The aquaculture industry has witnessed a significant surge in technological integration over the past decade, leveraging advancements in the Internet of Things (IoT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to enhance production efficiency. Monitoring the growth of aquatic cultures, such as fishes and prawns, plays a pivotal role in optimizing production. However, traditional methods, notably in prawn aquaculture in Asia, still heavily rely on stress-inducing techniques like netting and manual measurements. This paper proposes a novel approach using YOLO-based detection algorithm with biocode reference point based on the ArUco design to predict prawn size based on the length and are dimension to analysed the improvement in predicting the size. The propose solution is compared extensively using statistical tests against segmentation model with and without fine-tuning. Initial results show that both YOLOv8 segmentation and YOLOv8 with Segment Anything Model (SAM) give similar results with the actual mean length of 15.7 cm and predicted mean lengths are 20.5 cm and 20.8 cm respectively. However, after fine-tuning the parameter, the accuracy of predicted results improved significantly with 15.8 cm for YOLOv8 segmentation and 16 cm for YOLOv8 with SAM. The mean absolute error of 0.93 cm for YOLOv8 segmentation and 1.10 cm for YOLOv8 with SAM, and the width of 0.48 cm and 0.78 cm respectively.

Diffusive Persistence on Disordered Lattices and Random Networks

To better understand the temporal characteristics and the lifetime of fluctuations in stochastic processes in networks, we investigated diffusive persistence in various graphs. Global diffusive persistence is defined as the fraction of nodes for which the diffusive field at a site (or node) has not changed sign up to time t (or in general, that the node remained active/inactive in discrete models). Here we investigate disordered and random networks and show that the behavior of the persistence depends on the topology of the network. In two-dimensional (2D) disordered networks, we find that above the percolation threshold diffusive persistence scales similarly as in the original 2D regular lattice, according to a power law P(t, L) ∼ t-θwith an exponent θ ≅ 0.186, in the limit of large linear system size L. At the percolation threshold, however, the scaling exponent changes to θ ≅ 0.141, as the result of the interplay of diffusive persistence and the underlying structural transition in the disordered lattice at the percolation threshold. Moreover, studying finite-size effects for 2D lattices at and above the percolation threshold, we find that at the percolation threshold, the long-time asymptotic value obeys a power-law P(t, L) ∼ L-zθwith z ≅ 2.86 instead of the value of z = 2 normally associated with finite-size effects on 2D regular lattices. In contrast, we observe that in random networks without a local regular structure, such as Erdos-Rényi networks, no simple power-law scaling behavior exists above the percolation threshold. Landauer’s limit on heat dissipation during information erasure is critical as devices shrink, requiring optimal pure-state preparation to minimise errors. However, Nernst’s third law states this demands infinite resources in energy, time, or control complexity. We address the challenge of cooling quantum systems with finite resources. Using Markovian collision models, we explore resource trade-offs and present efficient cooling protocols (that are optimal for qubits) for coherent and incoherent control. Leveraging thermodynamic length, we derive bounds on heat dissipation for swap-based strategies and discuss the limitations of preparing pure states efficiently. Copyright © 2024, The Authors. The Internet of Things (IoT) has revolutionized the way people interact, communicate, and perform daily activities in various domains ranging from households to industries and cities. MQTT is one of the commonly adopted protocols for implementing IoT. However, IoT systems that are connected through MQTT are susceptible to security breaches as MQTT was not originally designed with security as a priority. The credentials and messages transmitted in plaintext by default, thereby compromising data confidentiality and integrity. This study presents a comprehensive analysis of the MQTT protocol, including experimentation on an MQTT system using various cryptographic implementations, such as AES-CBC, RSA, and ECC AES Hybrid Scheme, to assess the processing time and message size. The findings indicate that payload encryption increases processing time and message bytes. Among the cryptographic implementations, RSA incurs the highest processing time, followed by ECC AES Hybrid Scheme and AES- CBC. Furthermore, the study demonstrates the effectiveness of attack prevention between standard MQTT and secured MQTT implementations by simulating various IoT attacks, such as black-box penetration attack, identity spoofing, DoS attack, and MITM attack. The results and subsequent discussion provide insights that answer the research question, revealing the cryptographic algorithms that result in the most overhead on the standard MQTT implementation and their capacity to resist common attacks.

The growing number of connected Internet of Things (IoT) devices has led to the daily growth of network botnet attacks. The networks of compromised devices controlled by a single entity can be used for malicious purposes such as denial of service distributed IoT botnet attacks and theft of personal information. The weak security measures of many IoT devices make them easy targets for compromise and inclusion in botnets. In this research, we propose a system for detecting botnet attacks. We develop an ensemble learning system to detect botnets in network traffic with high-performance scores. The system will analyze the traffic and identify any suspicious behavior that may indicate the presence of a botnet. For this purpose, we use the benchmark CTU-13 dataset to build the applied machine learning and deep learning techniques for comparison. We propose a novel ensemble technique, K-neighbors, Decision tree, and Random forest (KDR), to achieve high performance for botnet attack detection. Study results show that the proposed KDR gives 99.7% accuracy in 12.99 s. Hyperparameter optimization and k-fold cross-validation are employed to substantiate the performance. Our research study contributes to the body of knowledge on the detection of botnet attacks and provides a practical solution for securing IoT devices against botnet attacks. © 2023 The Author(s)

The paper presents research on the fabrication and electrical characterization of transparent contacts based on ZnO. Contact layers were manufactured in the process of physical vapor deposition (PVD) by the codeposition method, which allowed to obtain thin layers with various compositions and parameters. The evaporation unit NANO36 (Kurt&Lesker) allows real-time control of such parameters as the rate of layer growth, the composition of the obtained structure and its resultant *** tests of the current-voltage characteristics were performed by typical source measure unit KEITHLEY 4200-scs system. Surface analysis was performed using an AFM microscope. The structures can be used in thin-film cells and are an alternative to ITO contacts.

We present a novel solution procedure for initial boundary value problems. The procedure is based on an action principle, in which coordinate maps are included as dynamical degrees of freedom. This reparametrization invariant action is formulated in an abstract parameter space and an energy density scale associated with the space-time coordinates separates the dynamics of the coordinate maps and of the propagating fields. Treating coordinates as dependent, i.e. dynamical quantities, offers the opportunity to discretize the action while retaining all space-time symmetries and also provides the basis for automatic adaptive mesh refinement (AMR). The presence of unbroken space-time symmetries after discretization also ensures that the associated continuum Noether charges remain exactly conserved. The presence of coordinate maps in addition provides new freedom in the choice of boundary conditions. An explicit numerical example for wave propagation in 1 + 1 dimensions is provided, using recently developed regularized summation-by-parts finite difference operators. © 2024, CC BY.

Colossal magnetoresistive (CMR) materials have been widely studied because of their huge potential in spintronic technology. An introduction of secondary phase to the manganite matrix is able to improve the low field magnetoresistance (LFMR). This method is favoured by recent research works as it requires a lower magnetic field compared to intrinsic magnetoresistance. Structural, magnetic properties and magnetotransport properties of polycrystalline (1-x) La0.67Ca0.33MnO3 (LCMO): x TiO2 composites where x = 0.00, 0.05, 0.10, 0.15 and 0.20 were investigated in this work. Polycrystalline La0.67Ca0.33MnO3 (LCMO) was synthesized via sol-gel method and pre-sintered at 800 ºC before appending with nano-sized TiO2. All samples are in LCMO phase having an orthorhombic structure with space group Pnma. The crystal structural parameter was studied by using Rietveld refinement. As the TiO2 content increases, the magnetization is getting higher as observed via vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM) analysis at room temperature. Magnetotransport properties of the pure LCMO sample have been studied from 80 – 220 K. The LFMR is enhanced as the temperature drops. The results have shown LCMO: TiO2 manganite composite is an excellent candidate for future magnetic sensors and memory devices. © 2020 Trans Tech Publications Ltd, Switzerland.

Infinite-layer nickelates show high-temperature superconductivity, and the experimental phase diagram agrees well with the one simulated within the dynamical vertex approximation (DΓA). Here, we compare the spin-fluctuation spectrum behind these calculations to resonant inelastic Xray scattering experiments. The overall agreement is good. This independent cross-validation of the strength of spin fluctuations strongly supports the scenario, advanced by DΓA, that spin-fluctuations are the mediator of the superconductivity observed in nickelates. © 2023, CC BY.

The breaking of space-time symmetries and the non-conservation of the associated Noether charges constitutes a central artifact in lattice field theory. In [1, 2] we have shown how to overcome this limitation for classical actions describing point particle motion, using the world-line formalism of general relativity. The key is to treat coordinate maps (from an abstract parameter space into space-time) as dynamical and dependent degrees of freedom, which remain continuous after discretization of the underlying parameter space. Here we present latest results [3] where we construct a reparameterization invariant classical action for scalar fields, which features dynamical coordinate maps. We highlight the following achievements of our approach: 1) global space-time symmetries remain intact after discretization and the associated Noether charges remain exactly preserved 2) coordinate maps adapt to the dynamics of the scalar field leading to adaptive grid resolution guided by the symmetries. © 2024, CC BY.
