Two-dimensional vibration measurement is essential for monitoring structure and machine health, especially providing more information than those 1D solutions. However, most existing 2D vibration monitoring methods require multi-dimension sensors, which can be costly for large-scale deployment. In this paper, we propose m^2 Vib, the first work that can realize accurate 2D vibration measurement using a single mmWave radar. Our system is achieved by creating a virtual radar with non-line-of-sight (NLoS) signals from a nearby reflector (e.g., wall) to offer the 2nd-dimension vibration observations. We further establish a geometric model to unveil the relationship between 2D vibration displacement and mmWave signal. Such an idea still encounters challenges from significantly attenuated NLoS signals and low-resolution geometric parameters from the commercial mmWave radar. Thus, we design a new retroreflector to enhance NLoS signals and advanced signal processing methods to obtain fine-grained geometric parameters. Extensive experimental results show that we can achieve sub-mm level 2D vibration measurement with an average vibration displacement error of 62.2 um and frequency error of 0.01 Hz in the X-axis and Y-axis. © 2024 IEEE.

Multi-pedestrian tracking is one of the important application fields of computer vision, among which the real-time tracking of pedestrians and the ability to solve occlusion problems are two big challenges to improve the recognition accuracy. In this paper, we propose a new standardized tracking-by-detection framework that can effectively alleviate the above two problems. We first introduce the Criss-Cross Attention (CCA) mechanism in the detector. The CCA module can reduce the computational complexity of the detector and improve the detection accuracy. Then a pedestrian deep feature extractor fused with cosine metric learning for two-layer convolution is added to further improve the tracking accuracy and real-time performance. Finally, Kalman Filter prediction combined with pedestrian deep features effectively reduces identity switching under the occlusion. We conduct experiments on the MOT16 datasets and evaluate on HOTA. Experimental results demonstrate the competitiveness of our method against some selected state-of-the-art methods. © 2023 IEEE.

This paper presents a radar-based heart rate monitoring and Inter-beat interval (IBI) estimation. Traditional IBI estimation relies on peak detection combined with signal processing techniques. Our approach uses signal reconstruction with a neural network, which significantly improves the accuracy and robustness of IBI estimation compared to conventional methods. By utilizing multi-channel input data, our approach effectively mitigates various sources of noise and interference, resulting in highly accurate and reliable IBI predictions. Instead of relying solely on peak detection, we use the U-net architecture and cross-channel attention mechanism to reconstruct the triangular waveform generated from the ground truth ECG signals. The incorporation of multi-channel input and channel-wise attention mechanism improves our model’s ability to discriminate and emphasize critical features from different input channels, further improving IBI estimation accuracy. To evaluate the accuracy and robustness of our proposed method, we trained our model on the open-source dataset [1], and then performed leave-one-subject-out validation, which ensures our approach to be evaluated only on unseen independent subjects. We have achieved a Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) of 26.7 ms for the IBI of each heart-beat. Our results demonstrate the transformative potential of adopting signal reconstruction methods supported by state-of-the-art deep learning techniques. This shift in perspective promises more accurate and robust heart rate and IBI estimation, opening new avenues for improving the accuracy and reliability of cardiac monitoring systems. © 2024 IEEE.

The utilization of multi-agent systems has been increasingly prevalent across various sectors, owing to their notable efficacy in execution. However, a multitude of hazards exist that possess the capability to undermine the integrity of the agent and pose a threat to the overall security of the system. Therefore, it is crucial to carefully evaluate and address security vulnerabilities during the process of creating Multi-Agent systems (MAS). This survey assesses different models that aim to guarantee the security of Multi-Agent systems (MAS). These models were developed based on principles related to the agents' functionality and communication. This study offers a comprehensive examination and categorization of the prevailing threats targeting Multi-Agent systems (MASs). Following this, we conduct a comprehensive analysis and assessment of diverse security strategies described in scholarly sources, classifying them into prevention, detection, and resiliency approaches based on their established credibility and reliability. In conclusion, we offer a suggestion for the optimal security approach to address particular types of threats, considering the most recent breakthroughs in the field of study. © 2023 IEEE.

Wireless sensor networks play a crucial role in Internet of Things systems, whose development and prevalence have given rise to numerous challenges. One of the most notable problems regarding wireless sensor networks is the sensor deployment problem, where the objective is to minimize the number of nodes used and to satisfy the constraints of coverage and connectivity. In reality, sensors may be prone to errors and failures;therefore, simple coverage and simple connectivity cannot guarantee fault tolerance for a system. This leads to the concepts of Q-coverage and Q-connectivity, which indicates that each target needs q covering sensors and q node-disjoint paths to the base station. To minimize the number of nodes while still ensuring Q-coverage and Q-connectivity, we propose a heuristic algorithm and an algorithm based on the genetic algorithm. Besides, we construct various experiment scenarios and a realistic dataset to evaluate the efficiency of our proposed methods. The experiment results show that our proposed algorithms significantly outperform existing methods in both solution quality and running time. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag London Ltd., part of Springer Nature 2025.

The context of recognizing handwritten city names,this research addresses the challenges posed by the manual inscription of Bangladeshi city names in the Bangla *** today’s technology-driven era,where precise tools for reading handwritten text are essential,this study focuses on leveraging deep learning to understand the intricacies of Bangla *** existing dearth of dedicated datasets has impeded the progress of Bangla handwritten city name recognition systems,particularly in critical areas such as postal automation and document ***,no prior research has specifically targeted the unique needs of Bangla handwritten city name *** bridge this gap,the study collects real-world images from diverse sources to construct a comprehensive dataset for Bangla Hand Written City name *** emphasis on practical data for system training enhances *** research further conducts a comparative analysis,pitting state-of-the-art(SOTA)deep learning models,including EfficientNetB0,VGG16,ResNet50,DenseNet201,InceptionV3,and Xception,against a custom Convolutional Neural Networks(CNN)model named“Our CNN.”The results showcase the superior performance of“Our CNN,”with a test accuracy of 99.97% and an outstanding F1 score of 99.95%.These metrics underscore its potential for automating city name recognition,particularly in postal *** study concludes by highlighting the significance of meticulous dataset curation and the promising outlook for custom CNN *** encourages future research avenues,including dataset expansion,algorithm refinement,exploration of recurrent neural networks and attention mechanisms,real-world deployment of models,and extension to other regional languages and *** recommendations offer exciting possibilities for advancing the field of handwritten recognition technology and hold practical implications for enhancing global postal services.

The agricultural area has undergone a significant transformation owing to the progress made in IoT. It is imperative to have a dependable remote monitoring solution right now. This study aims to accomplish two goals. First, a solution based on an app is offered, which effectively assists in remotely administering the field by displaying the current sensor values. In an Internet of Things based prototype surveillance system, a multi-class categorization method utilizing machine learning and deep learning is incorporated to classify labels such as clear farm, cow, horse, wild boar, and wild elephant. The analysis involved Support Vector Machines and Convolutional Neural Networks, with the accuracy measure being employed to determine the optimal model. The advancements in the Internet of Things (IoT) have significantly transformed the daily lives of individuals. A comprehensive understanding of soil properties gives a variety of soil-related information that can be used to improve crop yields. Machine learning is a cutting-edge technology that aids with agricultural precision and provides answers to crop yield issues. Significant informative advances and Machine Learning (ML) open up new opportunities for deciphering, quantifying, and comprehending data-intensive prediction in agricultural settings. Medical imaging has experienced significant development in contemporary medicine and can now record a variety of biomedical pictures from patients to test and analyze the illness and its severity. computer vision and artificial intelligence may outperform human diagnostic ability and uncover hidden information in biomedical images. In healthcare applications, fast prediction and reliability are of the utmost importance parameters to assure the timely detection of disease. The existing systems have poor classification accuracy, and higher computation time and the system complexity is higher. Low-quality images might impact the processing method, leading to subpar results. Furthermore, extensive preprocessing techniques are necessary for achieving accurate outcomes. Image contrast is one of the most essential visual parameters. Insufficient contrast may present many challenges for computer vision techniques. Traditional contrast adjustment techniques may not be adequate for many applications. Occasionally, these technologies create photos that lack crucial information. The primary contribution of this work is designing a Big Data Architecture (BDA) to improve the dependability of medical systems by producing real-time warnings and making precise forecasts about patient health conditions. A BDA-based Bio-Medical Image Classification (BDA-BMIC) system is designed to detect the illness of patients using Metaheuristic Optimization (Genetic Algorithm) and Gradient Approximation to improve the biomedical image classification process. Extensive tests are conducted on publicly accessible datasets to demonstrate that the suggested retrieval and categorization methods are superior to the current methods. The suggested BDA-BMIC system has average detection accuracy of 94.6% and a sensitivity of 97.3% in the simulation analysis. © The Author(s) 2023.

This research addresses the critical problem of video tampering detection, focusing on frame deletions, insertions, and duplications. An unconventional approach is proposed, utilizing Farneback optical flow to detect inconsistencies in motion patterns indicative of tampering. To enhance the accuracy of optical flow computation, Contrast-Limited Adaptive Histogram Equalization (CLAHE) is applied to manage artifacts resulting from compression, lighting changes, and occlusions. Additionally, temporal filtering techniques are employed to reduce noise sensitivity. Our methodology includes evaluating motion consistency across frames, extracting texture features from the flow field, and applying thresholding techniques to identify abnormal motion characteristics. Temporal consistency checks are performed to ensure the persistence of detected forged regions over multiple frames. Experimental results on publicly available datasets demonstrate the effectiveness of our approach, achieving a TPR of 93.15% and a FAR of 6.65%, highlighting its high accuracy and robustness in identifying video tampering. © 2024 IEEE.

Climate change is considered a global disaster that has wreaked havoc worldwide. Climate change conditions are primarily driven due to emission of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases. Around the globe, several countries are facing serious challenges related to global warming and climate change. The adverse effects of global warming and climate change are recently observed in the form heat waves, floods, extreme rainfall events and drought conditions. The escalating CO2 emission level causes threats of food security and water scarcity. To overcome this, timely and accurate CO2 emissions forecasting is essential for developing effective mitigation strategies in such a manner that CO2 emission impacts can be reduced. The aim of this study is to forecast the total CO2 emissions of upcoming years using various statistical, machine learning models such as ARIMA (Auto-Regressive Integrated Moving Average), SARIMA (Seasonal ARIMA), Linear Regression, and Decision tree regressor. We had forecasted CO2 emission on the basis of influencing factors, which highly contributes in CO2 emission. The performance of the models is validated using multiple evaluation metrics such as MAE, MSE RMSE,MAPE and R2 square. The results show that CO2 emission is highly affected by fossil fuel consumption. In particular, Linear regression performs better among all applied models, with R2 value 0.93 and MAE, RMSE and MAPE values 5.52, 6.47 and 0.03, respectively. Our research delineates the results and insights that will assist concerned authorities, policymakers and environmental agencies. The present study also aim to inform authorities, helping them to better understand the future of CO2 emission trajectories and make timely efforts and interventions to tackle the climate change and global warming challenges. © 2024 IEEE.
