Biodiesel is an alternative source of non-fossil fuels for diesel engines and can be used without the need for engine modifications. The effects of employing low proportions of palm biodiesel blends on marine diesel engine performance are investigated in this study. Response surface methodology (RSM) model had been employed to determine the optimal operating conditions of marine diesel engine with respect to palm biodiesel blend, engine load and speed. The ANOVA analysis was selected to verify the adequacy of the model. The use of palm biodiesel blends has lowered the CO emissions while increasing BSFC and NOX emissions marginally. The results of statistically goodness of fit (R2) and the goodness of prediction (Adjusted R2) for all response parameters were above 90%. This value indicates that the developed model is able to predict the data with high accuracy. This study revealed that the optimum condition of fuel was determined as 5% palm biodiesel and 95% of petroleum diesel which operated at 1500 rpm speed and 36.97% engine loading with 78% of RSM desirability. The RSM model was tremendously helpful in structuring the experiment and lowering the amount of time required by reducing the number of experiments to be conducted. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

Software ageing is an unavoidable phenomenon that can occur with every software product. Software that is unable to evolve and meet current needs will have a limited ability to provide ongoing functionality and relevance. Software performance and quality will degrade when these happen, known as the software ageing phenomena. Even though we cannot escape ageing in software products, it can be delayed and slowed down by understanding which factors contribute to ageing. Software ageing factors can be classified into two categories which are external and internal factors. This study focuses on external factors of software ageing related to or derived from the existing software quality model. Our experience conducting research in software quality and certification motivates us to develop a software ageing assessment and indexing model from the dimension of software quality. This paper presents the background and related issues on software ageing and quality and focuses further on the conceptual model of software ageing.

Most Malaysian jacket platforms have outlived their design life. As these old platforms have outlived their design life, other alternatives must be considered. As several offshore oil and gas extraction installations approach the end of their operational life, many options such as decommissioning and the development of a new source of energy such as wind farms are introduced. The objective of this paper is to investigate the environmental impacts of utilising ageing fixed offshore platform as a source for ocean Thermal Energy Conversion (OTEC). The environmental impact of utilising an ageing fixed offshore platform as an OTEC source is discussed. OTEC produces energy by taking advantage of temperature variations between the ocean surface water and the colder deep water through cold-water intake piping, which requires a seawater depth of 700 metres. The output of this study shows that OTEC is envisioned to preserve marine life, becoming a new and reliable source of energy, assist clean water production, and reduce the negative impact of climate change. OTEC platforms utilising ageing platforms may lead to 44 % of fish catch in the ocean, remove 13 GW of surface ocean heat for every GW of electricity production per year, generate 1.3105 tonnes of hydrogen per year for each GW of electricity generated. In addition, OTEC platforms can reduce approximately 5106 tonnes of carbon dioxide from the environment for 1 GW of electricity generated per year, and supply 2 million litres of water per day for a 1 MW platform. Since Malaysia's seawater profile allows for installing a fixed offshore platform as an OTEC power plant, Malaysia has many potentials to profit from the OTEC process. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

River, which supply 90% of the readily accessible water, are key elements of universal water source system. Terengganu River situated in Terengganu, Malaysia is a modern busy city known for tourism, fishing, and industry. Due to that, it has increased risk of water pollution exposure. Therefore, this paper proposes unsupervised ML include Autoencoder and Self-Organizing Map (SOM) for clustering water pollution area along the Terengganu River. Then, uses Silhouette analysis to assess the total of optimum clusters in a dataset. Next, applies Adjusted Rank Index (ARI) to discover the finest comparing within original data with Autoencoder and SOM. Lastly, applies Elbow method to double verify the most excellent clusters for each clustering algorithm. Lastly, lists of polluted area in each cluster are retrieved from 14 main sampling stations with 24 water quality parameters, including 405 water samples. Result shows different cluster with different water samples. Thus, offer different strategies to manage polluted area for Terengganu River.

We call a subgroup H nearly S-permutably embedded in a group G if a Sylow p-subgroup of H is a Sylow p-subgroup of some nearly S-permutable subgroup in G. In this paper we introduce the class Ens of all groups G in which every p-subgroup is nearly S-permutably embedded. Some properties of Ens groups are established. The relation between Ens-groups and other group classes (defined by means of nearly S- permutability) is discussed. © 2021 IEEE.

In this paper, we survey and classify most of the information retrieval (IR) approaches to Malay text in order to assess their benefits and limitations. We also summarized the information retrieval tools and related methods, in which ontology is a widely used tool for all countries' researchers. This research selects Malay language as the primary test collection because there are more issues in Malay languages, particularly those related to deep semantics, including the use of ontology. The traditional Malay retrieval system mostly focused on syntax extraction and keywords only. Mostly this technique will ignore the semantic element and the real meaning of query text and corpus which not fulfil the requirement of the user. Most of the previous study in information retrieval was using English and Arabic language as a test collection. Therefore, advance research is needed and it will be experimented in the future work. The finding of the paper will help other researchers discover the information and research gap regarding the Malay text. © 2021 IEEE.

One of the highest causes of death in many countries in this modern era is cardiovascular diseases. There are a few symptoms that linked significantly to the cardiovascular diseases. The symptoms and diseases relationship can be represented by neutrosophic set values. In general, neutrosophic set gives remarkable contribution in denoising, clustering, segmentation, and classification in handling data of many real applications including in medical field. This study aims to analyse the cardiovascular disease risks by a new distance-based similarity measure motivated from intuitionistic fuzzy set theory. The proof for all the properties is presented clearly. Then, a case study is conducted by using the data on the severity level of the six symptoms found in two different patients. The neutrosophic data are analysed to determine the patients’ possibility of having any one or combination of the three types of cardiovascular diseases. A comparative study involving three common distance measures is conducted. The results show that the similarity indexes for all measures of both patients are less than 0.5. This situation can further conclude as both patients are possibly not suffering from cardiovascular diseases. © 2021, Neutrosophic Sets and Systems. All Rights Reserved.

Metallic materials have propelled human advancements for centuries. Nevertheless, the rapid degradation of metallic structures in corrosive environments is inevitable. To date, the demand for metal alloys in multiple sectors, including construction and transportation, continues to escalate, with the trend it is predicted to reach beyond 250% by 2050. Thus, the need for corrosion inhibitors (CI) with qualities of high efficiency, excellent solubility, low toxicity, and inexpensiveness drive researchers to examine various possibilities. Here, we review the novelty, methods, and outputs from the latest studies on organic CI with the primary purpose of protecting mild steel and stainless steel in salt and acidic solutions. We reviewed the effectiveness, synergism impacts, and technological availability of each inhibitor and also comprehensively discussed related mechanisms of metallic corrosion and inhibition of CI. © 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

In comparison to conventional book-printed content, electronic "publishing"has allowed users to import files to either a personal computer or an e-book reader to read text in a digital format. Reduced printing costs and reduced time to market by streamlined drafting, proofing, and printing methods are the benefits of the publishing industry over the conventional printed book (p-book). It prevents binding, distribution and shipping. The intent of this paper is to explore the strategic use of e-commerce in the transformation of the publishing industry. The first part of the paper discusses the strategic use of e-commerce/Web-Based Business in the transition from a single distribution channel mass producer of printed books to a multiple distribution channel that will include e-books and print on demand technology in the publishing industry. Emphasis is put on management techniques in the global marketplace for the use of emerging information technologies. The second section of this paper addresses the transfer in competitive influence between the different levels of the supply chain of the publishing industry, including the latest trends in electronic publishing from the stakeholders' point of view. Expected to serve as the base for development within the digitized print industry. As e-publishing becomes popular and moves towards maturity, to allow a "mainstream"status, common standards must emerge and combine. © 2021 IEEE.

This research aims is to develop an approach in supporting component developers measure the reusability of developed software components. The approach could be used by software developers to select the reusable components during software development. Thus, this paper presents a controlled experimental design using human subjects. The overall method includes a detail explanation of the procedures and guidelines for performing the experimental activities. The experiment consists of numerous activities: designing the experimental method and procedure, designing the experimental tasks, running the controlled experiment, collecting data, analyzing the results, and recommending improvements based on the implications of earlier studies. The findings of the study can be applied to evaluate the metrics for the Component Reusability Evaluation Approach (CREA), namely documentation, observability, customisability, and the external dependency of the component. © 2021 IEEE.
