Traditionally, there has been a method to extract the charge radius of a hadron based on the fits of its form factor with some model assumptions. In contrast, a completely different method has been proposed, which does not depend on the models. In this report, we explore several improvements to this model-independent method for analyzing the pion charge radius. Furthermore, we compare the results of the pion charge radius obtained from Nf = 2 + 1 lattice QCD data at mπ = 0.51 GeV using the three different methods: the traditional model-dependent method, the original model-independent method, and our improved model-independent method. Physicians and Dieticians usually rely on a body-composition (BC) assessment for diagnosing and treating their patients. Measuring BC provides a quantitative estimation of the amount and distribution of fat, muscle, bone, and water compartments in the body. There is no single measurement and/or error-free method in existence that allows for the measurement of all tissues. The Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis (BIA) instruments are preferred in medicine because of their precision and reliability for measuring BC. BIA measures the opposition to the flow of a weak electric AC at single or multiple frequencies through electrodes attached to the hands and feet of a subject. In the following, we will give a detailed analysis of the mathematical description of the BIA technique, with emphasis on frequency dispersion analysis by circular arc plots in the complex plane and equivalent circuit modeling for validating BC data of various compartments. © 2021 IEEE.

Energy monitoring is one of the important points of a Home Energy Management System (HEMS) and aims to perform itemized energy detection in order to extract information on the distribution of energy consumed. This task can be accomplished by installing measuring devices at every load of interest or by using Non-Intrusive Load Monitoring (NILM) methods, which desegregate the overall electricity usage, utilizing a measure of the load at the utility service entry. In this paper, we first present a comprehensive literature review of the most important and recent computational intelligence techniques for energy disaggregation proposed in the literature. Afterward, we discuss the limitations of the studied works and then highlight challenges and guidelines for future research. © 2020 IEEE.

The equiatomic titanium-nickel alloy, known as nitinolNitinol, is a highly sought-after titanium-based alloy used in biomedical applications, particularly in orthopedic implants. Its outstanding properties, such as low density, shape memory effect, high wear and corrosion resistance, good biocompatibility, and low Young's modulus compared to stainless steelSteel or cobalt alloys, make it a truly impressive material. The present paper discusses the most significant findings on the tribological behavior of nitinolNitinol for biomedical applications. The crystallite size was estimated by X-ray diffraction (XRDX-ray Diffraction (XRD)), and the hardness was determined by nanoindentation. The study found that as the milling time increased, the size of the crystallite decreased while the hardness increased. The results of the tribological tests indicated that the enhanced mechanical propertiesMechanical properties, particularly the increased hardness and grain refinement of the alloys, contributed to the improved tribological performanceTribological performance of nitinolNitinol, specifically in terms of reduced wear rateWear rate and friction coefficientFriction coefficient. Air pollution has caused widespread concern, particularly in developing nations such as India and China. Despite the availability of expensive or inaccurate methods such as sensor-based or community network-based approaches, image-based air pollution evaluation still requires significant improvement. In response to this pressing issue, our research develops an accurate Deep Learning (DL) model for estimating air quality from environmental images. We employed Visual Geometry Group 19 (VGG-19) and Residual Network 50 (ResNet-50) as DL models. The air quality dataset was collected from the internet and grouped into three categories: Good, Moderate, and Severe, based on the Particulate Matter (PM) values. Image pre-processing techniques such as resizing and rescaling were used. The DL models were evaluated using accuracy, loss, and time metrics. ResNet-50 was identified as the best model for identifying air quality based on the images. The achieved accuracy level by ResNet-50 is 97.87%, and it takes 45.02 seconds to analyze the test data count of 90 images. This shows the effectiveness of the ResNet-50 model in air quality prediction.

Discrete symmetries play an important role in particle physics with violation of CP connected to the matter-antimatter imbalance in the Universe. We report the most precise test of P, T and CP invariance in decays of ortho-positronium, performed with methodology involving polarization of photons from these decays. Positronium, the simplest bound state of an electron and positron, is of recent interest with discrepancies reported between measured hyperfine energy structure and theory at the level of 10−4 signaling a need for better understanding of the positronium system at this level. We test discrete symmetries using photon polarizations determined via Compton scattering in the dedicated J-PET tomograph on an event-by-event basis and without the need to control the spin of the positronium with an external magnetic field, in contrast to previous experiments. Our result is consistent with QED expectations at the level of 0.0007 and one standard deviation. © 2024, CC BY.

Creating high-contrast patterns in multiple-scattering media via wavefront shaping

Wavefront shaping allows focusing light through or inside strongly scattering media, but the background intensity also increases due to long-range correlations, reducing the target's contrast. By manipulating non-local intensity correlations of scattered waves in a disordered system with input wavefront shaping, we create high-contrast patterns behind strongly scattering media and targeted energy delivery into a diffusive system with minimal change in the surrounding intensity. These are achieved by introducing the contrast operator and the difference operator, and utilizing their eigenstates to maximize the target-to-background intensity contrast and energy difference. This work opens the door to coherent control of non-local effects in wave transport for practical applications. Copyright © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

The Human-Centered Internet of Things(HC-IoT)is fast becoming a hotbed of security and privacy *** users can establish a common session key through a trusted server over an open communication channel using a three-party authenticated key *** of the early authenticated key agreement systems relied on pairing,hashing,or modular exponentiation processes that are computationally intensive and *** order to address this problem,this paper offers a new three-party authenticated key agreement technique based on fractional chaotic *** new scheme uses fractional chaotic maps and supports the dynamic sensing of HC-IoT devices in the network architecture without a password *** projected security scheme utilized a hash function,which works well for the resource-limited HC-IoT *** results show that our new technique is resistant to password guessing attacks since it does not use a ***,our approach provides users with comprehensive privacy protection,ensuring that a user forgery attack causes no ***,our new technique offers better security features than the techniques currently available in the literature.

This research presents a novel geothermal-based multigeneration framework engineered to supply electric energy, hydrogen gas, and chilled water. The framework incorporates an organic Rankine cycle (ORC) with an open feed heater (OFH), a Kalina cycle (KC), an absorption refrigeration cycle (ARC), and a PEM electrolyzer (PEME). A comprehensive thermodynamic and economic evaluation is performed, followed by a multi-objective optimization using NSGA-II in MATLAB to maximize exergetic performance and minimize cost. Key parameters include geothermal fluid temperature, mass flow rate, ORC turbine inlet temperature, and evaporator pinch point temperature difference (PPTD). The ORC exhibits the highest exergy destruction (42 %), trailed by the KC (26 %) and PEME (19 %), while the ARC contributes the least (13 %). Elevating geothermal fluid temperature significantly enhances exergy efficiency and hydrogen output, although costs increase. Enhancing the mass flow rate from 5 kg/s to 18 kg/s substantially improves power generation and cooling capacity but diminishes efficiency and escalates equipment expenses. Increasing the evaporator PPTD reduces power output and hydrogen production yet increases chilled water generation and slightly lowers the overall cost rate. Under optimal conditions, the plant achieves the exergetic performance of 38.56 % and a cost rate of 17.11 $/h, highlighting the potential of this integrated approach to deliver sustainable, cost-effective solutions for electricity generation, refrigeration, and hydrogen production from geothermal resources.
