provide a platform for people to troubleshoot their BMS’ on electric vehicles and perform predictive maintenance via remote monitoring, providing the same flexibility of a regular combustion car.
