In order to perform fault classification using machine learning algorithms, sufficient and balanced data is required. The paper presents a novel approach for data augmentation using a Generative Adversarial Network (GAN) with transient, time-dependent vibration data. The proposed approach aims to generate synthetic data in form of spectrograms that closely resemble the characteristics of the real data sets. Synthetic data generation can be used to improve the training performance of neural networks for vibration analysis if not enough or unbalanced real data is available. The authors demonstrate the effectiveness of this approach by training a vibration-based fault detection model using synthetic data and comparing its performance to a model trained on real data only as well as with a t-distributed stochastic neighbour embedding (t-SNE). Real data is acquired on a bearing test rig and measurements are carried out on bearings with four different system states. The results show that the model trained with the synthetic data set outperforms the model trained with real data only, indicating that the synthetic data generated by the proposed approach can improve the training performance and accuracy of the machine learning model. Overall, the paper highlights the potential of GAN-based data augmentation approach via spectrograms for vibration analysis and offers insights into its practical application to bearings. © 2023 The Authors. Comparative Analysis of Ensemble Learning Techniques for Brain Tumor Classification

For the evaluation of our work, we used a brain tumor MRI dataset obtained from Kaggle for the experimental analysis. Our study investigates the performance of ensemble learning techniques for brain tumor classification. This study focuses on comparing the efficacy of homogenous ensemble classifiers, exemplified by the Random Forest (RF) algorithm, against heterogeneous ensemble classifiers like Voting and Stacking, this study embarks on a thorough evaluation journey. Our evaluation is not limited to accuracy measures only;instead, it surrounds recall, ROC AUC, precision, and F1-score, for better assessment of classifiers’ performance. Our findings demonstrate that the Random Forest classifier achieved an accuracy of 99%, an F1 score of 0.99%, and AUC of 0.99%, outperforming other ensemble techniques like Voting and Stacking classifiers. Building upon an observed assessment performed on an appropriately selected brain tumor dataset, we provide solid empirical support demonstrating that RF not only performs better than base classifiers but also outperforms the heterogeneous ensemble methods in terms of many different performance measures. Furthermore, we discuss the specific reason that makes RF outperform other algorithms in this dataset and discuss the robustness and flexibility of this method. By unscrambling these insights, this paper addresses to fill gaps in the existing knowledge regarding the ensemble learning techniques in medical imaging, particularly for brain tumor classification diagnostics. © 2024 Slovene Society Informatika. Interplay of longitudinal and transverse expansion in the kinetic dynamics of heavy-ion collisions

The early dynamics in heavy-ion collisions involves a rapid, far from equilibrium evolution. This early pre-equilibrium stage of the dynamics can be modeled using kinetic equations. The effect of this pre-equilibrium stage on final observables derived from transverse momenta of emitted particles is small. The kinetic equations in the relaxation time approximation for a nonboost invariant system are solved. The asymmetry of the flow with respect to the reaction plane at different rapidities is found to be very sensitive to the degree of nonequilibrium in the evolution. This suggests that the rapidity odd directed flow could be studied to identify the occurrence of nonequilibrium effects and to estimate the asymmetry of the pressure between the longitudinal and transverse directions in the collision.

This research addresses the escalating threats to industrial control systems by introducing a novel approach that combines deep learning for feature selection with a robust ensemble-based classification technique to enhance anomaly detection. Our method utilizes a tailored autoencoder architecture to efficiently select features, followed by a Random Forest classifier to ensure reliable and generalizable detection of anomalies. Evaluated on the HAI Security Dataset, the proposed approach demonstrates exceptional performance, with significant improvements in detecting anomalous activities in ICS. The results highlight the method’s potential to enhance ICS security by providing a scalable and adaptable framework that evolves with emerging threats. This study not only advances cybersecurity methodologies for industrial systems but also lays the groundwork for future research, emphasizing the need for innovative and effective security solutions in the face of evolving cyber challenges. © Bharati Vidyapeeth's Institute of computer Applications and Management 2024.

This paper presents the development of a multilingual hate speech detection model that effectively processes and classifies content in both Arabic and English. The study leverages both traditional machine learning models, such as K-Nearest Neighbors (KNN), Naive Bayes, and Support Vector Machines (SVM), as well as advanced deep learning models, specifically Bi-directional Long Short-Term Memory (Bi-LSTM) networks. A key challenge addressed is the classification of mixed-language content, which is common on social media platforms in the MENA region. To enhance detection performance, preprocessing techniques were applied to the text data, and the Synthetic Minority Over-sampling Technique (SMOTE) was used to balance the dataset. The results show that the Bi-LSTM model outperformed traditional machine learning approaches, particularly in identifying hate speech across multiple languages. The proposed model demonstrates superior accuracy and robustness in handling mixed-language input, providing a more effective solution for real-world hate speech detection tasks. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

Full-marathon and Half-marathon distances are categorized as road running. Full-marathon running is becoming increasingly popular, and Half-marathon is increasing worldwide in both sexes and all age groups. Some aspects might relate to Full-marathon and Half-marathon running performance during training and races. technology also plays an essential role in supporting runners and running races. technology like artificial intelligence (AI) now supports the running athlete, not only predicting performance and results. It can also be used later to help the coach generate training programs for the athlete. This research aimed to find many aspects of marathons and performance and analyze them to see if artificial intelligence could later support them. It used secondary data and a systematic literature review proposed by Kitchenham. Out of the 58 articles, 21 of them (36.21%) received a score of 1 from Q1. Additionally, 19 articles (32.76%) received a score of 1 from both Q2 and Q3. Among the 58 articles, 9 (15.52%) received a total score of 3, with all three Q1, Q2, and Q3 scores being 1. This indicates that artificial intelligence will likely support the content of these nine articles. Several factors were also discovered to be connected to marathons and athletic performance. These findings suggested that additional investigation into marathons and performance, later backed by artificial intelligence, remained pertinent and essential. © 2024 IEEE.

The accurate prediction of the friction angle of clays is crucial for assessing slope stability in engineering *** study addresses the importance of estimating the friction angle and presents the development of four soft computing models:YJ-FPA-MLPnet,YJ-CRO-MLPnet,YJ-ACOC-MLPnet,and *** of all,the Yeo-Johnson(YJ)transformation technique was used to stabilize the variance of data and make it more suitable for parametric statistical models that assume normality and equal *** technique is expected to improve the accuracy of friction angle prediction *** friction angle prediction models then utilized multi-layer perceptron neural networks(MLPnet)and metaheuristic optimization algorithms to further enhance performance,including flower pollination algorithm(FPA),coral reefs optimization(CRO),ant colony optimization continuous(ACOC),and cuckoo search algorithm(CSA).The prediction models without the YJ technique,***-MLPnet,CRO-MLPnet,ACOC-MLPnet,and CSA-MLPnet,were then compared to those with the YJ technique,***-FPA-MLPnet,YJ-CRO-MLPnet,YJ-ACOC-MLPnet,and *** these,the YJ-CRO-MLPnet model demonstrated superior reliability,achieving an accuracy of up to 83%in predicting the friction angle of clay in practical engineering *** improvement is significant,as it represents an increase from 1.3%to approximately 20%compared to the models that did not utilize the YJ transformation technique.

The research analyzed how to identify fake news effectively, understanding the developing capabilities to differentiate between misinformation and the correct nature of news in today’s complex media environment. Numerous approaches were tested: mostly the ways of determining if a certain message is valid or false. With application of Logistic Regression, Random Forest and lastly LSTM models, the research has been able to achieve 98.7%, 98.8%, and 95% accuracies respectively, showing that these traditional and advanced techniques are very effective. However, it became apparent that these models performed poorly as soon as tested on a new dataset and the discrepancy was not being able to understand context while being trained. Understanding the context is the key in news identification, so the research turned to BERT, the Transformer model pre-trained with huge contextual data to perform this task. Drawing on its deep and diverse knowledge base, BERT has shown a remarkable aptitude for sorting news articles into fake/real categories based on their context. Logistic Regression, Random Forest, and LSTM models demonstrated that although they were able to build models that were highly accurate up to 99% on familiar data, their accuracy dropped disproportionately as soon as new data was given. BERT, despite having a lower overall accuracy of 84% demonstrated a better sensitivity to contextual nuances in the news data. Here, the importance of contextualized conception in the sphere of fake news detection should be emphasized as a way to take advantage of BERT’s complicated comprehension which is a promising alternative of more accurate and effective identification as the media landscapes of the modern times may be complex and diverse. Despite the fact that the classical models surpass in planned environments, BERT’s capability of contextualization made it irreplaceable for evidence as the news sources in uncommon circumstances can digress from base. © 2024 IEEE.
