The spin dynamics in two electron double quantum dots embedded in two dimensional electron gas at the interface between SrTiO3 and LaAlO3 is studied by an exact numerical solution of the time-dependent Schrödinger equation in the context of the electric dipole spin resonance experiment. Based on the three band model of 3d-electrons localized at Ti ions on the square lattice we analyze in details the singlet-triplet transition induced by the AC electric field, in the magnetic field range close to the avoided crossing which appears as a result of the spin-orbit coupling. For symmetric double quantum dots the single photon spin-flip transition is prohibited due to the parity symmetry and the transition can occur only by the higher order two-photon processes. For a weakly asymmetric system, when the first order singlet-triplet transitions are released due to the parity symmetry breaking, the spin-flip transition has a character of the Rabi oscillations for a low electric field amplitude. As the amplitude is increased the frequency of the transition is blueshifted (redshifted) for the magnetic field below (above) the single-triplet avoided crossing. For a sufficiently high magnetic field and high AC field amplitude the electric field drives the system across the avoided crossing inducing the spin-flip by the Landau-Zener-Stueckelberg-Majorana effect. Estimation of proportions of SARS-CoV-2 genome variants (e.g. variant B.1.1.7 originating from Britain, variant B.1.351 originating from South-Africa) in a population is currently done by sequencing individual samples, which demands individual laboratory processing of each sample. This labor can be significantly reduced by mixing several samples together and processing them in one batch. Our project aims to estimate the proportion of samples with given variants from such mixtures using probabilistic modeling. Copyright © 2021 for this paper by its authors.

Probing miniband structure and Hofstadter butterfly in gated graphene superlattices via magnetotransport

The presence of periodic modulation in graphene leads to a reconstruction of the band structure and formation of minibands. In an external uniform magnetic field, a fractal energy spectrum called Hofstadter butterfly is formed. Particularly interesting in this regard are superlattices with tunable modulation strength, such as electrostatically induced ones in graphene. We perform quantum transport modeling in gate-induced square two-dimensional superlattice in graphene and investigate the relation to the details of the band structure. At low magnetic field the dynamics of carriers reflects the semi-classical orbits which depend on the mini band structure. We theoretically model transverse magnetic focusing, a ballistic transport technique by means of which we investigate the minibands, their extent and carrier type. We find a good agreement between the focusing spectra and the mini band structures obtained from the continuum model, proving usefulness of this technique. At high magnetic field the calculated four-probe resistance fit the Hofstadter butterfly spectrum obtained for our superlattice. Our quantum transport modeling provides an insight into the mini band structures, and can be applied to other superlattice geometries. © 2023, Springer Nature Limited.

In this study, a series of magnesium-substituted spinels with general compositions of $\mathbf{M g}_{x} \mathrm{Cu}_{1-\mathrm{x}} \mathrm{Fe}_{2} \mathrm{O}_{4}$, where x varies from 0.0 to 1.0 a step of 0.2, was synthesize via the solgel autocombustion method. Citric acid is used as the chelating agent. The phase composition, particle size, and morphology of the materials were characterized using X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and X-ray dispersion analysis. The effects of magnesium substitution on the magnetic properties of the samples were evaluated using a vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM). Additionally, degradation tests were conducted using spectrophotometer, with methylene blue (MB) selected as the model pollutant. The study demonstrates alterations in the structure and magnetic properties of the synthesized material. The spinel produced via self-combustion was found to be a mesoporous material with strong magnetic properties and significant sensitivity to visible light. Degradation tests using methylene blue as a pollutant showed effective dye removal, achieving 95% efficiency within 160 minutes. The copper spinel modified with magnesium ions proved to be an environmentally safe, stable, and effective photo-Fenton catalyst that is simple to synthesize and suitable for practical applications.

In this paper, detection of the magnetite rust is presented by using a chipless RFID sensor based on a circular microstrip patch antenna (CMPA). The sensor is designed at the resonant frequency of 4.89 GHz by using a single-layer PCB with its dielectric constant of 4.3. Simulations were conducted to verify that the designed sensor can detect the magnetite rust through shifted resonant frequency. In simulations, the sensor was mounted on the iron with its magnetite rust. The width and depth of iron rust were varied in order to investigate the effect of iron rust on the resonant frequency. Simulation results have been shown that the proposed chipless RFID sensor and RCS' can be utilized to detect the effect of the iron rust. © 2023 IEEE.

Study of nuclear corrections on the charged hadron fragmentation functions in a Neural Network global QCD analysis

In this work, we present a new global QCD analyses, referred to as PKHFF.23, for charged pion, kaon, and unidentified light hadrons. We utilize a Neural Network to fit the high-energy lepton-lepton and lepton-hadron scattering data, enabling us to determine parton-to-hadron fragmentation functions (FFs) at next-to-leading-order (NLO) accuracy. The analyses include all available single-inclusive e+e− annihilation (SIA) and semi-inclusive deep-inelastic scattering (SIDIS) data from the COMPASS Collaboration for charged pions, kaons, and unidentified light hadrons. Taking into account the most recent nuclear parton distribution functions (nuclear PDFs) available in the literature, we evaluate the effect of nuclear corrections on the determination of light hadrons FFs. The Neural Network parametrization, enriched with the Monte Carlo methodology for uncertainty estimations, is employed for all sources of experimental uncertainties and the proton PDFs. Our results indicate that incorporating nuclear corrections has a marginal impact on the central values of FFs and their corresponding uncertainty bands. The inclusion of such corrections does not significantly affect the fit quality of the data as well. The study suggests that while nuclear corrections are a consideration, their impact in such QCD analysis is limited. Copyright © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

New architecture of a deep neural network for identification of functional groups of molecules based on FTIR spectra is presented. The architecture employs the innovative Kolmogorov-Arnold layers. Instead of a single weight, each input in neurons belonging to these layers, possesses an independent learnable activation function. The article analyses the quality of the neural network prediction for convolutional network containing Kolmogorow-Arnold layers in comparison with a classic convolutional neural network for 22 functional groups. Graphene-based van der Waals heterostructures take advantage of tailoring spin-orbit coupling (SOC) in the graphene layer by the proximity effect. At long wavelength—saddled by the electronic states near the Dirac points—the proximitized features can be effectively modeled by the Hamiltonian involving novel SOC terms and allow for an admixture of the tangential and radial spin-textures—by the so-called Rashba angle θR. Taking such effective models we perform realistic large-scale magnetotransport calculations—transverse magnetic focusing and Dyakonov-Perel spin relaxation—and show that there are unique qualitative and quantitative features allowing for an unbiased experimental disentanglement of the conventional Rashba SOC from its novel radial counterpart, called here the radial Rashba SOC. Along with that, we propose a scheme for a direct estimation of the Rashba angle by exploring the magneto response symmetries when swapping an in-plane magnetic field. To complete the story, we analyze the magnetotransport and spin-relaxation signatures in the presence of an emergent Dresselhaus SOC and also provide some generic ramifications about possible scenarios of the radial superconducting diode effect.

Discovery of the high thermoelectric performance in low-cost Cu8SiSxSe6-x argyrodites

Cu-based argyrodites have gained much attention as a new class of thermoelectric materials for energy harvesting. However, the phase transition occurring in these materials and low energy conversion performance limited their broad application in thermoelectric converters. In this work, we disclose a newly discovered highly efficient Cu8SiSxSe6-x argyrodite with stabilized high-symmetry cubic phase at above 282 K opening the practical potential of this material for the mid-temperature region applications. The temperature range broadening of the high-symmetry phase existence was possible due to the successful substitution of Se with S in Cu8SiSxSe6-x, which enhances the configurational entropy. The developed argyrodites show excellent thermoelectric performance thanks to the increased density of states effective mass and ultralow lattice thermal conductivity. Further tuning of the carrier concentration through the Cu-deviation improves the thermoelectric performance significantly. The dimensionless thermoelectric figure of merit ZT and estimated energy conversion efficiency η for Cu7.95SiS3Se3 achieve outstanding values of the 1.45 and 13 %, respectively, offering this argyrodite as a low-cost and Te-free alternative for the thermoelectric energy conversion applications. Scalar-assisted magnetogenesis during the radiation-dominated epoch

We propose a novel mechanism to generate primordial magnetic fields (PMFs) strong enough to explain the observed cosmic magnetic fields. We employ a scalar field charged under U(1) gauge symmetry with a non-trivial VEV to provide an effective mass term to the EM field and thus break its conformal invariance. The primordial magnetogenesis takes place in the radiation dominated (RD) epoch, after the electroweak symmetry breaking (EWSB) phase. As a result, our mechanism is naturally free from the overproduction of electric fields due to high conductivity in the RD epoch, and the baryon isocurvature problem which takes place only if magneto-genesis happens before the ESWB phase. In addition, we find that a significant amount of PMFs can be generated when the scalar field experiences a tachyonic phase. In this case, the scalar field is light and weakly coupled and has negligible energy density compared to the cold dark matter, hence the strong coupling problem and the back-reaction problem are also absent. Therefore, our model is free from the above-mentioned problems that frequently appear in other primordial magneto-genesis scenarios. © 2025, CC BY.
