Accurately predicting the response to neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NCT) is crucial for gastric cancer treatment planning. Multimodal diagnostic methods enhance prediction accuracy by integrating images and clinical features, but they often overlook intra-class differences, causing feature entanglement, and single models struggle to capture dataset diversity. To address these issues, we propose Clustering Multimodal Ensemble Learning (CMEL) framework, which aligns and fuses image features from different domains with clinical features and performs decision fusion using an ensemble model. Specifically, we design the clustering process using Siamese network and memory bank to partition images in feature space and introduce contrastive clustering loss to enhance clustering properties and reduce feature entanglement across domains. We design Hierarchical Feature Alignment Fusion (HFAF) module to generate multi-level image features at different depths and then separately align and fuse them with clinical features, providing diverse features to cover variations in the dataset. We design Dynamic Multi-Classifier Decision Fusion (DMDF) module to predict on fused features using a gating mechanism supervised by pseudo-labels for dynamic weights, enhancing prediction across different domains. On our collected the Gastric Cancer Chemotherapy Response (GCCR) dataset, CMEL achieves an AUC of 76.09%, accuracy of 72.00%, PPV of 86.02%. These results demonstrate the feasibility of joint image and clinical data in predicting NCT response and provide valuable insights for gastric cancer treatment. This paper presents a solution for counting fruit in agricultural greenhouses using Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV s). Initially, a heuristic based on Simulated Annealing was used to optimize the UAV's trajectory, ensuring efficient coverage of the beds. Next, digital image processing (DIP) techniques were implemented to count the fruit, including depth segmentation, application of bounding boxes, color filtering, and element counting. The DIP accuracy was evaluated in multiple scenarios and the results indicate high reliability in fruit counting, with the potential to optimize agricultural operations and provide valuable information to producers. Possible future improvements could include further refinements in image processing to increase the accuracy of counting other fruits. Ultimately, this work contributes to the advancement of automation in agriculture by offering a viable and efficient solution for counting fruit in greenhouses using UAV s.

Boosting Semi-Supervised Semantic Segmentation with Probabilistic Representations

Recent breakthroughs in semi-supervised semantic segmentation have been developed through contrastive learning. In prevalent pixel-wise contrastive learning solutions, the model maps pixels to deterministic representations and regularizes them in the latent space. However, there exist inaccurate pseudo-labels which map the ambiguous representations of pixels to the wrong classes due to the limited cognitive ability of the model. In this paper, we define pixel-wise representations from a new perspective of probability theory and propose a Probabilistic Representation Contrastive Learning (PRCL) framework that improves representation quality by taking its probability into consideration. Through modelling the mapping from pixels to representations as the probability via multivariate Gaussian distributions, we can tune the contribution of the ambiguous representations to tolerate the risk of inaccurate pseudo-labels. Furthermore, we define prototypes in the form of distributions, which indicates the confidence of a class, while the point prototype cannot. Moreover, we propose to regularize the distribution variance to enhance the reliability of representations. Taking advantage of these benefits, high-quality feature representations can be derived in the latent space, thereby the performance of semantic segmentation can be further improved. In dynamic multi-objective optimization problems (DMOPs), multiple conflicting objectives vary over time. Therefore, a core issue for the DMOPs is to respond the dynamic environments, when the environment change has been detected. To effectively address DMOPs, a novel method, called adaptive dynamic environment response based dynamic multi-objective evolutionary algorithm (ADER-DMOEA), is proposed in this paper. The proposed algorithm can adaptively respond the dynamic environment based on the detected environment change severity. First, a novel environment change severity detection mechanism is developed, where C-metric is introduced to measure the performance of different population obtained by different types of response strategies. Second, according to the measurement results, the algorithm adaptively adopts different strategies for environment response. Therefore, it can ensure that the proposed method has a good initial population for each new environment. The proposed method is compared with three algorithms, and the experiment results have demonstrated that ADER-DMOEA is competitive in dealing with dynamic environments.

At present, the natural communication between deaf and normal people is a major challenge both in theoretical research and application. In addition, in the field of Human-Machine Interaction, there is little work on bi-directional communication based on sign language and visual speech. In this paper, a portable bi-directional interactive system of sign language and visual speech was proposed to help deaf people communicate naturally under certain circumstances. In the section of modeling, Network in Network model was employed to classify sign language words, while the method using a network combined DenseNet and LSTM together was used for lip reading. By wearing the portable device, people can achieve bi-directional translation and communication of visual speech and sign language. We built our own Chinese sign language database containing more than 100 categories of words and conducted experiments in the context of the airport for experimental verification. Eventually, the average time of each round of conversation is within 15 seconds, faster than normal communication without system assistance, which verified the effectiveness and advantage of the purposed system. © 2019 IEEE.

In the selective laser melting preparation process, an accurate description of the temperature field is essential for improving the accuracy of finite element simulations of the forming process and mechanical property predictions, as well as for the reliable basis of process parameter control to ensure product quality. A novel finite element updating method based on image recognition of melt pool morphology is proposed for the Goldak double ellipsoid heat source model, which is known to have multiple unknown parameters that are difficult to determine. Finite element computational models of surface heat source, Gaussian body heat source, and Goldak double ellipsoid heat source are established, respectively, to describe the temperature field of selective laser melting. The reliability and applicability of the finite element prediction results are verified through experiments. Finally, the temperature field distributions, melt pool morphology, and dimensions of the model predictions are analyzed to further validate the reliability of the Goldak double ellipsoid heat source model obtained by inversion method. © 2024, The Authors. The joint deformation has great influence on machining accuracy for a robotic arm. In this paper, the deformation characteristics of the robotic arm with hybrid kinematic chains is investigated in order to improve its machining accuracy. Firstly, the deformation model of the joints has been established based on the Strain energy method and Castigliano theorem according to the robot structure. Secondly, the deformation influence coefficient (DIC) is defined to investigate the deformation influence of main components on the end-effector, and the deformation characteristics are evaluated by the simulation. Finally, a small size robotic arm prototype is established and robotic drilling comparative experiments are conducted. The theoretical and experiment results show that the machining method can be selected according to the DIC, which the force can be applied to the components with better stiffness. On the other hand, the deformation of driving components can also be reduced when the DIC cannot be adjusted to meet the accuracy requirement. © 2021, CC BY.

Microstructure and Elevated Temperature Ablation Mechanism of Novel Cu@Rgo/Cuw Composites Under Oxyacetylene Torch Flame

Copper-tungsten composites is one of potential throat lining application for the rudders and nozzles of rocket motors, hence it is significant to understand and explain the high-temperature ablation behavior and corresponding mechanism. Herein, we firstly fabricated xCu@rGO/CuW composites (x = 0, 1, 3 and 5wt%) using spark plasma sintering and then evaluated the ablation resistance of this composites under oxyacetylene torch flame environment. Tungsten carbide (WC and W2C) phases were formed through the in-situ reaction of rGO and W during the SPS, which are improved the ablation property. The surface after ablation can be clearly divided into two main regions: erosion region in the centra and transition region at the external. The ablation products are mainly consisted of WO3, CuWO4 and WC phase. The mass ablation rate and linear ablation rate of the 3wt% Cu@rGO/CuW composites was 0.015 g/s and 0.0023 mm/s, which are 0.25 and 0.3 times smaller than that of monolithic CuW alloy. The superior elevated temperature ablation resistance was attributed to transpiration cooling of Cu and WO3, heat consumptions of remained Cu@rGO with high thermal conductivity and in-situ formation of the high melting point of the tungsten carbide particles. The failure mechanism of Cu@rGO/CuW composites during ablation process is mainly caused by the thermo-chemical oxidation and thermo-mechanical erosion of the formed WO3, Cu2O and CuWO4 oxides. © 2023, The Authors. Machine learning algorithms and multivariate data analysis methods have been widely utilized in the field of Alzheimer's disease (AD) research in recent years. Predicting cognitive performance of subjects from neuroimage measures and identifying relevant imaging biomarkers are important research topics in the study of Alzheimer's disease. Multi-task based feature learning (MTFL) have been widely studied to select a discriminative feature subset from MRI features, and improve the performance by incorporating inherent correlations among multiple clinical cognitive measures. Inspired by the fact that humans often learn from easy concepts to hard ones in the cognitive process, we propose a self-paced multi-task feature learning framework that attempts to learn the tasks by simultaneously taking into consideration the complexities of both tasks and instances per task in this study. Experimental results on ADNI are provided, and the comparison results demonstrate the effectiveness of our approach and show that our approach outperforms the state-of-the-art methods. © 2020 ACM.
