The paper presents the determination of the kinematic model equations for the 5R-type articulated industrial robot that can be applied in welding processes. The method used to perform this modeling is the iterative method and it takes the advantages of the previously determined equations of the geometric model. The operational kinematic parameters (linear and angular velocities and accelerations) are eventually determined. They represent the equations of the direct kinematic model.

This paper presents an efficient solution to fulfill the Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM) in indoor environment where there are monotonous areas and large loops. The proposed approach works on Split Sparse Points Maps (SSPM) and is mainly based on incremental scan registration by using the Point-to-Line Iterative Closest Point (PLICP) algorithm. To enhance the robustness of scan registration in monotonous environment, an Incident Angle Fused Metric (IAFM) is introduced during the association procedure of scan registration. Furthermore, with the manner of sub maps joining, a trajectory bending based loop closure approach is applied, which can efficiently eliminate the map inconsistence that is generated from error accumulation of scans registration. Experiment is conducted in real environment and the results obtained from different methods are compared and discussed, which verifies the validation of the proposed methods. © 2015 IEEE.

A novel micro tactile display device to display the elasticity of human soft tissues is presented in this paper. The device consists of 16 units in the form of a 4 × 4 units array. Each unit consists of two substrates separated by a 1.75 mm spacer. The first substrate holds a stiffness display pin (1 mm × 1 mm) which is supported by two Shape Memory Alloy (SMA) springs in parallel to provide tunable stiffness. A strain gauge on top of this substrate is used to measure the force applied on that pin. The other substrate includes a planar coil forming a non-contact eddy current sensor that is used to measure the deflection of the pin when subjected to an external force. Both the strain gauge and the eddy current sensors provide feedback signals that are used for characterization and control of the stiffness. Finite element simulation shows that the stiffness range of the designed device matches the range of elasticity of human soft tissues and the eddy current sensor detects up to 1.75 mm deflection which is suitable for characterization purposes. The simulation also studies the cross talk that possibly happen among the eddy current sensors due to the magnetic field. © 2015 IEEE.

The paper presents compression test results of self-made open-cell aluminium which was produced by the investment casting method. Two groups of samples were studied: prototype samples containing some structural imperfections (apparent density 0.485 g/cm3) and regular samples without visible mistakes (apparent density 0.312 g/cm3). Performed experimental research covered quasi-static compression tests with one hysteresis loop. Based on experimental results, new measures to help material characterisation were proposed: instant and average loop secant gradients ((Formula Found) and (Formula Found)) and average linear loop gradient (Formula Found). © 2016 Polish Academy of Sciences. This paper presents relevant aspects of the idea of using the digital medicine in cancer, so that to shape a viable strategy for creating and implementing an interactive digital platform, NEO-VIP, that should be the basic support to design the strategy for integration of basic, clinical and environmental research on neoplasia progression to cancer. The two main components of the VIPRO Platform are represented by the workstation 'engineering Station' for CPS (Cyber Physical System) and 'omics' technology and by the 'Graphical Station' for the development of a virtual mechatronic system environment and virtual reality for system components' motion. The NEO-VIP Platform will consolidate the collaboration of specialized institutions in IT, medicine, health, life standards so that to enhance their capabilities to work as a consortium. The results lead to the possibility developing NEO-VIP Platform in the IT modelling field, applied on bio-medical data, as a new player alongside with the existing ones. So, new improved methodologies for investigating social implications of machines working with and for people will be applied. © 2016 IEEE.

The influence of number and values of ratios in stepped gearbox on mileage fuel consumption in NEDC test and real traffic

The article presents the influence of number and values of ratios in stepped gearbox on mileage fuel consumption in a city passenger car. The simulations were conducted for a particular vehicle characterized by its mass, body shape, size of tires and equipped with a combustion engine for which the characteristic of fuel consumption in dynamic states was already designated on the basis of engine test bed measurements. Several designs of transmission with different number of gears and their ratios were used in virtual simulations of road traffic, particularly in the NEDC test, to calculate mileage fuel consumption. This allows for a quantitative assessment of transmission parameters in terms of both vehicle economy and dynamic properties. Also, based on obtained results, recommendations for the selection of a particular vehicle for a specific type of exploitation have been formulated.

Motivation Here, we make available a second version of the BioTIME database, which compiles records of abundance estimates for species in sample events of ecological assemblages through time. The updated version expands version 1.0 of the database by doubling the number of studies and includes substantial additional curation to the taxonomic accuracy of the records, as well as the metadata. Moreover, we now provide an R package (BioTIMEr) to facilitate use of the database. Main Types of Variables Included The database is composed of one main data table containing the abundance records and 11 metadata tables. The data are organised in a hierarchy of scales where 11,989,233 records are nested in 1,603,067 sample events, from 553,253 sampling locations, which are nested in 708 studies. A study is defined as a sampling methodology applied to an assemblage for a minimum of 2 years. Spatial Location and Grain Sampling locations in BioTIME are distributed across the planet, including marine, terrestrial and freshwater realms. Spatial grain size and extent vary across studies depending on sampling methodology. We recommend gridding of sampling locations into areas of consistent size. Time Period and Grain The earliest time series in BioTIME start in 1874, and the most recent records are from 2023. Temporal grain and duration vary across studies. We recommend doing sample-level rarefaction to ensure consistent sampling effort through time before calculating any diversity metric. Major Taxa and Level of Measurement The database includes any eukaryotic taxa, with a combined total of 56,400 taxa. Software Format csv and. SQL.

This paper presents the design and implementation of the control system for the transformation/manipulation system that is used in a new Hybrid Ground Aerial Robot(HGAR).The transformation mechanism is used to transform the robot from flying configuration to ground motion configuration and vice *** manipulator is attached to one of the four propeller arms to manipulate objects during ground *** controller is designed based on feedback linearization method.A simple algorithm is implemented on Arduino board for controlling the angle of the propeller arm with and without *** angle of the arm is controlled by propeller *** angle of the arm is measured by inertial measurement unit(IMU).The manipulator is controlled by *** configuration of the manipulator is determined using the joint-angles data and fed to the propeller arm controller to estimate the compensated *** addition,an integral term is added to the controller to introduce robustness against payload variation and parameters *** set up is built to apply the proposed controller on the system and test its ***,the experimental results showed the effectiveness and accuracy of the proposed controller.
