Comparison of different convolutional neural network techniques for car models classification

Car model classification is crucial as part of recognizing suspicious cars on the road that irresponsible owners have modified to obscure the views of police authorities for criminal purposes. This study presents car model classification using a deep learning state-of-the-art Neural Network architecture called Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN). Rather than being taught the concepts of a car, computers could study images, learn the concepts on their own using CNN, and classify them into their respected models using image processing methods. Different pre-trained CNNs were used in this study, including AlexNet, ResNet, and GoogleNet. The main idea of using different pre-trained CNNs is to compare the performance of the classification task by using various networks. The experimental results show that ResNet performed better than AlexNet and GoogleNet in classifying the modified cars into their actual class.

Loligo Duvauceli, is known as squid in the local name. Squid is a species of high value and a good source of protein besides fish. In this paper, a logistic growth model with constant and periodic harvesting are used to find the optimum sustainable population of Loligo Duvauceli in order to preserve the resource. The data used for this study was obtained from Department of Fisheries. The aims of this study are to estimate to determine the stability of the equilibrium point. Then, the effect of the constant and the periodic harvesting on the population of squids analysed. Finally, to compare the results obtained between the two strategies. The best harvesting selected squids is periodic harvesting. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

It is difficult to deal with the uncertainty data issue which has incompleteness, impreciseness and incertitude. Normally, uncertain and vague information is confronted in form of data point. Various mathematical models were developed to resolve issues concerning uncertainty point. In this paper, Neutrosophic Bézier Curve model will be introduced. A mathematical model with a redefinition of the control points that is characterized by three important components of neutrosophic set is designed to solve this problem. These control points are blended with the Bézier basic functions to generate multiple models in the form of neutrosophic spline curve and surface. Then, the related data can be translated through the construction of those models with the neutrosophic concept and its relationships.

Optimization of hydrofoils for ocean current energy application: A brief review

Since the marine source is vast, an optimized energy converter design is needed to extract as much marine energy as possible. This paper briefly overviewed the optimization technique of hydrofoil for the ocean current energy development. Optimization was considered an essential solution to solve the hydrodynamics design problem formally and systematically. Optimization methods such as Genetic algorithms, Particle swarm optimization, and Computational fluid dynamic were the widely used techniques in achieving the optimal hydrofoil shape for ocean current energy applications. This paper also overviewed the Artificial Neural Network as an objective function for the optimization algorithm to reduce the optimization process time-consuming. It is crucial to improve the optimization process. Based on the outcome of this review paper, the selection of design variables has a significant impact on the optimization process. Therefore, it is recommended to apply different hydrofoil types and adjust the thickness and camber of the hydrofoil where both are essential geometric parameters. Optimization of hydrofoil's shape is crucial to increase the hydrodynamic performance of the turbine blades. Finally, the optimal design of the current energy converter hopefully will help ensure the continuity of energy harvest from the untouchable ocean and reduce the diversification burden on existing technologies yet can also act as a backbone for driving the economy.

In the new era of innovation, the ordinary strategy which is the conventional method is still been employed to measure rubber. In the conventional method, the settler needs to bring the rubber to be measured, calculate the result and physically recorded the data into the logbook before bringing the logbook into the FELDA office. Besides, the rubber officer needs to ensure that the weight in which the settler shows match with the recorded data. This routine may lead to misinformation or the information can be faded, lost and misplaced. It takes a lot of time, energy and cost since the settler needs to get the result of total rubber information every day, week and month to be reported to the FELDA office. Therefore, the Smart Rubber Scale (SRS) System is proposed which inspired from the conventional process and it was made into the cloud system where it is measured by using the Arduino platform and all the data will be sent automatically into the database using Internet of things (IoT) technology. The SRS hardware devices consist of load cell sensor, scale sensor, Arduino UNO R3, sensor module HX711, Bluetooth module and LCD display. The SRS website is develop by using notepad++ programming, PHP, CSS, SQL, and HTML language. In this system, the staff in the FELDA office and the settler can use it for their convenience. The system will help the staff to automatically store all the rubber weight into the system and it would prevent misinformation, unlike the conventional method whereby the information needs to be recorded manually in the logbook. The settler can see the information anywhere and anytime. The system will record rubber details and the total of rubber collected by settler for every month.

Nowadays, database technology keeps evolving and available on various platforms. However, the use of heterogeneous database had a limitation because each database only provides a synchronization method for similar types of databases. Therefore, the utilization of various types of databases becoming a problem since the entire data among the databases need to be integrated. Previous research had examined heterogeneous database synchronization algorithms on mobile devices using message digest. Nevertheless, this algorithm requires a longer synchronization time because necessity to check the hash value of each data record. Thus, this study investigates the development of a multi-platform database synchronization algorithm using the Entity Relationship (ER) model. This model is based on the data relationships in each table. ER model implementation is executed by creating a temporary table that stores the primary key of each data record in a table that has changed or consist new data. The synchronization process flow is determined based on the type of transaction by selecting data from the source table based on the relationship from the temporary table data to the destination database. The results of this study indicates that the proposed ER model could be a new method in the heterogeneous database synchronization process and is able to shorten the synchronization process time.

China is experiencing accelerated urbanisation,with a large number of people moving from rural to urban areas[1].It has resulted in large losses in the net primary production(NPP),biodiversity and carbon stocks and an increase in environmental pollution and CO_(2)emissions[2–4].In 2015,196 countries signed the Paris Agreement and committed to setting long-term goals to jointly manage climate change and reduce their individual emissions,aiming to control the increase in global average temperature from the pre-industrial level to below 2℃and to curtail the temperature rise within 1.5℃till the end of the 21st century[5].China is bolstering its efforts to achieve the climate change mitigation goals and has announced a plan for achieving carbon neutrality by 2060[6].The carbon neutrality goal poses a challenge to the current policies promoting rapid urbanisation across China.

It is known that injective (complex or real) W∗-algebras with particular factors have been studied well enough. In the arbitrary cases, i.e., in noninjective case, to investigate (up to isomorphism) W∗-algebras is hard enough, in particular, there exist continuum pairwise nonisomorphic noninjective factors of type II. Therefore, it seems interesting to study maximal injective W∗-subalgebras and subfactors. On the other hand, the study of maximal injective W∗-subalgebras and subfactors is also related to the well-known von Neumann's bicommutant theorem. In the complex case, such subalgebras were investigated by S. Popa, L. Ge, R. Kadison, J. Fang, and J. Shen. In recent years, studies have also begun in the real case. Let us briefly recall the relevance of considering the real case. It is known that in the works of D. Topping and E. Stormer, it was shown that the study of JW-algebras (nonassociative real analogues of von Neumann algebras) of types II and III is essentially reduced to the study of real W∗-algebras of the corresponding type. It turned out that the structure of real W∗-algebras, generally speaking, differs essentially in the complex case. For example, in the finite-dimensional case, in addition to complex and real matrix algebras, quaternions also arise, i.e., matrix algebras over quaternions. In the infinite-dimensional case, it is proved that there exist, up to isomorphism, two real injective factors of type IIIλ (0<λ<1), and a countable number of pairwise nonisomorphic real injective factors of type III0, whose enveloping (complex) W∗-factors are isomorphic, is constructed. It follows from the above that the study of the real analogue of problems in the theory of operator algebras is topical. Moreover, the real analogue is a generalization of the complex case, since the class of real linear operators is much wider than the class of complex linear operators. Pergau Dam as the largest hydroelectrical generation station in Peninsular Malaysia within a mountainous region;is supplied by many flowing river as its intakes. Previous researches within Pergau area mostly focused on biodiversity while this research was to carry out baseline investigation on the minerals present in the intakes sediment of Pergau Dam through surface sampling. Through stereoscopic observation, assemblages of quartz, plagioclase, feldspar, muscovite, and biotite minerals in sediments implies a granitoid source rock. By computing X-ray Fluorescence (XRF) chemical compositional data of sediments into chemical weathering indices, overall weathering condition of Pergau Dam intakes area are unweathered to low chemical weathering intensity. Through Combination of XRF data and X-ray Diffraction (XRD) patterns of mineral phases, detailed mineralogy of plagioclases, K-feldspars, sericites, chlorites and accessory minerals such as epidotes, zircon and monazite were identified. Mineral assemblage and Streckeisen Diagram plots indicate the granitoid source rocks of the sediments are quartz monzorite and quartz monzodiorite. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Solving Burgers equation numerically using Crank-Nicolson method

In this research, the numerical method that is the Crank-Nicolson method is selected to solve one of the nonlinear wave equation, namely Burgers equations. The stability analysis is investigated and shows that the Crank-Nicolson method is unconditionally stable for the Burgers equation. The error between the analytical and numerical solutions of the Burgers equation is calculated to check the efficiency of the Crank-Nicolson method in solving the Burgers equation. The different behavior of wave propagation for the Burgers equation with different values for the nonlinear and diffusion coefficients are analyzed. Besides, the graphs of the analytical and numerical solutions are plotted to observe the details of wave propagations. The waves are become flatten and the propagation front becomes steeper when the nonlinear coefficient increases. As the viscosity parameter decreases, the propagation front becomes steeper because the dissipation effect decreases.
