This study developed and implemented a machine learning-driven HR system designed to enhance recruitment outcomes, particularly in online interviews. Challenges such as candidate impersonation, interview question memorization, and deepfake manipulations were addressed. The system incorporated several critical processes utilizing advanced algorithms: pre-interview shortlisting employed Support Vector Machines (SVM) achieving 92% accuracy;cognitive skills assessment utilized adaptive testing methods powered by fine-tuned Large Language Models (LLMs) with 88% accuracy;emotional intelligence evaluation was conducted using deep learning-based emotion detection algorithms attaining 85% accuracy;face verification leveraged Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) for identity and deepfake detection with 90% accuracy;online video interviews were analyzed through integrated audio-visual processing techniques;language proficiency testing employed Natural Language Processing (NLP) models reaching 87% accuracy;analysis of thinking patterns was performed using sentiment analysis algorithms with 83% accuracy;and candidate grading was facilitated by ensemble learning methods ensuring consistent and reliable evaluations. The results demonstrated the system’s effectiveness in verifying candidate authenticity and assessing competence, providing a robust solution for modern recruitment challenges. © 2024 IEEE.

Intelligent environments rely heavily on the Internet of Things, which can be targeted by malicious attacks. Therefore, the autonomous capabilities of agents in intelligent health-care environments, and the agents' characteristics (accuracy, reliability, efficiency and responsiveness), should be exploited to devise an autonomous intelligent agent that can safeguard the entire environment from malicious attacks. Hence, this paper contributes to achieving this aim by selecting the eight most valuable features out of 50 features from the adopted dataset using the Chi-squared test. Then, three well-known machine learning classifiers (i.e. naive Bayes, random forest and logistic regression) are compared in classifying malicious attacks from non-attacks in an intelligent health-care environment. The highest achieved classification accuracy was for the random forest classifier (99.92%). © 2023 IEEE.

This study employed a l0-fold cross-validation approach to train and validate neural networks to predict the RSSI (received signal strength indicator) in LoRaWAN communication. The model's performance was accurately estimated by averaging results across multiple validation sets and training sequences, and biased outcomes were mitigated. Implementing data normalization techniques, a simple neural network architecture, regularization approaches, and iteration limits ensured robustness within the limitations of a small dataset. The assessment of three neural network models using different optimization algorithms demonstrated their potential for accurate RSSI predictions, particularly for low-power IoT devices like LoRaWAN end devices, where energy efficiency is crucial. Lightweight neural networks on such devices enable efficient data processing while conserving energy, extending their lifespan, and reducing maintenance needs. Experimentation with deeper structures and unconventional activation functions may be necessary for complex problems, further enhancing performance in specific domains like RSSI assessment for LoRaWAN end devices. © 2023 IEEE.

Context: In the public health domain, there is no shortage of failed information systems projects. In addition to overblown budgets and elapsed deadlines (ad nauseam), technical issues exist. These include poor usability, instability, system performance, and data inconsistency issues. The issues relate to Software Engineering, and specifically Software Architecture. The role of Software Architecture underpins these issues. However, the enquiries and analyses of these failed information systems projects have focused on the perspective of stakeholders (e.g., government ministers and health practitioners) and project managers. While stakeholders provide input into project requirements and goals, the project failure or success does not emanate from these roles exclusively. For example, system instability is not specifically a stakeholder issue but rather a Software Architecture concern. Aim: To bring to bear and address public sector health information system failure from the Software Architecture perspective. Method: A literature survey was conducted to ascertain the perceived failure and success factors within the public health domain. Results: We observed that the available literature on health information systems appears to lack success factors which have been noted in the Software Engineering and Software Architecture literature. Software Architecture appears to be an understudied area within the public health domain. Contribution: To bring awareness to the public health domain that the information system's success requires multi-faceted perspectives and actions. Specifically, perspectives and actions involving Software Architects and Software Engineers are required to successfully address the quality attributes of the proposed systems during development. Hybrid classification of XGBoost-based ADAM optimization for coronary artery disease diagnosis

A common cardiovascular illness with high fatality rates is coronary artery disease (CAD). Researchers have been exploring alternative methods to diagnose and assess the severity of CAD that are less invasive, cost-effective, and utilize noninvasive clinical data. Machine learning algorithms have shown promising and potential results. Accordingly, this study focuses on assisting medical practitioners with CAD detection by using a hybrid classification system combining XGBoost and Adam optimization. The primary approach incorporates One-Hot encoding to transform categorical attributes within the dataset, enhancing the precision of predictions. The secondary approach constitutes a hybrid classification model integrating XGBoost and employing Adam optimizations for CAD detections. The efficacy of the recommended method is assessed using the cleveland, Hungarian, and Statlog heart-disease data sets. The proposed system and the standard Grid and Random Search classifiers are compared. The experimental outcomes indicate that the suggested model achieves a notable prediction accuracy of 94.19%. This represents an improvement of 7 to 8% over the existing grid search algorithm and 2 to 3% improvement over the random search algorithm for the above all datasets. Hence, the proposed system can be a valuable tool for identifying CAD patients, offering enhanced prediction accuracy. © 2024 – IOS Press.

Feature selection is one of the most important and significant steps that highly affects the final accuracy of any classification model. It aims to determine the most significant features that help in accurately predicting the class label for any new case. This research aims to survey and identify the best feature selection method that suits algorithms belong to Associative Classification (AC). Hence, nine different feature selection methods have been evaluated and compared using five AC based algorithms with respect to Accuracy metric. Results revealed that ABB-IEP and ABB-LIU methods show the best performance with datasets that contain nominal features only, while Relief feature selection method showed the best Accuracy with datasets that comprise Real and Integer features. © 2023 IEEE.

Water scarcity is a significant global challenge, worsened by global warming and population growth, straining water resources. Agriculture, a major water user, often employs inefficient irrigation methods, leading to excessive water consumption. A smart irrigation system using IoT technology and Reverse Osmosis (RO) wastewater from water purifiers can help conserve water. This paper presents a smart solution leveraging the Internet of Things (IoT) technology to recycle RO wastewater for agricultural use, conserving potable water resources. The system is powered by the ESP32 microcontroller and DHT22 sensors for getting vital data such as soil moisture level, tank level, temperature, and humidity from the environment, to determine the proper irrigation timing for plants. We also use the Blynk cloud platform, enabling farmers to monitor their farms in real-time. The proposed system not only ensures appropriate irrigation timing but also promotes efficient RO wastewater usage, contributing to water conservation. © 2024 IEEE.

Vehicle cloud computing (VCC) is a recent area of study that blends vehicular networks with cloud computing, offering networking and sensor capabilities to vehicles for interaction with other vehicles and roadside infrastructure. Integrating unidentified vehicles and infrastructure through a public network has raised concerns about security and privacy in VCC. Several researchers have proposed secure authentication mechanisms to address these issues and ensure secure data transmission in VCC. However, exchanging vehicle data in a vehicular cloud (VC) system presents specific challenges, including maintaining data privacy and implementing lightweight authentication procedures. Therefore, this study proposes an efficient authentication and secure data transfer mechanism for VC systems. The proposed approach utilizes Dual Hashing-based Secure Hashing Algorithm-384 (DHS384) and Modified Elliptical Curve Cryptography (MECC). An optimal resource allocation (RA) scheme is introduced to allocate VC resources optimally to a suitable virtual machine using the Improved Harris Hawks Optimization (IHHO) algorithm.
