In this work,the evolutions of stresses in both phases of the Al/SiCp composite subjected to thermal cycling during in situ compression test were measured using Time of Flight neutron *** was confirmed that inter-phase stresses in the studied composite can be caused by differences in the coefficient of thermal expansion for the reinforcement and matrix,leading to a different variation of phase volumes during sample heating or *** results of the diffraction experiment during thermal cycling were well predicted by the Thermo-Mechanical Self-Consistent *** experimental study of elastic-plastic deformation was carried out in situ on a unique diffractometer EPSILON-MDS(JINR in Dubna,Russia)with nine detector banks measuring interplanar spacings simultaneously in 9 orientations of scattering *** the first time,the performed analysis of experimental data allowed to study the evolution of full stress tensor in both phases of the composite and to consider the decomposition of this tensor into deviatoric and hydrostatic *** was found that the novel Developed Thermo-Mechanical SelfConsistent model correctly predicted stress evolution during compressive loading,taking into account the relaxation of thermal origin hydrostatic *** comparison of this model with experimental data at the macroscopic level and the level of phases showed that strengthening of the Al/SiCp composite is caused by stress transfer from the plastically deformed A12124 matrix to the elastic SiCp reinforcement,while thermal stresses relaxation does not significantly affect the overall composite properties.

Abstract: The present paper proposes the theoretical study and mathematical approach of laser induced cavitation microbubble during lithotripsy process in soft tissue. The mathematical model is constructed via the potential function and Lagrangian equation of radial and translational dynamics of microbubble. The given model of laser-induced cavitation microbubble (as like Rayleigh–Plesset equation) is analytically solved and investigated via Plesset–Zwick method to investigate the behaviour of laser-induced cavitation microbubble and energy produced by laser-induced cavitation microbubble during lithotripsy in soft tissue. From our results, we get the energy produced by laser-induced cavitation bubble increases with increasing of the time and decreasing of the parameter Kexp which is calculated experimentally. The present mathematical approach and its analytical results are satisfied by comparing with the published experimentally results. © 2022, Allerton Press, Inc.

Neural mass models is a general name for various models describing the collective dynamics of large neural populations in terms of averaged macroscopic variables. Recently, the so-called next-generation neural mass models have attracted a lot of attention due to their ability to account for the degree of synchrony. Being exact in the limit of infinitely large number of neurons, these models provide only an approximate description of finite-size networks. In the present Letter we study finite-size effects in the collective behavior of neural networks and prove that these effects can be captured by appropriately modified neural mass models. Namely, we show that the finite size of the network leads to the emergence of the so-called shot noise appearing as a stochastic term in the neural mass model. The power spectrum of this shot noise contains pronounced peaks, therefore its impact on the collective dynamics might be crucial due to resonance effects.

The notion of convolution of two probability vectors, corresponding to a coincidence experiment can be extended for a family of binary operations determined by (tri)stochastic tensors, to describe Markov chains of a higher order. The problem of associativity, commutativity and the existence of neutral elements and inverses is analyzed for such operations. For a more general setup of multi-stochastic tensors, we present the characterization of their probability eigenvectors. Similar results are obtained for the quantum case: we analyze tristochastic channels, which induce binary operations defined in the space of quantum states. Studying coherifications of tristochastic tensors we propose a quantum analogue of the convolution of probability vectors defined for two arbitrary density matrices of the same size. Possible applications of this notion to construct schemes of error mitigation or building blocks in quantum convolutional neural networks are discussed. © 2023, CC BY-SA.

The second law of thermodynamics imposes a fundamental asymmetry in the flow of events. The so-called thermodynamic arrow of time introduces an ordering that divides the system’s state space into past, future and incomparable regions. In this work, we analyse the structure of the resulting thermal cones, i.e., sets of states that a given state can thermodynamically evolve to (the future thermal cone) or evolve from (the past thermal cone). Specifically, for a d-dimensional classical state of a system interacting with a heat bath, we find explicit construction of the past thermal cone and the incomparable region. Moreover, we provide a detailed analysis of their behaviour based on thermodynamic monotones given by the volumes of thermal cones. Results obtained apply also to other majorisation-based resource theories (such as that of entanglement and coherence), since the partial ordering describing allowed state transformations is then the opposite of the thermodynamic order in the infinite temperature limit. Finally, we also generalise the construction of thermal cones to account for probabilistic transformations. © 2022, CC BY.

We report on the chemical structure and spin Hall magnetoresistance (SMR) in epitaxial α−Fe2O3(hematite)(0001)/Pt(111) bilayers with hematite thicknesses of 6 and 15 nm grown by molecular beam epitaxy on a MgO(111) substrate. Unlike previous studies that involved Pt overlayers on hematite, the present hematite films were grown on a stable Pt buffer layer and displayed structural changes as a function of thickness. These structural differences (the presence of a ferrimagnetic phase in the thinner film) significantly affected the magnetotransport properties of the bilayers. We observed a sign change of the SMR from positive to negative when the thickness of the hematite increased from 6 to 15 nm. For α−Fe2O3(15nm)/Pt, we demonstrated room-temperature switching of the Néel order with rectangular, nondecaying switching characteristics. Such structures open the way to extending magnetotransport studies to more complex systems with double asymmetric metal/hematite/Pt interfaces.

We theoretically study scanning gate microscopy (SGM) of electron and hole trajectories in a quantum point contact (QPC) embedded in a normal-superconductor (NS) junction. At zero voltage bias, the electrons and holes transported through the QPC form angular lobes and are subject to self-interference, which marks the SGM conductance maps with interference fringes analogously as in normal systems. We predict that for an NS junction at non-zero bias a beating pattern is to occur in the conductance probed with the use of the SGM technique owing to a mismatch of the Fermi wavevectors of electrons and holes. Moreover, the SGM technique exposes a pronounced disturbance in the angular conductance pattern, as the retroreflected hole does not retrace the electron path due to wavevector difference. © 2023, CC BY.

Cu-based argyrodites have gained much attention as a new class of thermoelectric materials for energy harvesting. However, the phase transition occurring in these materials and low energy conversion performance limited their broad application in thermoelectric converters. In this work, we disclose a newly discovered highly efficient Cu8SiSxSe6-x argyrodite with stabilized high-symmetry cubic phase at above 282 K opening the practical potential of this material for the mid-temperature region applications. The temperature range broadening of the high-symmetry phase existence was possible due to the successful substitution of Se with S in Cu8SiSxSe6-x, which enhances the configurational entropy. The developed argyrodites show excellent thermoelectric performance thanks to the increased density of states effective mass and ultralow lattice thermal conductivity. Further tuning of the carrier concentration through the Cu-deviation improves the thermoelectric performance significantly. The dimensionless thermoelectric figure of merit ZT and estimated energy conversion efficiency η for Cu7.95SiS3Se3 achieve outstanding values of the 1.45 and 13 %, respectively, offering this argyrodite as a low-cost and Te-free alternative for the thermoelectric energy conversion applications. In the traditional logic synthesis, different classifications of non-reversible Boolean functions have found many applications. Recently, some attempts to deal with classifications of reversible functions have been published. In this paper, an overview of our results towards constructing a new classification of reversible functions is presented. These results were obtained due to our discussions during two Short Term Scientific Missions (STSMs) as well as during our further research in the framework of COST Action IC1405 "Reversible Computation - Extending Horizons of Computing" and were published in five papers. © The Author(s) 2020.
