In recent years, Arenga Pinnata fibre has been found with great potential to be used as fibre reinforcement in material matrix composites. This study investigates the effect of fibre contents toward manufacturing defects and interfacial adhesion of Arenga Pinnata fibre reinforced Fiberglass/Kevlar hybrid composite material in boat construction. The composite testing coupons were prepared based on the volume fraction of Arenga Pinnata fibre which are 30%, 45%, 60%, and 75%. The long Arenga Pinnata fibre was placed and arranged into the mould by hand lay-up technique. The testing coupon have been arranged with a thickness of 5mm. Manufacturing defects and interfacial adhesion had determined by Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) techniques. The SEM results showed that specimen D (60%) of Arenga Pinnata exhibits the less manufacturing defects with a good interfacial and well bonding between the fibre and matrix among other testing specimens. Meanwhile, specimen E (75%) shows the highest manufacturing defects. As a conclusion, 60% of Arenga Pinnata fibre contents showed less manufacturing defects and exhibited good interfacial adhesion. SEM had significantly determined the manufacturing defects and interfacial adhesion of Arenga Pinnata fibre reinforced Fiberglass/ Kevlar hybrid composite material. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Response of the Offshore Jacket Platform at its Ultimate Strength Under Operating and Extreme Loads

Before reassessing the reliability condition of an offshore jacket platform, it is essential to understand the behaviours that the offshore platform exhibits while it is at sea, which are measured in terms of environmental loads: under operating and extreme conditions. Metocean data from a 1-year return period (operating condition) and a 100-year return period (storm condition) are used to predict the four-legs jacket platform's behaviour. Also, two values of minimum design water depth (WD) of 105.9 m and maximum design WD of 115.4 m are chosen. The Structural Analysis Computer Software (SACS), a non-linear finite element analysis software, is used to calculate the jacket platform's ultimate strength, called pushover analysis. The analysis result will determine the Reserve Strength Ratio (RSR) as an approach to examining the offshore jacket platform's ultimate strength. Responses to the offshore jacket platform are base shear design, base shear ultimate, rotation, displacement, and moment, which illustrate the behaviour of the offshore jacket platform. Eight combinations of environmental load directions are applied at 0°, 45°, 90°, 135°, 180°, 225°, 270°, and 315° to obtain the structure's weakest part. 45° is the critical direction for maximum design WD, while 90° is the critical direction for minimum design WD. © 2022, The Authors. Conventional method of wastewater treatment may include the usage of inorganic coagulants which may cause significant environmental effects. This research was carried out to focus on development of coagulant derived from Artocarpus heterophyllus as wastewater treatment agent. In this research, the coagulant derived from Artocarpus heterophyllus seeds and peels was produced by chemical activation process. Samples were prepared in the form of powder at 90 micromillimeter pore size and sulphuric acid (H2SO4) with concentration of 0.6M was used as activation agent and the activation temperature was set at 400°C for two hours. The coagulant samples were prepared by dissolving the seeds and peels of Artocarpus heterophyllus with H2SO4 at 1:8 (w/v) ratios then 0.1g of each sample was tested against 10ml of synthetic kaolin wastewater. The physical and chemical characterization of the sample was done by X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) and Brunauer, Emmet and Teller (BET) while the adsorbent effectiveness were tested using turbidity meter. FTIR results showed that the functional group in the samples corresponds well with existing literatures. XRD analysis has found that the samples were amorphous in structure. The BET surface area of Artocarpus heterophyllus coagulant seeds and peels is 216.8152 m2/g and 281.0723 m2/g respectively proved that the surface area of both samples become larger after heated which signifies larger surface area and pore diameter of the adsorbent. Result obtained through turbidity meters found that 11% (w/v) Artocarpus heterophyllus seeds coagulant showed 59.69% in turbidity removal while 14% (w/v) Artocarpus heterophyllus peels coagulant showed 76.88% in turbidity removal. This study had confirmed the efficacy of Artocarpus heterophyllus as coagulant up to an acceptable degree, however further study are needed to guarantee better percentage in turbidity removal. © Published

Hydrogen is a promising clean energy carrier, but its practical use is limited by storage challenges. Solid-state storage, particularly using magnesium hydride (MgH2), offers high capacity, though its application is hindered by high decomposition temperatures and slow dehydrogenation kinetics. To increase the storage capacities of MgH2, this study explored the influence of iron (Fe) doped on hollow silica spheres (HSS). Different amount of Fe was doped into the HSS and characterized using different physicochemical characterization techniques. The results show that Fe was successfully incorporated into the MgH2, with the 7 wt% Fe-HSS sample (7Fe-HSS) exhibiting the most significant improvements. The onset dehydrogenation temperature of pure MgH2 was 420 °C, while ball-milled MgH2 exhibited a reduced onset temperature of 350 °C. MgH2 doped with 3 wt%, 5 wt%, 7 wt%, and 10 wt% Fe-HSS showed onset temperatures of 359 °C, 345 °C, 320 °C, and 335 °C, respectively. The MgH2 doped with Fe nanoparticles, exhibited a similar onset dehydrogenation temperature of 320 °C. The 7Fe-HSS sample decreased the dehydrogenation temperature by 105 °C compared to pure MgH2 and by 30 °C compared to ball-milled MgH2. In terms of hydrogen absorption, the 7Fe-HSS composite absorbed 6.09 wt% H2 in 2 min at 320 °C, compared to 4.66 wt% for ball-milled MgH2, 4.49 wt% for MgH2-HSS, and 4.45 wt% for MgH2-Fe nanoparticles. Over 60 min, the 7Fe-HSS sample desorbed 4.85 wt% H2 at 320 °C, significantly higher than the 0.4 wt% desorbed by ball-milled MgH2, 3.37 wt% by MgH2-HSS, and 4.23 wt% by MgH2-Fe nanoparticles. The hydrogen absorption capacities at 20 min for MgH2-Fe nanoparticles, MgH2-HSS, 3 wt%, 5 wt%, 7 wt%, and 10 wt% Fe-HSS were 4.45 wt%, 4.49 wt%, 4.74 wt%, 5.24 wt%, 6.09 wt%, and 5.17 wt%, respectively. The Internet of Things (IoT) has gained attention for its rapid growth in the past few years. IoT devices such as temperature and humidity sensors and voice controllers are implemented widely, from household appliances to industrial machines. However, with the rapid growth and benefits IoT offers, we are exposed to various security vulnerabilities, such as data breaches and IoT-specific malware. Researchers are using IoT device identification as a solution for IoT security issues. IoT device identification helps network administrators identify network traffic into its originating devices. However, researchers often overlook an important issue in IoT device identification, which is accuracy degradation over time. Thus, this paper explores the severity of accuracy degradation in IoT device identification on different traffic representation approaches, which are flow, sub-flow, and packet. This paper utilizes a private, and the UNSW IoT Traffic Traces public dataset. Based on the experimental findings, the sub-flow-based approach recorded the best overall performance, with only 8% degradation in the private dataset and 1% degradation in the public dataset. Meanwhile, even though the packet-based approach only degraded 5% on the private dataset, it recorded up to an 11% accuracy decrease in the public dataset.

Entropy measure is an important tool in measuring uncertain information and plays a vital role in solving Multi Criteria Decision Making (MCDM). At present, various entropy measures in literature are developed to measure the degree of fuzziness. However, they could not be used to deal with interval neutrosophic vague set (INVS) environment. In this study, two kinds of entropy measures are proposed as the extension of the entropy measure of single valued neutrosophic set (SVNS). First, we construct the axiomatic definition of INVS and propose a new formula for the entropy measure of INVS. Based on this measure, we develop two multi criteria decision making methods. Subsequently, an illustrative example of investment problems under INVS is given to demonstrate the proposed entropy measures. Finally, a comparative analysis is presented to illustrate the rationality and effectiveness of the proposed entropy measures. © 2021

The persistent threat of climate change is brought on by extreme emissions of greenhouse gases (GHGs). Due to its advantages in converting two principal GHGs (CH4and CO2) into a synthesis gas (H2and CO), carbon dioxide reforming of methane has received a lot of interest. However, the main issue with a dry reforming of methane (DRM) that needs to be rapidly tackled is catalyst deactivation caused by sintering and coke formation. In this context, the development of fibrous morphological support materials has emerged as an exciting technique that has shown promise in enhancing the physicochemical characteristics of the catalyst and enabling superior catalytic activity and deactivation resistance during the reaction. The physicochemical characteristics of fibrous zeolite-supported type catalysts, including metal-support interaction, metal dispersion, particle size, surface area, and porous nature, were the main emphasis of this mini-review. Designing suitable catalysts for DRM requires a thorough examination of catalytic properties and their relationship to catalytic performance. © 2022 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

Replication is a useful technique for distributed database systems. An existing popular technique that has been used before are Read One-write-All Monitoring Synchronization Transactions System (ROWA-MSTS) and Hierarchical Replication Scheme (HRS). Nevertheless, these techniques have their flaws in terms of replication time taken. Subsequently, ROWA and HRS take more executing time in order to complete a transaction. It is because they have to copy their data to all sites. This research, Binary Voting Fragmented Database Replication (BVFDR) model, the some-data-to-some-sites technique is proposed. In order to handle transactions in the systems, BVFDR considers the neighbouring servers binary vote assignment to its logical grid structure on fragmented data copies. Therefore, it reduces storage capacity. An experiment has been carried out in three replicated servers. The results have been compared with existing techniques such ROWA and HRS. The result shows that BVFDR is able to preserve data consistency and outperformed in terms of time taken for a complete transaction compare to existing techniques. Overall, BVFDR able to handle fragmented data replication as well as capable to manage transaction management in distributed database environment by maintaining consistency of the data through the synchronization approach. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

The relative option pricing performance of Extended Generalised Leland models is examined in this study. We generalise the extended Leland models based on the implied adjusted volatility introduced in the models. Non-parametric framework is fitted into parametric option-pricing framework based on the Leland models to achieve a more realistic option pricing. To reflect the real probability measure, the implied adjusted information is corrected in terms of risk premium. This study concentrates mainly in examining the option-implied information produced by the models after correcting for risk-premium. Data extracted from DJIA index options are employed in this study, which covers the period from January 2009 until the end of 2015. We discovered that the option-implied volatility, which is priced using the Extended Generalised Leland models, especially after being corrected for risk-premium factor improves the option valuation accuracy significantly. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Electronic commerce, or people call it e-commerce, it refers to buying and selling products or services on the Internet and transferring money and data to carry out these transactions. More consumers are shifting from traditional transactions to e-commerce, as e-commerce becomes faster and cheaper. In contrast, electronic commerce provides more ease and variety in the composition of goods and services worldwide. E-commerce is the type of electronic business that has been in business for more than 25 years and is used by many users around the world. This research aims to shed light on the nature of electronic commerce and the difficulties it faces on the technical side. This research used descriptive methodology after gathering data from online and indexed research. The research also mentioned five of these obstacles, and how the Amazon overcomes them, and we will take a look at how the opportunities of the Amazon grow so that they have an effect called the Amazon effect, the research reached an important conclusion that eDesk is the leading help desk for online sellers, specifically designed to meet the exact requirements of e-commerce. The research also found solutions to some of the weaknesses faced by electronic commerce platforms. © 2021 IEEE.
