The development of biopolymer electrolytes based on methylcellulose (MC) has been accomplished by incorporating ammonium bromide (NB) to the polymer-salt system. The biopolymer electrolytes were prepared via solution-casting method. The conductivity and permittivity characteristics of the material were studied. The biopolymer-salt complex formation have been analysed through Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The conductivity of the sample was measured by EIS HIOKI. Upon addition of 20 wt.% of NB, highest conductivity of 3.25×10-4 µScm-1 was achieved at ambient temperature. The temperature dependence of the biopolymer electrolytes exhibit Arrhenius behaviour. This result had been further proven in FTIR study. © 2021 Trans Tech Publications Ltd, Switzerland.

Breakwater construction in Indonesia still relies on divers to direct the placement of rock armour units, which is risky and time-constrained. This research aims to replace the diver's task with a deep learning-based vision system using YOLO-based deep learning models. The system utilizes image pre-processing technology by applying histogram equalization (HE) techniques to improve image quality before the detection process. This research evaluates the performance of the YOLO-based deep learning models in detecting armour units in real-time with a focus on various environmental conditions, which are clear and murky water. The analysis reveals clear water consistently supports higher average frame rates (FPS) compared to murky water, maintaining efficient frame processing across all models. In murky water, histogram equalization significantly enhances detection accuracy from 60% to 80% for YOLOv4-tiny and YOLOv7-tiny, demonstrating its effectiveness in challenging conditions. Notably, accuracy remains at 100% for all models in clear water, underscoring their robust performance under optimal visibility conditions.

The practice of river quality classification usually uses Water Quality Index (WQI) to evaluate the WQI values of the river. However, due to huge data collection on river pollution with uncertain water quality parameter values, need to a different approach to classify the river quality. One of the supervised classification algorithms known as K-Nearest Neighbors (KNN) seems to give new approach for river quality classification where each data points are classified according to the k number or the closest data points neighbors. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to apply different distances and distance-weighted in KNN for finding the most accurate river quality classification. The accuracy results are compared with Support Vector Machine (SVM) and Decision Tree (DT) algorithms. This KNN algorithm will give a different approach in classify the river quality. © 2022 Elsevier B.V.. All rights reserved.

Clean and safe water is vital for our lives and public health. In recent decades, population growth, agriculture, industries, and climate change have worsened freshwater resource depletion and clean water pollution. Several studies have focused on water pollutions risk simulation and prediction in the presence of pollution hotspots. However, the increase and complexity of big data caused by uncertain water quality parameters led to a new efficient algorithm to trace the most accurate pollution hotspots. Therefore, this study proposes to offer different algorithms and comparative studies using Machine Learning (ML) algorithms. Ten different most widely used algorithms, including unsupervised and supervised ML, will be employed to categorize the pollution hotspots for the Terengganu River. Besides, we also validate algorithms' accuracies by improving and changing each parameter in ML algorithms. Our results list all the accurate and efficient ML algorithms for the classification of river pollutions. These results help to facilitate river prediction using efficient and accurate algorithms in various water quality scenario. © 2022 Elsevier B.V.. All rights reserved.

Due to its significant applications in magnetic devices for cell separation, magnetic drugs for cancer tumor treatment, blood flow adjustment during surgery, magnetic endoscopy, and fluid pumping in industrial and engineering processes, magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) has a wide range of applications. Therefore, the aim of this study to investigate the Relative Magnetic Field and slipping effect on Casson dusty fluid of two-phase fluctuating flow over inclined parallel plate. More exactly, the relative magnetic phenomena are fixed relatively to the plate (MFFRP) or fixed relatively to the fluid (MFFRF). The mathematical modeling was established as the set of partial differential equations for dusty Casson fluid. Buckingham's pi theorem is used to find out the dimensionless variables, to make our system dimensionless. The solution in perturb form is to find out by incorporating Poincare–Lighthill perturbation technique (PLPT). To know in-depth different parameters the graphical results for both velocities are plotted with the help of software Mathcad- 15. It is clearly detected that the relative magnetic field performs a vital part in the fluid as well as particle motion. Moreover, the relative magnetic field play a vital role in the decreasing of skin friction of both plates. © 2023

Blockchain has been reported as one of the technologies that could change the Internet architecture in the future. Systematic Literature Review (SLR) is used as a technique to dig into current researches to identify research that supports the research question. Optimizing the Electrochemical Performance of Mof-Derived Co3o4/Ca4o4 Electrode Materials in Non-Aqueous Calcium-Ion Electrolytes

The Co3O4/Ca4O4 composite was synthesized from a bimetallic-organic framework template in this work using a simple wet chemical precipitation and annealing technique. This nanomaterial is then evaluated as an electrode material in a variety of calcium ion-based non-aqueous electrolytes. The galvanostatic charge-discharge (GCD) test demonstrates that the Co3O4/Ca4O4 composite exhibits a highest specific discharge capacity of 214.31 mA h g−1 in 0.5 M Ca(ClO4)2/acetonitrile (AN) electrolyte, with an average discharge voltage of 2.4 V vs. Ca/Ca2+ after 10 cycles at 500 mA g−1. Meanwhile, discharge capacities of 169.58 mA h g−1 and 168.81 mA h g−1 are obtained when using 0.5 M Ca(NO3)2 in 1:1 (v/v) ethylene carbonate/propylene carbonate (ECPC) and 0.5 M Ca(ClO4)2/ECPC electrolytes with average discharge voltages of 1.9 V and 1.65 V (vs. Ca/Ca2+), respectively. However, the ion kinetics study of cyclic voltammetry (CV) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) reveals superior electrolyte resistance, charge transfer resistance, and diffusion coefficient of EC/PC-based electrolyte compared to other candidates, implying better long-term stability of the electrolyte in prolonged cycling cell. Thus, the combination of this electrode and electrolyte could pave the way for the development of high-performance electrode materials for non-aqueous CIB applications constructed in an open-air environment. © 2024, The Authors. Currently, the increasing demand for environmentally friendly corrosion inhibitors. Sustainable organic inhibitor innovations can be an alternative in the industrial world that still uses hazardous chemical inhibitors. Carbon Steel is a material that is often used in the oil and gas industry. This type of steel is resistant to significant corrosion, so an effective solution is needed to minimise material degradation. This study investigates the potential of sunflower (Helianthus annus) seed shell extract, SSSE. as a sustainable, environmentally friendly corrosion inhibitor for steel in concentrated hydrochloric acid (1 M HCl), where these conditions are representative of an industrially hazardous environment. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and potentiodynamic polarisation (PDP) methods were used in this study. With these two approaches, SSSE showed a high inhibition efficiency of 99.56 % at a concentration of 400 ppm, effectively reducing both anodic and cathodic corrosion reactions. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) showed the formed protective layer on the steel surface, significantly reducing corrosion. These findings highlight SSSE as a feasible and environmentally friendly alternative to conventional inhibitors, showing great potential applications in various acidic environments. © 2025 The Author(s)

The Impact of Air Quality and Meteorology on COVID-19 Cases at Kuala Lumpur and Selangor, Malaysia and Prediction Using Machine Learning

Emissions from motor vehicles and industrial sources have contributed to air pollution worldwide. The effect of chronic exposure to air pollution is associated with the severity of the COVID-19 infection. This ecological investigation explored the relationship between meteorological parameters, air pollutants, and COVID-19 cases among residents in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur between 18 March and 1 June in the years 2019 and 2020. The air pollutants considered in this study comprised particulate matter (PM2.5, PM10), sulfur dioxide (SO2), nitrogen dioxide (NO2), ozone (O3), and carbon monoxide (CO), whereas wind direction (WD), ambient temperature (AT), relative humidity (RH), solar radiation (SR), and wind speed (WS) were analyzed for meteorological information. On average, air pollutants demonstrated lower concentrations than in 2019 for both locations except PM2.5 in Kuala Lumpur. The cumulative COVID-19 cases were negatively correlated with SR and WS but positively correlated with O3, NO2, RH, PM10, and PM2.5. Overall, RH (r = 0.494;p 2.5 (r = −0.396, p 2) correlation between actual and predicted COVID-19 cases was achieved with a learning rate of 0.2, a minimum leaf size of 7, and 30 learners. The model yielded an R2 value of 0.81, a RMSE of 0.44, a MSE of 0.19, and a MAE of 0.35. Using the BT predictive model, the number of COVID-19 cases in Selangor was projected with an R2 value of 0.77. This study aligns with the existing notion of connecting meteorological factors and chronic exposure to airborne pollutants with the incidence of COVID-19. Integrated governance for holistic approaches would be needed for air quality management post-COVID-19 in Malaysia. © 2023 by the authors.

The persistent threat of climate change is brought on by extreme emissions of greenhouse gases (GHGs). Due to its advantages in converting two principal GHGs (CH 4 and CO 2 ) into a synthesis gas (H 2 and CO), carbon dioxide reforming of methane has received a lot of interest. However, the main issue with a dry reforming of methane (DRM) that needs to be rapidly tackled is catalyst deactivation caused by sintering and coke formation. In this context, the development of fibrous morphological support materials has emerged as an exciting technique that has shown promise in enhancing the physicochemical characteristics of the catalyst and enabling superior catalytic activity and deactivation resistance during the reaction. The physicochemical characteristics of fibrous zeolite-supported type catalysts, including metal-support interaction, metal dispersion, particle size, surface area, and porous nature, were the main emphasis of this mini-review. Designing suitable catalysts for DRM requires a thorough examination of catalytic properties and their relationship to catalytic performance.
