Metamorphic testing is a testing method for problems without test oracles. Integration testing allows for detecting errors in complex systems that may not be found during the testing of their components. In this paper...

There are few explicit examples of two-player nonlocal games with a large gap between classical and quantum value. One of the reasons is that estimating the classical value is usually a hard computational task. This paper is devoted to analyzing classical values of the so-called linear games (generalization of XOR games to a larger number of outputs). We employ nontrivial results from graph theory and combine them with number theoretic results used earlier in the context of harmonic analysis to obtain a tool—the girth method—allowing to provide explicit examples of linear games with prescribed low classical value. In particular, we provide games with minimal possible classical value. We then speculate on the potential unbounded violation, by comparing the obtained classical values with a known upper bound for the quantum value. If this bound can be even asymptotically saturated, our games would have the best ratio of quantum to classical value as a function of the product of the number of inputs and outputs when compared with other explicit (i.e., nonrandom) constructions.

Parrondo's paradox refers to the apparently paradoxical effect whereby a certain combination of biased random walks displays a counterintuitive reversal of the bias direction. We show that Parrondo's paradox can occur not only in the case of one-dimensional discrete-time quantum walks with a deterministic sequence of two quantum coins but also in the case of one-dimensional discrete-time quantum walks with a deterministic sequence of three quantum coins. Moreover, we show how Parrondo's paradox affects the time evolution of quantum entanglement for such quantum walks.
We examine the temporal evolution of the modular entropy and capacity (in particular, the fluctuation of the entanglement entropy) for systems of time-dependent oscillators coupled by a (time-dependent) parameter. Suc...

We study a model of machine teaching where the teacher mapping is constructed from a size function on both concepts and examples. The main question in machine teaching is the minimum number of examples needed for any concept, the so-called teaching dimension. A recent paper (Ferri et al., 2024) conjectured that a worst case for this model, as a function of the size of the concept class, occurs when the consistency matrix contains the binary representations of numbers from zero and up. In this paper we prove their conjecture. The result can be seen as a generalization of a theorem resolving the edge isoperimetry problem for hypercubes (Hart, 1976). Our proof is based on a generalization of a lemma of (Graham, 1970).
We generalize the results obtained recently (Nonlinearity 36 (2023), 1143) by providing a very simple proof of the superintegrability of the Hamiltonian H = ~p 2 + F (~q · ~p), ~q, ~p ∈ R2, for any analytic func...
