The modeling and control problems of basic oxygen furnace (BOF) steelmaking process with non-linearity, large time-delay, uncertainty and complexity are discussed. Considering the problem of poor effect and precision of the BOF steelmaking control, a radial base function (RBF) neural network based on hybrid coding genetic algorithm (GA) is presented combining with characteristic of RBF neural network. The structure and parameter of neural network is optimized by the proposed method, which is used to control the BOF steel-making static model. The simulation results show that the new method can improve the on-line adjustment and self-learning capacity compared with the traditional methods. The GA-RBF neural network control is an effective method to improve the adaptability and practicability of BOF steelmaking control.

High-speed communication networks, such as B-ISDN and Internet, allow several types of network traffic to coexist in the same transmission medium and belong to the category of multi-service networks. Several new results on flow configuration, pricing and routing are presented in addition to overviews of relevant previous works. These derived by making use of the concepts Nash equilibrium, Pareto optimality and Stackelberg strategies borrowed from game theory. These are highlighted by means of illustrative examples. It is claimed the control-theoretic view on incentives in the theory of non-cooperative games provides for tools to solve various control and management problems in high-speed communication networks hence many QoS problems too.

The problem of channel choice is investigated from the point of view of the users' benefit function and a novel solution is proposed. When users possess a channel, the minimum-lending-priority channel is assigned from nominal channel in one's own cell firstly. If there is no vacancy, it is borrowed from the neighborhood cells. When users release channel, the minimum cost function channel is chosen. Nash equilibrium and Stackelberg strategy of the game theory are employed to lead the users to choose the maximal surplus value scheme. This decision and control scheme can not only enhance channel utilization and reduce the blocking rate, but also guarantee the satisfied surplus value. Simulation results are given to illustrate the proposed method.

In order to reduce the strong interference of aluminum electrolysis process, STD bus industry control machine which has strong anti-jamming ability is used as control host computer to improve control capability. Modularization and combination are applied in the hardware of the control system and the design principle of structure and the modularization are used in the software design. Advanced control idea and different control tactics are adopted in the system, based on the different working state of electrolysis trough to make sure that the electrolysis trough is at its best working state. The system software programs work with VC, and have several characters such as extension and good maintenance. The system has strong dependability and anti-jamming ability, convenient maintenance, good dynamic capability and running effect, and high precision of stabilization. An approach of reduced-order H ∞ controller for a class of linear continuous dynamic systems is presented based on Genetic Algorithm. Necessary and sufficient conditions are given, in terms of linear matrix inequality for the existence of controller. A rank condition is changed to object function of genetic algorithm(GA). The minimum order n k of the controller and a corresponding parameter pair ( X,Y ) of positive definite matrix are obtained by means of searching the object function. And then the reduced-order H ∞ controllers are constructed. In this paper, the code is float, the selection operator is rank-based fitness assignment and elitist model, the crossover operator is improved real cross, the mutation operator is real mutation. The simulation results show that the controller has the same control effect as all-order H ∞ controllers based on MATLAB.

A robust tracking control technique for nonlinear time-delay systems based on fuzzy T-S model is developed. Fuzzy T-S model with parametric uncertainties is employed to represent a nonlinear time-delay system of the plant to be controlled. The aim of the control design is to make the tracking error as small as possible for all bounded reference inputs and to guarantee H ∞ performance of the control system. The proposed tracking control design has the advantage that only a simple fuzzy controller is used within an approach without employing feedback linearization and a complicated adaptive scheme. By means of the proposed method, the fuzzy tracking control design problem is parameterized in terms of a linear matrix inequality problem. The linear matrix inequality problem is then solved efficiently by using a convex optimization technique. Simulation example is given to test the validity and efficiency of the proposed method.

A stable adaptive fuzzy control method is proposed for single input and single output nonlinear systems. This method needs not the assumption that the state variables need full observability. And the state variables are estimated by designing an observer. These unknown nonlinearities are approximated by the fuzzy systems. The key assumption is that the approximation errors satisfy certain bounding conditions. The Lyapunov synthesis approach is used to analyse the fuzzy system to obtain the corresponding parameters adaptive laws. The overall control system guarantees that the tracking error converges into a small neighborhood of zero and that all signals involved are uniformly bounded. Simulation results show the validity and efficiency of the proposed method.

Structural features of circulant matrices are utilized to study stabilities of circulant systems in this paper. They are that a necessary and sufficient condition for asymptotic stability of circulant systems is given; when systems contain uncertain circulant parameters, a robust stable region is determined. Besides, we present a switched circulant system model and a nonlinear circulant system model. For the former, we explore a necessary and sufficient condition for asymptotic stability under arbitrary switching laws with a common quadratic Lyapunov function constructed, and for the latter, we find out a sufficient condition for locally asymptotically stability at the origin. Finally, simulation examples illustrate the main results of this paper.
