Recent improvements in Convolution Neural Networks (CNN) have demonstrated extraordinary performance in solving real-world problems. However, the performance of CNN depends purely on its architectural parameters and their arrangements. Designing CNN architecture for a particular problem is time consuming and requires a deep understanding of Neural networks, which is not possible for each researcher. In this research, an automated CNN architecture based on the Particle Swarm Optimization algorithm empowered with an iterative mutation operator and Opposition-based Learning strategy is proposed for image classification problems. The proposed technique significantly enhances performance in terms of accuracy, precision-recall, and convergence rate. The effectiveness of the proposed method is evaluated on benchmark datasets, including CIFAR-10, MNIST-Fashion, and Paddy Doctor Dataset. It demonstrates superior performance compared to traditional models which are Alex-Net, VGG19, GA-CNN, and PSO-CNN. © 2024 IEEE.

Deep Learning (DL) techniques have significantly improved the diagnostic accuracy in healthcare, particularly for detecting and classifying skin cancer. These advancements are expected to assist healthcare professionals in delivering more accurate, efficient, and timely diagnosis, ultimately improving patient outcomes and facilitating early detection and treatment of skin cancer. Additionally, medical imaging technologies, such as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and computed tomography (CT) scans remain critical tools for diagnosing dermatological conditions. However, interpreting these images can be challenging because of the overlapping structures and varying image quality. This study explored the application of DL in skin cancer diagnosis, with a particular focus on advances in image segmentation and classification. It reviews the development of DL-based models, including Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs), and evaluates their effectiveness in skin lesion detection. This study examined the critical challenges associated with deploying DL models in clinical practice, including dataset diversity, model interpretability, and the feasibility of real-world implementation. It explores essential factors such as the selection of network architectures and data preprocessing techniques, emphasizing their influence on model performance. Additionally, this study identifies research gaps and suggests future directions for optimizing DL models for dermatological applications. © 2013 IEEE.

The alignment operation between many protein sequences or DNAsequences related to the scientific bioinformatics application is very *** is a trade-off in the objectives in the existing techniques of MultipleSequence Alignment (MSA). The techniques that concern with speed ignoreaccuracy, whereas techniques that concern with accuracy ignore speed. Theterm alignment means to get the similarity in different sequences with highaccuracy. The more growing number of sequences leads to a very complexand complicated problem. Because of the emergence;rapid development;anddependence on gene sequencing, sequence alignment has become importantin every biological relationship analysis process. Calculating the numberof similar amino acids is the primary method for proving that there is arelationship between two sequences. The time is a main issue in any alignmenttechnique. In this paper, a more effective MSA method for handling themassive multiple protein sequences alignment maintaining the highest accuracy with less time consumption is proposed. The proposed method dependson Artificial Fish Swarm (AFS) algorithm that can break down the mostchallenges of MSA problems. The AFS is exploited to obtain high accuracyin adequate time. ASF has been increasing popularly in various applicationssuch as artificial intelligence, computer vision, machine learning, and dataintensive application. It basically mimics the behavior of fish trying to getthe food in nature. The proposed mechanisms of AFS that is like preying,swarming, following, moving, and leaping help in increasing the accuracy andconcerning the speed by decreasing execution time. Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) have been widely used in dynamic environments where node failure, node mobility, or external events can cause frequent changes to the network architecture. As a result, WSNs cannot use conventional routing techniques created for wired networks. Rather, flexible routing algorithms are required, which can be adjusted according to the network circumstances and maximize a variety of parameters such as latency, productivity, power, and dependability. The objective of adaptation technique is to enhance the performance and efficiency of WSNs by adjusting them to changing conditions. Despite several studies on enhancing the quality of service (QoS) in WSNs, satisfying one of the QoS metrics has often a detrimental impact on the other metrics. The adaptation model combines artificial intelligence and cross-layer techniques for balancing energy consumption. This balancing aims to prevent gaps in the routing path that could impede data delivery or, at most, cause additional delay due to the consideration of alternative paths. It also aims to ensure that the other QoS metrics are stratified as much as possible. This is achieved by dynamically adjusting network routing protocol parameters using a fuzzy controller according to the instantaneous network conditions. The model is evaluated by simulating real multimedia data (real images) using the Omnet++ simulator. The simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the adaptation model in balancing QoS requirements, particularly in terms of network lifetime and the quality of the received data as represented by the peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR), as well as network delay and data loss rate. © 2024 IEEE.

Railway Track Fault Detection Using Mel Frequency Cepstral Coefficient from Acoustic Data using Chi Square

Spatial, temporal, and weather elements like ballast, loose nuts, misalignment, and cracks due to rain, snow, and earthquakes may lead to railway accidents and cause human and financial loss. Manual inspection is erroneous, labor-intensive, and *** automatic inspection provides a fast, reliable, and unbiased solution in this regard, however, ensuring high accuracy for fault detection is challenging due to the lack of public datasets, noisy data, high computer processing requirements, and inefficient models. This study presents an approach that uses Mel frequency cepstral coefficient features from the acoustic data. The dataset gathered using a customized railway cart from our previous research is used for experiments. The focus of the study is to increase the fault detection performance using selective features from the acoustic data. This study employs Chisquare(Chi2) for the selection of important features and involves performance analysis of machine learning and deep learning models using selected features. Experimental results suggest that using 60 features, 40 original features, and 20 Chi2 features, produces optimal results both regarding accuracy and computational complexity. A 100%accuracy can be obtained using the proposed approach with machine learning models. Moreover, this performance is significantly better than existing approaches.

The rise of technology in the digital era has amplified the importance of understanding human emotions in enhancing human–computer interactions. Traditional interfaces, mainly focused on logical tasks, often miss the nuances of human emotion, creating a gap between human users and technology. Addressing this gap, the development of the Human–computer Interface for emotional intelligence uses advanced algorithms and deep learning models to accurately recognize emotions from various cues like facial expressions, voice, and written text. This paper presented a significant approach for emotion detection in HCI and the challenges faced in capturing genuine emotional responses. Historically, the emphasis in HCI design was on operational tasks, neglecting emotional nuances. However, the tide is changing toward embedding emotional intelligence into these interfaces, leading to enhanced user experiences. This research introduces the MFF-CNN, a neural network model combining both textual and visual data for accurate emotion detection. Through sophisticated algorithms and the integration of advanced machine learning techniques, this paper presents a refined approach to emotion detection in HCI, supported by a comprehensive review of related works and a detailed methodology. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.

A region's Wireless sensor networks consist of sensors distributed over a region that collect and send environmental data to a central station. It measures humidity and temperature. The formation is based on many key ideas, including the routing system that optimizes data flow to the base station. Routing introduces limits and obstacles to better results. One challenge is choosing the cluster head, who aggregates data from nearby sensors and sends it to the base station. Many methods are used to choose the cluster head. Instead of GSTEB, DCBRP, and ETSRP, which are laborious and time-consuming, modern cluster head identification methods use artificial intelligence. This study selects the cluster head quickly and accurately using PSO-CHS (particle swarm optimization-Cluster Head Selection Routing Protocol). It improves execution time by 84.1%, delay matrix by 44.3%, and energy matrix by 80.4% over previous protocols. PSO-CHS design promotes energy efficiency, network durability, and packet loss reduction. © 2024 IEEE.

The reliability of Component-Based Software systems (CBSS) is a critical factor in the success and longevity of software applications across various domains. This comprehensive review synthesizes methodologies and findings from thirteen key studies, offering a panoramic view of the landscape of CBSS reliability assessment. We explore a spectrum of approaches, from traditional statistical models to advanced computational intelligence techniques, evaluating their effectiveness, challenges, and contexts of applicability. Our review reveals a trend towards the integration of machine learning and fuzzy logic in reliability estimation, reflecting the complexity and dynamic nature of CBSS. Moreover, we identify a significant emphasis on predictive models that cater to early detection of reliability issues, underscoring the proactive aspect of modern software reliability engineering. The findings suggest a need for more adaptable and context-sensitive methods that can accommodate the evolving nature of software components and their interactions. This review not only charts the current state of CBSS reliability assessment but also highlights future directions for research, including the integration of real-time data and the development of more robust models for uncertainty management. Our study serves as a crucial resource for researchers and practitioners seeking to enhance the reliability of CBSS, ultimately contributing to the development of more dependable software systems. © 2024 IEEE.

With the vigorous development of cloud computing, most organizations have shifted their data and applications to the cloud environment for storage, computation, and sharing purposes. During storage and data sharing across the participating entities, a malicious agent may gain access to outsourced data from the cloud environment. A malicious agent is an entity that deliberately breaches the data. This information accessed might be misused or revealed to unauthorized parties. Therefore, data protection and prediction of malicious agents have become a demanding task that needs to be addressed appropriately. To deal with this crucial and challenging issue, this paper presents a Malicious Agent Identification-based Data Security (MAIDS) Model which utilizes XGBoost machine learning classification algorithm for securing data allocation and communication among different participating entities in the cloud system. The proposed model explores and computes intended multiple security parameters associated with online data communication or transactions. Correspondingly, a security-focused knowledge database is produced for developing the XGBoost Classifier-based Malicious Agent Prediction (XC-MAP) unit. Unlike the existing approaches, which only identify malicious agents after data leaks, MAIDS proactively identifies malicious agents by examining their eligibility for respective data access. In this way, the model provides a comprehensive solution to safeguard crucial data from both intentional and non-intentional breaches, by granting data to authorized agents only by evaluating the agent’s behavior and predicting the malicious agent before granting data. The performance of the proposed model is thoroughly evaluated by accomplishing extensive experiments, and the results signify that the MAIDS model predicts the malicious agents with high accuracy, precision, recall, and F1-scores up to 95.55%, 95.30%, 95.50%, and 95.20%, respectively.
