METHODOLOGY OF EVALUATING FINISHED GOODS WAREHOUSE PERFORMANCE THROUGH LEAN METHODS

This paper considers the problem of evaluating the effectiveness of the finished goods warehouse of a manufacturing company, in which a modified TPM method - Total Productive Management (TPM2) - was applied to improve productivity. A multi-stage methodology was proposed, including a decision to modify the system, determination of the scope of changes, monitoring the results obtained and a multi-criteria evaluation of the changes made. The decision to make modifications to the existing system was motivated by the lower-than-expected quality of customer service (frequent delivery delays). With regard to the transport department, lean flow pillar activities were focused on analysing losses (muda) in warehouse processes (product loading and package unloading). The purpose of these activities was to minimise interruptions in warehouse processes (product loading and package unloading). "The steps for solving the problem" methodology based on Deming's PDCA cycle was used to solve the problem. The analysis covered, among other things, the information flow processes between production planning and the customer service department, the planning processes of the dispatcher, the efficiency of the loading processes, and the causes of interruptions in warehouse operations. The analyses employed the chronometry of selected works, the 5W + 1H method and the Pareto method. By using the 5S method and some characteristics of the SMED method, the organisation of loading work was decisively changed (shunting yard changes, appropriate buffers for transport equipment). The changes introduced in the system were monitored for several months. Appropriately defined OEE indicators were used to assess the behaviour of the system after the changes. The indicators consider the use of available warehouse time, the efficiency of the loading process and the quality of the tasks performed. Adaptive Optimal Discrete-Time Output-Feedback Using an Internal Model Principle and Adaptive Dynamic Programming

In order to address the output feedback issue for linear discrete-time systems, this work suggests a brand-new adaptive dynamic programming(ADP) technique based on the internal model principle(IMP). The proposed method, termed as IMP-ADP, does not require complete state feedback-merely the measurement of input and output data. More specifically, based on the IMP, the output control problem can first be converted into a stabilization problem. We then design an observer to reproduce the full state of the system by measuring the inputs and outputs. Moreover, this technique includes both a policy iteration algorithm and a value iteration algorithm to determine the optimal feedback gain without using a dynamic system model. It is important that with this concept one does not need to solve the regulator equation. Finally, this control method was tested on an inverter system of grid-connected LCLs to demonstrate that the proposed method provides the desired performance in terms of both tracking and disturbance rejection.

The employment of guided waves for structural health monitoring applications has attracted substantial attention in recent years. Piezoelectric transducers are frequently employed in these systems for elastic wave generation and acquisition. Their dynamic properties, i.e., direction-dependent frequency characteristics such as directivity patterns, are an important feature for designing a reliable monitoring strategy. Although analysis of the transducer directivity pattern can be performed using finite element models, these usually tend to be computationally very expensive, especially for parametric and optimization studies. In this paper, a semi-analytical framework is proposed that can predict the far-field directivity patterns of complex transducers of arbitrary shape and structure mounted on a substrate. The framework described in this paper integrates analytical far-field predictions with a local finite element model evaluating the traction field produced by the transducer. Consequently, the FE model accurately captures near-field responses, whereas the analytical component predicts the far-field responses. The implementation of this semi-analytical framework requires the development of analytical and numerical approaches. The former includes computation of dispersion curves of the inspected plate, the stress and displacement profiles of wave modes, and ultimately, the excitability relations, while the latter includes estimation of the traction field between the transducer and the plate using the FE model. Owing to the popularity of piezoelectric macro-fiber composite (MFC) transducers, in this paper, we apply the proposed method to predict the directivity patterns of MFC M2807-P2 transducer. To validate the reliability of the proposed method, the predicted patterns are compared with experimental results obtained using Laser Doppler Vibrometer. © 2024 11th European Workshop on Structural Health Monitoring, EWSHM 2024. By prioritizing these essential topics, students may acquire profound perspectives on the subject matter, resulting in a more thorough comprehension. This article introduces a bespoke software program that has been created with the explicit purpose of improving the learning process. The system presented in this article can also deal with Romanian, where this could be a great advantage and a novelty since there is no such advantage of similar systems (to the best of our knowledge). Educational data mining has been actively developed in recent years in connection with the massive usage of online learning and large amount of data accumulation on it. Scientists in the field of education widely apply different methods of data mining, in particular association rule mining. The method is based on identification of rules, having necessary 'strength', which is measured by the particular metrics: support, confidence, etc. Found rules become the core of different decision support systems in educational process. Despite extensive research in the field of association rule mining application, a question about finding possible relationship between students' errors, in particular in scientific papers, which are prepared by them during research work, has not been sufficiently studied. Also, the opportunity for the realization of decision support using this relationship has not been investigated. A new approach of decision-making support based on analysis of relationship between errors by means of association rule mining is proposed in the paper. The approach is implemented as a module in the automated work checking system. The approach and the module have been tested on data obtained during conducting research work by graduate students in Ufa University of science and technology. © 2023 IEEE.

This paper studies the flexographic die cutting process, at this moment there are no references about a methodology to help make the best use of dies to achieve maximum lengths of die cut material under optimum finished product quality conditions. This paper presents a part of the experimental research carried out with the aim of establishing generally valid rules for extending the durability of the die cut by varying two processing parameters, namely increasing the length of the die cut material and reducing the wear of the knives on the die cut. The finished product was die cut from a thin cardboard, from the point of view of material structure and thickness, used in all experiments described in this paper. The optimization of cutting regimes by die cutting with moulds is based on the relationship between the wear of the die and the maximum length of the die cut material, resulting from the variation of the parameters of the die cutting regime, i.e., the moment of the die clamping force and the die cutting speed. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024.

Reviewer assignment to papers is one of the most significant stages of the scientific publishing process. It determines whether high-quality scientific papers are accepted for publication, while low-quality papers are rejected or sent to be improved to the required level. This in turn affects the status of academic journals and the level of scientific papers in general. A large number of researchers deals with issues of improving and speeding up of the reviewer assignment procedure, frequently using intellectual methods. However, insufficient attention is given to comprehensive reviewer assessment in their assignment to papers. A method of reviewer assignment decision support in an academic journal based on a joint use of multicriteria assessment and text mining is proposed in the paper. Calculation of an integral indicator with the use of additive folding of weighted reviewer's indicators is at the core of the method. Text mining of manuscripts and reviewer's papers is utilized to determine value of one of significant indicators. The proposed method allows to assess reviewers not only by authority and expertise, but also allows to take into account their work in the role of a reviewer, deciding how good they are in this role, with the use of previously collected statistical information refers to the carried out reviewing. The method has been successfully tested on data of peer-reviewed academic journal "Modeling, Optimization and Information technology". © 2023 IEEE.

The design documentation agreement procedure is one of the production process stages. The procedure is usually rather long because it demands the participation of a large group of staff, conducting the complex documentation control execution. During the agreement process errors in design documentation are identified and a review with relevant remarks to finalize it is formed, typically in manual mode. This operation is repeated until all remarks are finally eliminated. In the latter case, the design documentation agreement procedure ends. In existing research attention has been paid to automation and information support in different stages of the agreement procedure. But the issue of automatization of approving person review formation has not been given enough attention. A method of automated review formation, when agreeing on the design documentation, using text mining of approving person remarks and an automated system, implementing this method, is proposed to solve the problem. Approbation of the automated system was carried out in the agreement of design documentation on the example of design models of printed circuit boards of electronic devices for CNC machines for plasma metal cutting. The results of approbation show that the usage of an automated system allows to reduce the time of review preparation by approving persons. This in turn allows to decrease the time of the design documentation agreement process execution and the time of the manufacturing process in general. © 2023 IEEE.

The Internet of Things (IoT) detects context through sensors capturing data from dynamic physical environments, in order to inform automation decisions within cyber physical systems (CPS). Diverse types of uncertainty in the IoT pipeline can propagate within and across nodes, involving complex interactions with security, privacy, and trust that remain largely unexplored. This paper conducts an in-depth analysis of the types of uncertainties in IoT and how they propagate within IoT nodes and networks. We consider adversarial uncertainty in the context of distributed IoT networks to capture perturbations due to malicious actors in the network that can influence IoT security, privacy and trust. We examine the propagation of adversarial uncertainty and well-known uncertainty types, namely aleatoric and epistemic uncertainty, within the five distinct stages of sensing, communication, storage, processing and decision-making in an IoT pipeline, across network layer boundaries, and across nodes within an IoT network. Using this mapping, we analyse the interactions between the uncertainty types and their propagation, and security, privacy, and trust in IoT. Based on this analysis, we discuss guidelines and considerations for mitigating uncertainty in IoT through a smart grid use case study. © The Author(s) 2024.

Works with free response are usually used in training, as well as in engineering education. These works assessment faces a lot of challenges, especially in conditions of online learning. The use of criteria system underlies the formation of a score for work with free response. In the case of works like essays the assessment can be made without the participation of expert-tutor by means of automated essay scoring systems. In the other cases his engagement is required, and the assessment takes place usually manually with the use of a rubric. This procedure is very long and labour-intensive for tutors, particularly with the large number of works, which are to be assessed as quickly as possible. The challenge is further amplified by iterativeness of assessment procedure which is typical, for example, to term papers, productive and pre-diploma practice reports actively used in engineering education when students are as close as possible to real tasks implementation. Another question arises, because work assessment is carried out without consideration for work correction characteristics, that is why a formed score is inaccurate. A student work with free response assessment model based on production model that takes into account the efficiency of work correction made by student, and whose application allows to ease the formation of a score for work with free response, is proposed in the paper. The assessment model is implemented in an intelligent decision support system, which was used in assessing pre-diploma practice reports in Ufa State Aviation Technical University during online learning. © 2023 IEEE.
