Implementation of biofloc technology(BFT)system in aquaculture industry shows high productivity,low feed conversion ratio,and an optimum culture *** study was divided into two *** first phase involved maintaining the water quality using the optimum carbon-to-nitrogen ratio by manipulating pH in culture *** second phase examined the performance of harvesting biofloc(remaining phytoplankton and suspended solids in the system)using chicken eggshell powder(CESP).This study showed that pH 7 to 8 were the best biofloc performance with high removal percentage of ammonia(>99%)with a remaining ammonia concentration of 0.016 mg L^(−1)and 0.018 mg L^(−1),*** second phase of this study was performed to determine the optimal formulation and conditions of using CESP as a bio-flocculant in harvesting excess *** use of eggshell showed a higher harvesting efficiency of more than 80%under the following treatment conditions:0.25 g L^(−1)of eggshell dosage;with rapid and slow mixing rates of 150 and 30 rpm,respectively;30 min of settling time;settling velocity of 0.39 mm s^(−1)and pH of 6 to ***,the results indicated that biofloc would be the best green technology approach for sustainable aquaculture wastewater and the CESP is an organic matrix that environmental-friendly bio-coagulant for biofloc harvesting.

The COVID-19 pandemic has drastically changed the world's atmosphere. The virus itself has spread worldwide, so the misinformation related to COVID-19 also created chaos in society. The inaccurate use of infodemic terminology created misleading info about the disease. This tragedy caused panic, confusion among the public, and miscommunication between government information and the public. Several attempts using automated classification via machine learning models have been recently made to avoid the spread of this fake news. These methods require the use of labeled data. However, the scarcity of available corpora for predictive modeling, particularly in languages other than English, is a big barrier challenge in this area. To date, our proposed research may be the first step in an extensive study of fake news detection in the Malay language. We introduce MalCov (Malaysia Covid) fake news dataset for the purpose. The MalCov which contains 79.5% fake articles or approximately 171 statements are gathered from main social media platforms. The remaining statements are valid articles that have been checked and manually validated by the local authorities. All these articles are gathered from a single portal called "***"Since we are using a non-English language for this dataset, the data has been separated into contents and titles. The most frequent words used are then analyzed. Several machine learning models such as Naïve Bayes, SVM, and Logistic Regression are utilized to build the classifiers. As a result, the decision tree achieves the highest performance, which is 93.48%. Keywords-dataset;fake news;fake news detection;machine learning classification;Malay language. © 2022 IEEE.

Electrical Submersible Pump (ESP) is one of the most efficient and reliable devices for lifting moderate to high volumes of fluids from wellbores. It is commonly used in the oil and gas industry, where it provides high volumes of lifting with the flexibility to cover a range of sizes output flow capacities at various well conditions. Due to its challenging operation environment, ESP prompt to face a fatigue failure, undesirables disruption that lead to shorten its life time. Hence, this work attempts to review and summarise recent research and development in ESP performance monitoring and early fault detection focusing on mechanical and electrical failures. The paper starts with a brief explaination of pump operating mechanism followed by detail discussion on ESP failures and detail explanation of various methods on ESP performance monitoring. A recent and advance failure detection methods applied on ESP also discussed including the main principles of the motor currents signature analysis (MCSA) method. Finally, the authors discuss practical aspects and challenges related to data processing and real-world implementation on ESP monitoring condition. © 2022 IEEE.

ANN-based methods for solving partial differential equations: a survey

Traditionally, partial differential equation (PDE) problems are solved numerically through a discretization process. Iterative methods are then used to determine the algebraic system generated by this process. Recently, scientists have emerged artificial neural networks (ANNs), which solve PDE problems without a discretization process. Therefore, in view of the interest in developing ANN in solving PDEs, scientists investigated the variations of ANN which perform better than the classical discretization approaches. In this study, we discussed three methods for solving PDEs effectively, namely Pydens, NeuroDiffEq and Nangs methods. Pydens is the modified Deep Galerkin method (DGM) on the part of the approximate functions of PDEs. Then, NeuroDiffEq is the ANN model based on the trial analytical solution (TAS). Lastly, Nangs is the ANN-based method which uses the grid points for the training data. We compared the numerical results by solving the PDEs in terms of the accuracy and efficiency of the three methods. The results showed that NeuroDiffeq and Nangs have better performance in solving high-dimensional PDEs than the Pydens, while Pydens is only suitable for low-dimensional problems. © 2022 The Author(s). Mechanical properties of unsaturated polyester/epoxidized palm oil/Kenaf fibre composite at different styrene content

Polyester resin (UPE) is petroleum-based polymer that most generally utilized as matrix system in fibre-reinforced plastic (FRP) products due to its high properties per price ratio. Currently, researchers are interested in partial blends of UPE resin with vegetable oil reinforced with natural fibre to produce renewable and sustainable composite products. However, the mechanical properties of this new blending bio-composite are highly related to the curing and crosslinking process of the UPE resin;which contributed by the styrene concentration as the crosslinking agent. Thus, this research aims to investigate the effect of styrene contents on the mechanical and thermal properties of unsaturated polyester (UPE)/epoxidized palm oil (EPO)/kenaf composites. The kenaf fibres were initially treated with an alkaline solution, and the composites were prepared by the direct mixing method and fabricated by hand lay-up technique. In this research, the amount of EPO and styrene varied at 0, 10, 20, 30 wt% and 25, 35, and 45 %, respectively. The characterization of found that increasing styrene content in UPE/EPO/kenaf composites improved the crosslinking and chemical interactions in the composites. In addition, increasing styrene content also improved the tensile modulus, tensile strength, Izod impact strength and elongation at break of the UPE/EPO/kenaf composites. © 2022

During the current COVID-19 pandemic, older people are encouraged to use information, communication and technology in their everyday lives and discouraged from physical interactions. In Malaysia, it shows that implementing the Movement Control Order (MCO) to control the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic saw a shift in consumer trends, prompting businesses to explore new strategies to interact with consumers. But there is no study indicating the contributions of older people in this new business environment. Several complaints were reported regarding the usability, acceptability, and suitability of these applications for the elderly. The objectives of this study: (1) to investigate issues and challenges on older citizens in current software design quality;(2) To identify current practises on software usage amongst the older citizens, especially in e-commerce and e-business applications;and (3) To propose a model a software design quality that meets older people requirements, limitations, and expectations. This paper examines the role of activation functions in deep learning models for sea turtle recognition using the ResNet50 model. We compare six activation functions, namely Sigmoid, ReLU, Leaky ReLU, PReLU, ELU, and Swish, to identify their impact on performance. The results show that Swish and PReLU are highly effective, closely followed by Sigmoid. Interestingly, PReLU outperforms others in terms of training duration. These findings emphasize the importance of selecting the right activation function for sea turtle recognition. Researchers and practitioners can use these insights to improve accuracy and reliability in similar tasks. © 2023 IEEE.

Nowadays, the demand for marine renewable and clean energy from fluid flow in the oil and gas industry has made electricity the most sought-after and indispensable source of uncontrollable power worldwide. Vortex-Induced Vibrations (VIV) energy harvesting is a promising technology in harnessing energy from flowing water bodies. This study focuses on numerically investigating the VIV of rigid circular cylinders as a sustainable energy source, utilizing a Vortex-Induced Vibration Aquatic Clean Energy (VIVACE) converter to harvest energy from the ocean. Specifically, the research explores the vibration behavior of closely arranged cylinders with different mass ratios, both at low and high values. The study aims to understand the effects of mass ratios on the VIV converter's performance with four cylinders in close staggered formation. The power conversion of the VIV energy converter model with varying mass ratios (ranging from 2.36 to 12.96) is thoroughly examined, with simulations conducted at a Reynolds number of 82000. The results demonstrate that the maximum converted power peaks at 7.48 W for a mass ratio of 2.36, whereas a higher mass ratio of 12.96 only yields 4.33 W. This emphasizes the significant impact of lower mass ratios in enhancing the power generation from VIV. Overall, the findings of this research provide essential insights to optimize the layout of VIVACE converters in a close staggered array, facilitating the efficient harvesting of energy from flowing water bodies for sustainable and clean energy resources. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.
