We present a general framework for modeling power magnetic materials characteristics using deep neural networks. Magnetic materials represented by multidimensional characteristics (that mimic measurements) are used to train the neural autoencoder model in an unsupervised manner. The encoder is trying to predict the material parameters of a theoretical model, which is then used in a decoder part. The decoder, using the predicted parameters, reconstructs the input characteristics. The neural model is trained to capture a synthetically generated set of characteristics that can cover a broad range of material behaviors, leading to a model that can generalize on the underlying physics rather than just optimize the model parameters for a single measurement. After setting up the model, we prove its usefulness in the complex problem of modeling magnetic materials in the frequency and current (out-of-linear range) domains simultaneously, for which we use measured characteristics obtained for frequency up to 10 MHz and H-field up to saturation. Parkinson’s disease ranks as the second most prevalent neurodegenerative disorder globally. This research aims to develop a system leveraging Mixed Reality capabilities for tracking and assessing eye movements. In this paper, we present a medical scenario and outline the development of an application designed to capture eye-tracking signals through Mixed Reality technology for the evaluation of neurodegenerative diseases. Additionally, we introduce a pipeline for extracting clinically relevant features from eye-gaze analysis, describing the capabilities of the proposed system from a medical perspective. The study involved a cohort of healthy control individuals and patients suffering from Parkinson’s disease, showcasing the feasibility and potential of the proposed technology for non-intrusive monitoring of eye movement patterns for the diagnosis of neurodegenerative *** relevance— Developing a non-invasive biomarker for Parkinson’ s disease is urgently needed to accurately detect the disease’s onset. This would allow for the timely introduction of neuroprotective treatment at the earliest stage and enable the continuous monitoring of intervention outcomes. The ability to detect subtle changes in eye movements allows for early diagnosis, offering a critical window for intervention before more pronounced symptoms emerge. Eye tracking provides objective and quantifiable biomarkers, ensuring reliable assessments of disease progression and cognitive function. The eye gaze analysis using Mixed Reality glasses is wireless, facilitating convenient assessments in both home and hospital settings. This paper describes our participating system run to the argumentative text understanding shared task for AI Debater at NLPCC 2021 (http://***/sharedtask/AIDebater21/*** ). The tasks are motivated towards developing an autonomous debating system. We make an initial attempt with Track-3, namely, argument pair extraction from peer review and rebuttal where we extract arguments from peer reviews and their corresponding rebuttals from author responses. Compared to the multi-task baseline by the organizers, we introduce two significant changes: (i) we use ERNIE 2.0 token embedding, which can better capture lexical, syntactic, and semantic aspects of information in the training data, (ii) we perform double attention learning to capture long-term dependencies. Our proposed model achieves the state-of-the-art results with a relative improvement of 8.81% in terms of F1 score over the baseline model. We make our code available publicly at https://***/guneetsk99/ArgumentMining_SharedTask. Our team ARGUABLY is one of the third prize-winning teams in Track 3 of the shared task. © 2021, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

In this work, a new method for analysis of neutron diffraction results obtained during in situ tensile load is tested and applied to study elastic-plastic properties of textured duplex steel. The methodology is based on the measurements of lattice strains for several hkl reflections and for different orientations of the sample with respect to the scattering vector. As the result, the full stress tensor for preferred texture orientations in function of applied stress has been determined using the crystallite group method (CGM). Knowing the experimental values of stresses, the stress concentration tensor is determined. The experimental data are then compared with self-consistent model calculations performed for groups of grains corresponding to the measured hkl reflections. The important advance of the proposed experimental methodology consists in the possibility of estimating the critical resolved shear stresses (CRSSs) directly from measurements, without the use of any elastic-plastic *** the research carried out, on the basis of diffraction measurements, the evolution of grain stresses in preferred orientations in the ferritic and austenitic phases of the tested duplex steel was determined. Using these data, the evolution of the resolved shear stress (RSS) was analysed and, for the first time, CRSS values in both duplex phases were obtained directly from the experimental data. The final results also took into account the influence of initial stresses in the obtained material on the determined CRSSs. © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Integrability and Linearizability of a Family of Three-Dimensional Polynomial Systems

We investigate the local integrability and linearizability of a family of three-dimensional polynomial systems with the matrix of the linear approximation having the eigenvalues 1, ζ, ζ2, where ζ is a primitive cubic root of unity. We establish a criterion for the convergence of the Poincaré–Dulac normal form of the systems and examine the relationship between the normal form and integrability. Additionally, we introduce an efficient algorithm to determine the necessary conditions for the integrability of the systems. This algorithm is then applied to a quadratic subfamily of the systems to analyze its integrability and linearizability. Our findings offer insights into the integrability properties of three-dimensional polynomial systems. Copyright © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

The paper presents the rotated 3D-printed dielectric lens assembly with an ultra-wideband (UWB) antenna for use in the beam-steering applications. The focus is on achieving beam steering by combining the rotated 3D-printed dielectric lens assembly with a hemispherical lens and UWB antenna. The UWB antenna is fabricated on an FR-4 substrate, while the hemispherical lens and the rotated 3D-printed lens assembly are made from Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS). To enable the hemispherical lens to rotate to the specified angle, a set of rotatable 3D-printed lenses was etched to determine five angles: -60degrees, -30degrees, 0degrees, 30degrees, and 60degrees. Both simulation and measurement results indicate that at a beginning frequency of 3.5 GHz, the beam cannot be steered when using the UWB antenna with the 3D-printed ABS lens rotated hemispherical lens assembly. However, at middle and high frequencies of 7.0 GHz and 10.0 GHz, respectively, the beam can be steered according to the direction of rotation of the hemispherical lens.

Genuine multifractality in time series is due to temporal correlations

Based on the mathematical arguments formulated within the multifractal detrended fluctuation analysis (MFDFA) approach it is shown that, in the uncorrelated time series from the Gaussian basin of attraction, the effects resembling multifractality asymptotically disappear for positive moments when the length of time series increases. A hint is given that this applies to the negative moments as well and extends to the Lévy stable regime of fluctuations. The related effects are also illustrated and confirmed by numerical simulations. This documents that the genuine multifractality in time series may only result from the long-range temporal correlations, and the fatter distribution tails of fluctuations may broaden the width of the singularity spectrum only when such correlations are present. The frequently asked question of what makes multifractality in time series—temporal correlations or broad distribution tails—is thus ill posed. In the absence of correlations only the bifractal or monofractal cases are possible. The former corresponds to the Lévy stable regime of fluctuations while the latter to the ones belonging to the Gaussian basin of attraction in the sense of the central limit theorem.

Decentralized finance (DeFi) has revolutionized the financial landscape, with protocols like Uniswap offering innovative automated market-making mechanisms. This article explores the development of a backtesting framework specifically tailored for concentrated liquidity market makers (CLMM). The focus is on leveraging the liquidity distribution approximated using a parametric model, to estimate the rewards within liquidity pools. The article details the design, implementation, and insights derived from this novel approach to backtesting within the context of Uniswap V3. The developed backtester was successfully utilized to assess reward levels across several pools using historical data from 2023 (pools Uniswap v3 for pairs of altcoins, stablecoins and USDC/ETH with different fee levels). Moreover, the error in modeling the level of rewards for the period under review for each pool was less than 1%. This demonstrated the effectiveness of the backtester in quantifying liquidity pool rewards and its potential in estimating LP’s revenues as part of the pool rewards, as focus of our next research. The backtester serves as a tool to simulate trading strategies and liquidity provision scenarios, providing a quantitative assessment of potential returns for liquidity providers (LP). By incorporating statistical tools to mirror CLMM pool liquidity dynamics, this framework can be further leveraged for strategy enhancement and risk evaluation for LPs operating within decentralized exchanges. © 2024, CC BY.

This paper proposes the design of metamaterial surfaces based on interdigital coplanar waveguide (CPW) unit cells. By using this technique, the unit cell can have negative permeability with size reduction to λ/8. The result causes from the slow wave effect on transmission line in the structure, which electrical and physical lengths of transmission line are not equal from that effect. The proposed matamaterial surfaces at some resonant frequencies have been designed and used as reflectors and directors applied for antenna applications. Using the designed reflectors or directors, the antenna performances have been increased. The proposed metamaterial surfaces will be appropriate for modern wireless communication systems. © 2023 IEEE.

igh-pressure studies of well-defined catalysts, deposited on planar supports in ultra-high vacuum using physical methods, may bridge the gap between surface science and applied catalysis approaches in order to develop better catalysts for crucial reactions such as CO2 hydrogenation. However, the chemical reactors necessary for such investigations, typically involving catalyst quantities down to a few hundred nanograms, are lacking. We present the novel design and evaluation of a 50 µL rectangular microchannel reactor capable of testing small quantities of catalyst at pressures up to 40 bar and temperatures up to 240°C. To evaluate the microreactor performance, Pd0.25Zn0.75Ox nanoclusters soft-landed on SiO2-coated mica sheets using the cluster beam deposition technique, were tested for the reverse water-gas shift reaction through a series of kinetic experiments. Experimental results, combined with computational fluid dynamics and mass transport analysis, demonstrate that the proposed microreactor setup allows for testing minute quantities of catalysts with very high sensitivity at industrially relevant temperatures and pressures. Although not restricted to a particular catalyst preparation method, the setup is an excellent platform for conducting catalytic tests on composition-controlled, mass-selected, gas-phase nanoparticles deposited on planar substrates, facilitating the determination of reliable structure-activity relationships and enabling a more rational design of catalysts © 2024, The Authors.
