We investigated the effects of Fe doping in a CuI system comprising relatively inexpensive and abundant elements, primarily to leverage the potential performance enhancement indicated by enhanced power factor of Fe doping in previous research and to explore the possibility of modifying the electronic band structure due to magnetic properties of Fe atoms. Our observations indicate that CuI, which exhibits p-type behavior owing to its intrinsic Cu vacancies, forms even more Cu vacancies when doped with Fe atoms, suggesting that CuI, despite its wide bandgap of approximately 3 eV, exhibits heavily doped semiconductor-type behavior. This is related to a complex behavior of Fe impurity, as only a fraction of Fe substitutes Cu with the majority located at the interstitial sites catalyzing the formation of Cu vacancies. Modifications of band structure due to Fe doping is realized enhancing the effective mass by approximately two times that of the undoped system. This adaptation minimizes the reduction in the Seebeck coefficient owing to the increased carrier concentration and yields a significant enhancement in the electrical conductivity by an order of magnitude. Additionally, introducing Fe atoms resulted in a finer nanostructure of the CuI system, amplifying boundary scattering and consequently playing a substantial role in reducing thermal conductivity. Through these combined effects, we realized a strategy of the ‘Phonon-glass-electron-crystal’, underpinning a marked enhancement in thermoelectric performance. © 2024, The Authors. In this work, we study for the first time jet-medium interactions in heavy-ion collisions with introduction of saturation and Sudakov effects with parameters tuned for upcoming forward calorimeter acceptances in experiments, in particular the ALICE FoCal detector. We focus on γ+jet correlations by taking into account in-medium parton evolution using the BDIM equation that describes jet interactions with the quark-gluon plasma (QGP) combined with vacuum-like emissions (VLE). We systematically introduce the early time gluon saturation dynamics through the small-x Improved Transverse Momentum Dependent factorization (ITMD). For our purpose, we use Monte Carlo programs KATIE and TMDICE to generate hard events and in-medium parton evolution, respectively. We present results of azimuthal correlations and nuclear modification ratios to gauge the impact of the gluon saturation effects at early time for the in-medium jet energy loss. © 2024, CC BY.

Spin-Selective Resonant Tunneling Induced by Rashba Spin-Orbit Interaction in Semiconductor Nanowire

We consider a single electron confined within a quantum wire in a system of two electrostatically induced quantum dots defined by nearby gates. A time-varying electric field, of single gigahertz frequency, perpendicular to the quantum wire, is used to induce Rashba coupling and enable spin-dependent resonant tunneling of the electron between two adjacent potential wells with fidelity over 99.5%. This effect can be used for high-fidelity all-electric electron-spin initialization or readout in a spin-based quantum computer. In contrast to other spin-initialization methods, our technique can be performed adiabatically without an increase in the energy of the electron. Our simulations are supported by realistic self-consistent time-dependent Poisson-Schrödinger calculations.

Min orderings and list homomorphism dichotomies for signed and unsigned graphs

The CSP dichotomy conjecture has been recently established, but a number of other dichotomy questions remain open, including the dichotomy classification of list homomorphism problems for signed graphs. Signed graphs arise naturally in many contexts, including for instance nowhere-zero flows for graphs embedded in non-orientable surfaces. For a fixed signed graph Hb, the list homomorphism problem asks whether an input signed graph Ĝ with lists L(v) ⊆ V (Ĥ ), v ∈ V (Ĝ), admits a homomorphism f to Ĥ with all f(v) ∈ L(v), v ∈ V (Ĝ). Usually, a dichotomy classification is easier to obtain for list homomorphisms than for homomorphisms, but in the context of signed graphs a structural classification of the complexity of list homomorphism problems has not even been conjectured, even though the classification of the complexity of homomorphism problems is known. Kim and Siggers have conjectured a structural classification in the special case of "weakly balanced" signed graphs. We confirm their conjecture for reflexive and irreflexive signed graphs;this generalizes previous results on weakly balanced signed trees, and weakly balanced separable signed graphs [2,1]. In the reflexive case, the result was first presented in [18], with the proof using some of our results included in this paper. In fact, here we present our full proof, as an alternative to the proof in [18]. In particular, we provide direct polynomial algorithms where previously algorithms relied on general dichotomy theorems. The irreflexive results are new, and their proof depends on first deriving a theorem on extensions of min orderings of (unsigned) bipartite graphs, which is interesting on its own. In both cases the dichotomy classification depends on a result linking the absence of certain structures called chains and invertible pairs to the existence of a so-called special min ordering. Exploring non-standard Hbb interactions at future electron-proton colliders

In this paper, we use the charged-current Higgs boson production process at future electronproton colliders, e-p → Hjve, with the subsequent decay of the Higgs boson into a bb pair, to probe the Standard Model effective field theory with dimension-six operators involving the Higgs boson and the bottom quark. The study is performed for two proposed future highenergy electron-proton colliders, the Large Hadron Electron Collider (LHeC) and the Future Circular Collider (FCC-he) at the center-of-mass energies of 1.3 TeV and 3.46 TeV, respectively. Constraints on the CP-even and CP-odd Hbb couplings are derived by analyzing the simulated signal and background samples. A realistic detector simulation is performed and a multivariate technique using the gradient Boosted Decision Trees algorithm is employed to discriminate the signal from background. Expected limits are obtained at 95% Confidence Level for the LHeC and FCC-he assuming the integrated luminosities of 1, 2 and 10 ab-1. We find that using 1 ab-1 of data, the CP-even and CP-odd Hbb couplings can be constrained with accuracies of the order of 10-3 and 10-2, respectively, and a significant region of the unprobed parameter space becomes accessible. This research presents the design of a transparent antenna for satellite internet aboard aircraft. The presented antenna comprises a triangular arrow monopole antenna fed by a tapered microstrip transmission line. It employs a polycarbonate composite substrate with a dielectric constant (εr) of 2.8 and a thickness (h) of 1 mm. The proposed transparent antenna achieves a bandwidth in the frequency range of 10.42–22.70 GHz, with an omnidirectional radiation pattern and an average gain of 2.57 dBi, effectively covering the Ku band for satellite internet applications. The antenna design was simulated using electromagnetic wave CST simulation software, and a prototype antenna was fabricated. The designed antenna exhibits a reflection coefficient of less than -10 dB throughout the 10.7–12.7 GHz frequency range, which is the operational frequency range for satellite internet and is an acceptable value in research terms. Moreover, a conductor with a thickness of 0.035 mm sits on a composite substrate material to form the antenna structure for satellite internet aboard aircraft. We need to study and apply various techniques to further enhance the antenna's performance in future designs.

Manipulating electron waves in graphene using carbon nanotube gating

Graphene with its dispersion relation resembling that of photons offers ample opportunities for applications in electron optics. The spacial variation of carrier density by external gates can be used to create electron waveguides, in analogy to optical fiber, with additional confinement of the carriers in bipolar junctions leading to the formation of few transverse guiding modes. We show that waveguides created by gating graphene with carbon nanotubes (CNTs) allow obtaining sharp conductance plateaus, and propose applications in the Aharonov-Bohm and two-path interferometers, and a pointlike source for injection of carriers in graphene. Other applications can be extended to Bernal-stacked or twisted bilayer graphene or two-dimensional electron gas. Thanks to their versatility, CNT-induced waveguides open various possibilities for electron manipulation in graphene-based devices. Copyright © 2022, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Sigma-phase Fe0.525Cr0.455Ni0.020alloy was studied by means of Mössbauer spectrometry in the temperature range of 5-293 K. The average center shift, , determined from the recorded Mössbauer spectra was shown to significantly deviate from the Debye model in the temperature range below ∼50 K i.e. in the magnetic state of the sample. The deviation is obviously due to the effect of magnetism on the lattice dynamics of the studied sample. Analysis of the -data in the paramagnetic phase in terms of the Debye model yielded the value of 437(7) K for the Debye temperature. © 2022, CC BY-NC-ND.

We study the effect of magnon interactions on the spin wave spectra of the all-in-all-out phase of the pyrochlore nearest neighbour antiferromagnet with a Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction (D). The leading order corrections to spin wave energies indicate a significant renormalisation for commonly encountered strengths of the Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya term. For low values of D we find a potential instability of the phase itself, indicated by the renormalisation of magnon frequencies to negative values. We have also studied the renormalized spectra in the presence of magnetic fields along three high symmetry directions of the lattice, namely the [111], [100] and [110] directions. Generically, we find that for a fixed value of the Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction renormalized spectra for the lowest band decrease with an increasing strength of the field. We have also analyzed the limits of the two magnon continuum and probed the possibility of magnon decay. For a range of D and the field strength we identify possible parameter regimes where the decay of the higher bands of the system are kinematically allowed. © 2025, CC BY-NC-ND.
