When building digital twins of existing technical solutions, we need a large amount of data on the parameters of their operation under various conditions. The source of data on the values of process variables at the lowest level is control devices - most often PLCs. There are many ways to acquire the qualities of process variables available from the PLC level. Increasingly, OPC UA is replacing the OPC model, and the OPC UA server is increasingly a functionality of the PLC CPU. The Industrial Internet of Things IIoT is used in companies moving toward Factory 4.0. Data from controllers can be acquired using high-level languages such as C++, C# or Python. Libraries often made available under an open-source license are used for this. For example, you can find commercial libraries for communication between PLCs of selected manufacturers and MySQL servers. Siemens provides a library for communication between S7-1200/1500 controllers and MS SQL server. The author has yet to find an exhaustive analysis of such a solution. In the literature, there need to be more studies of experiments describing the performance of query generation and execution and the impact of the library on PLC performance. The article presents the results of an experimental study of this issue.

The beginning of the paper introduces the idea of neural networks by presenting the neuron models and artificial neural networks. Next, the flow of operations used in the development of convolutional neural networks is presented, as well as an overview of popular architectures used in model development. After introducing the theoretical issues, a project using the EfficientNet architecture to recognize medical images taken by MRI is presented. The project describes: the selection and parameters of the MRI image database representing different types of brain tumors, the process of implementation and appropriate modification of the EfficientNet architecture used to classify images, the presentation of the results of learning the convolutional neural network and the images that highlight on the basis of which area the convolutional neural network classifies images.

With an elemental composition similar to bone mineral,and the ability to release phosphorus and calcium that benefit bone regeneration,Calcium Phosphate Glass(CPG)serves as a promising component of bone tissue engineering ***,the degradation of CPG composites typically results in increased acidity,and its impact on bone-forming activity is less *** this work,we prepared 3D-printed composite scaffolds comprising CPG,Poly-ε-caprolactone(PCL),and various Magnesium Oxide(MgO)*** the MgO content effectively suppressed the degradation of CPG,maintaining a physiological pH of the degradation *** the degradation of CPG/PCL scaffolds resulted in upregulated apoptosis of Rat Bone Marrow-derived Stem Cells(rBMSC),scaffolds containing MgO were free from these negative impacts,and an optimal MgO content of 1 wt%led to the most pronounced osteogenic differentiation of *** work demonstrated that the rapid degradation of CPG impaired the renewability of stem cells through the increased acidity of the surrounding media,and MgO effectively modulated the degradation rate of CPG,thus preventing the negative effects of rapid degradation and supporting the proliferation and osteogenic differentiation of the stem cells.

Robust MPC with Support Vector Clustering-based Parametric Uncertainty Set for Building Thermal control

control systems are essential to support the use of building structures as short-term thermal energy storage (TES). Due to modeling and forecast imperfections, the controller must be able to deal with uncertainties. This paper proposes a robust model predictive controller (MPC) with a new uncertainty set construction technique to regulate the heat supply in a building envelope. We extend the Support Vector Clustering-based set construction technique to estimate modeling and forecast uncertainty sets. Subsequently, we integrate the sets into a Min-Max MPC framework to ensure robust feasibility by tightening the constraints. The resulting controller successfully deals with modeling and forecast uncertainties. The quality of the presented framework is compared with a nominal MPC and a robust MPC with different uncertainty set estimates. On the basis of a numerical simulation, we demonstrate that the proposed controller successfully maintains the room temperature within the comfort limits. The result also shows that our MPC is less conservative than the controller designed using a box-shaped non-falsifed parametric uncertainty set.

This paper presents a hardware and software of an electrooculogram (EOG) acquisition system based on ATmega AVR microcontroller for the acquisition of vertical and horizontal eye movements. The presented system is used to acquire a dataset of eye movements for volunteers. This system gives two channels representing vertical and horizontal EOG signals. The frequency range of the EOG signal is known to be 0.1 to 10 Hz, and hence this frequency range is isolated with a High-Pass Filter (HPF) with a cutoff frequency of 0.1 Hz followed by a Low-Pass Filter (LPF) with a cutoff frequency of 10 Hz. The EOG acquisition system is interfaced with an ATmega AVR microcontroller to acquire a dataset that can be used for controlling hardware such as Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs), wheelchair, and robot arm. The presented system is composed of EOG signal acquisition, Ag/AgCl electrodes, analog-to-digital converter through Arduino Mega 2560 board microcontroller unit, trainer board, laptop, keypad, and Liquid Crystal Display (LCD). The eye movement is detected by measuring the potential difference between cornea and retina using five Ag–Agcl disposable electrodes. Different volunteers of different ages at different times have been treated with the presented system to obtain data. Classified vertical and horizontal EOG signals and the basic eye movements e.g., open eye, left, right, up, and down can be used to control robots and wheelchairs for rehabilitation purposes. © 2023, The Author(s).

Accurate heading control is the premise for underwater vehicles to complete underwater operations. In order to improve the performance of heading control, this paper proposes a heading control strategy based on PID-fuzzy switching. First, the force analysis of the steering motion was carried out to derive the dynamics model of the steering motion. Then, the whole heading control process is divided into two phases, steering phase and holding phase. Fuzzy control is used in the steering phase, and PID control is used in the holding phase. By setting the automatic switching switch, the control system can switch freely between the two to meet the needs of system adjustment under different errors. Finally, the performance of the established heading control system is verified through motion control simulations and pool experiments, and the proposed control strategy is compared with other methods. The results show that the control strategy can effectively achieve ROV heading control with good steady-state accuracy, and the overall performance has been greatly improved. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag London Ltd., part of Springer Nature 2024.

Finite-time asynchronous dissipative filtering of conic-type nonlinear Markov jump systems

In the present study, the finite-time asynchronous dissipative filter design problem for the Markov jump systems with conic-type nonlinearity is studied. The hidden Markov model can describe the asynchronism embodied in the system modes and the filter modes reasonably. Moreover, a suitable LyapunovKrasovskii function is utilized and linear matrix inequalities are applied to obtain adequate conditions. These techniques guarantee the finite-time boundedness and strict dissipativity of the filtering error dynamic system. Furthermore, the design problems of the passive filter and the H∞ filter are studied by adjusting the three parameters U, G and V. Finally, the filter gains and the optimal index α*are obtained and the correctness and feasibility of the designed approach are verified by a simulation example.

To rapidly and accurately establish the model of switched reluctance motors (SRMs) and enhance torque control performance, this article proposes a model predictive torque control (MPTC) strategy based on the optimized voltage vector. First, a fourth-order Fourier series is used to calculate the flux and torque models, and a complete nonlinear model of the SRM is constructed using the Kriging model. Second, the torque characteristics are used to divide the sectors, thereby reducing the number of candidate voltage vectors (CVVs) and effectively decreasing the computational burden of predictive control. Finally, an adaptive adjustment algorithm for the sector boundary angle is proposed, where the position of the sectors is determined based on variations in speed and load. The proposed method reduces torque ripple and enhances dynamic response capability. The effectiveness of this approach is validated through experiments on a 12/10 pole six-phase SRM prototype. © 2015 IEEE.

This paper explores the efficacy of two distinct approaches in computer vision, particularly in intelligent sports training systems. Our focus is on the development and comparison of two methodologies for image recognition in a basketball score detection system, named "Koško." The first approach uses a pre-trained model with two combined datasets in the training phase. This method leverages diverse data to enhance the model’s ability to generalize and accurately recognize scores in basketball games. In contrast, the second approach fine-tunes a model initially trained on one dataset with a subsequent second dataset. Rooted in recent transfer learning studies, this method shows that selectively fine-tuning a subset of layers or customizing learning rates can significantly improve robustness to out-of-distribution (OOD) data. By enforcing weight projections, this approach aims to maintain the generalization capabilities of the pre-trained models while adapting to the new dataset. Our research balances precise score detection and pragmatic system development, contributing to intelligent sports training systems. This work highlights the feasibility of combining machine learning and vision-based methodologies to advance sports training systems. Research on basketball score detection using the YOLOv8n model shows the pre-trained model achieved 93.75% accuracy and a 3% false positive rate, outperforming the fine-tuned model’s 88.71% accuracy and 5% false positive rate. By evaluating both networks, this study aims to provide clear strategies for implementing computer vision systems in sports, particularly in the dynamic environment of basketball. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024.

In the present paper, the authors describe the research capabilities of a specially designed experimental setup for testing magnetoactive material samples. The study covers the setup description with particular emphasis on mechanical, electrical and software components. The results of preliminary tests carried out in the context of magnetic field and temperature requirements are provided. The work demonstrates that expanding the research capabilities ensures expected conditions for testing magnetoactive materials.
