Cookies are considered a fundamental means of web application services for authenticating various Hypertext Transfer Protocol(HTTP)requests andmaintains the states of clients’information over the *** cookies are exploited to carry client patterns observed by a *** client patterns facilitate the particular client’s future visit to the corresponding ***,security and privacy are the primary concerns owing to the value of information over public channels and the storage of client information on the *** protocols have been introduced that maintain HTTP cookies,but many of those fail to achieve the required security,or require a lot of resource *** this article,we have introduced a lightweight Elliptic Curve Cryptographic(ECC)based protocol for authenticating client and server transactions to maintain the privacy and security of HTTP *** proposed protocol uses a secret key embedded within a *** proposed protocol ismore efficient and lightweight than related protocols because of its reduced computation,storage,and communication ***,the analysis presented in this paper confirms that proposed protocol resists various known attacks.

Efficient energy management is a cornerstone of advancing cognitive cities,where AI,IoT,and cloud computing seamlessly integrate to meet escalating global energy *** this context,the ability to forecast electricity consumption with precision is vital,particularly in residential settings where usage patterns are highly variable and *** study presents an innovative approach to energy consumption forecasting using a bidirectional Long Short-Term Memory(LSTM)*** a dataset containing over twomillionmultivariate,time-series observations collected froma single household over nearly four years,ourmodel addresses the limitations of traditional time-series forecasting methods,which often struggle with temporal dependencies and non-linear *** bidirectional LSTM architecture processes data in both forward and backward directions,capturing past and future contexts at each time step,whereas existing unidirectional LSTMs consider only a single temporal *** design,combined with dropout regularization,leads to a 20.6%reduction in RMSE and an 18.8%improvement in MAE over conventional unidirectional LSTMs,demonstrating a substantial enhancement in prediction accuracy and *** to existing models—including SVM,Random Forest,MLP,ANN,and CNN—the proposed model achieves the lowest MAE of 0.0831 and RMSE of 0.2213 during testing,significantly outperforming these *** results highlight the model’s superior ability to navigate the complexities of energy usage patterns,reinforcing its potential application in AI-driven IoT and cloud-enabled energy management systems for cognitive *** integrating advanced machine learning techniqueswith IoT and cloud infrastructure,this research contributes to the development of intelligent,sustainable urban environments.

Online shopping offers consumers a way to go shopping and purchase services and goods at reasonable prices through the Internet;however, product selection in terms of quality, price, and incredible trust is an issue. Various sources of feedback may exist for the same product, which can critically affect perceptions about it. It may eventually lead to a person buying or simply ignoring the product. It is necessary to ensure that these comments are not both fraudulent and legitimate. In this context, blockchain has now come to light as a promising technology that offers customers a reliable and unchangeable feedback mechanism. This work proposes a blockchain-based feedback system using non-fungible tokens (BFSN) as a framework to evaluate items through feedback. In addition, this paper also uses the interplanetary file system to store the metadata of e-commerce products to avoid storing large amounts of data on the blockchain. The empirical results prove that the proposed framework completes the order of milliseconds. The buyer and seller’s individual transaction details stay private and immutable with this proposed method, and zero-knowledge authentication is used for any transactions. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024.

Application of a three-phase unified power quality conditioner in a microgrid

In power distribution systems, common issues such as voltage fluctuations, voltage instability, current harmonics, and power imbalances often arise, negatively impacting the stability and power quality (PQ) of the power system. As an advanced power electronics device, the unified power quality conditioner (UPQC) can effectively address these problems. Therefore, the integration of UPQC into power distribution lines can enhance the stability and reliability of the power system, providing higher-quality power supply to meet the needs of both users and suppliers for PQ. The authors utilise the TI TMS320F28377D chip as the control core to construct a simple yet highly efficient UPQC system. Through simulation, the correctness of the voltage and current compensation algorithms has been verified, and the overall system feasibility has been validated using a 100-kVA series-shunt inverter. The experimental results show that the voltage compensation range of the UPQC is 380V ± 10%. During sudden current drops, the imbalance rate can be reduced from 85.5% to 1.32% after controlled compensation. During sudden current rises, the imbalance rate can be reduced from 13.1% to 1.56% after controlled compensation. These findings demonstrate the effectiveness of the UPQC system in improving PQ and system stability in power distribution networks. © 2024 The Author(s). The purpose of this study is to analyze methane (CH4) emissions in rice fields areas in Suphan Buri Province, Thailand. By using time series data between 2019 - 2023 and geospatial technology. Suphan Buri Province is an important province in agriculture. Most of the population, more than 80 percent, are employed as farmers, especially rice cultivation. With the area located on the Tha Chin River lowland and a good irrigation system, this makes it possible to grow rice all year round. The use of technology and support from government and private agencies has increased production efficiency, making Suphan Buri a high-quality and important rice producer in the country. This research can study the relationship between water management and methane (CH4) emissions. In this research process, high-resolution satellite data is used. Using Sentinel-5P to analyze methane (CH4) emissions and using Senyinel-2 to classify each type of rice field areas with the Random Forest (RF) Algorithm. Moreover, using the Google Earth Engine (GEE) platform to analyze data. According to the results, methane (CH4) emissions values can be divided into 4 levels, with the highest methane (CH4) emissions being between 1960 - 1980 parts per billion (ppb, 10−9), and the lowest being between 1900 - 1920 parts per billion (ppb, 10−9). This corresponds to the period for water allocation for rice cultivation. Applying satellite data and geospatial technology for effective monitoring and analysis of methane (CH4) emissions. This can be used in the formulation of policies and strategies towards climate change management in Thailand. Furthermore, this can be applied to water and rice fields management planning to mitigate environmental impact and promote sustainable agriculture. © 2024 45th Asian Conference on Remote Sensing, ACRS 2024. Automatic screening for tuberculosis (TB) from X-ray images using artificial intelligence techniques has attracted the attention of researchers in the fields of computing and medicine. However, existing models are computationally intensive and require high computer hardware, which limits the use of people in areas where medical resources are scarce. Another problem with the existing model is poor interpretability. The model only provides the final result and lacks intuitive information about the location of the lesion. To solve these problems, this paper proposes a Grad-CAM-based knowledge distillation method for the detection of TB. Firstly, this study used Unet to extract the lung region, avoiding the influence of regions outside the lung on the detection results. Subsequently, five models (Densenet121, Inception V3, Resnet18, Mobilenet V3, VGG16) are applied to TB detection, and the attention maps of each model are visualized using Grad-CAM. These attention maps are applied to knowledge distillation to finally obtain a lightweight interpre table TB detection model. This model achieves 91.2% and 85.7% accuracy on Shenzhen and Montgomery datasets, which verifies the effec-tiveness of the model. © 2023 IEEE.

Mobile technology use in education is changing, much like in the business and health sectors. Research is now conducted on designing user-centric platforms that allow people to engage in teaching and learning activities. Although the learning management systems (LMS) field supports students and academic endeavors, the application’s high requirements prevent it from having the desired effect. More significantly, although mobile applications are conve-nient, there is a chance that user data could be maliciously exploited and eavesdropped. Due to the communication overhead of sending raw data to the central learning processor, wire-less application structures cannot adapt to the original structure of mobile learning, which calls for data and processing heads to have a centralized entity. The goal is to offer fresh viewpoints and approaches that bring educational assessment up to date. This project aims to give educators scientifically based assessment tools and tactics by thoroughly examining the use of mobile technology in academic assessment. A mathematical multi-objective optimization model and metaheuristic algorithm for effective advertising in the social internet of things

The integration of social networks with the Internet of Things (IoT) has been explored in recent research, giving rise to the Social Internet of Things (SIoT). One promising application of SIoT is viral marketing, which plays a critical role in modern advertising. However, current solutions proposed for viral marketing are often impractical in real-world scenarios, and there has been limited investigation into viral marketing within the context of SIoT. To address this issue, we present a multi-objective integer linear programming model named ILP-ASoT that facilitates advertising through SIoT. Our approach introduces two realistic parameters: the node sociality rate and the node appropriateness rate as an advertising destination. By balancing the cost of selecting a seed set with the number of users who receive the advertisement, our model offers an appropriate trade-off. Since this is proven as an NP-hard problem, A PSO-based metaheuristic algorithm is proposed to provide near-optimal solutions for advertising in SIoT, called PSO-ASoT. Through simulations, we show that our PSO-ASoT algorithm outperforms state-of-the-art algorithms in several metrics, such as influence spread, advertising cost, and duplicated advertising rate. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag London Ltd., part of Springer Nature 2024.

Cyber security is dynamic as defenders often need to adapt their defense postures. The state-ofthe-art is that the adaptation of network defense is done manually(i.e., tedious and error-prone). The ideal solution is to automate adaptive network defense, which is however a difficult problem. As a first step towards automation, we propose investigating how to attain semi-automated adaptive network defense(SAND). We propose an approach extending the architecture of software-defined networking, which is centered on providing defenders with the capability to program the generation and deployment of dynamic defense rules enforced by network defense tools. We present the design and implementation of SAND, as well as the evaluation of the prototype implementation. Experimental results show that SAND can achieve agile and effective dynamic adaptations of defense rules(less than 15 ms on average for each operation), while only incurring a small performance overhead.

A cloud-based Artificial Intelligence (AI) service has recently empowered the Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) in many applications on the remote Human Interaction Recognition of Pervasive Healthcare Monitoring (HIR-PHM). In this work, a framework of the skeleton-based HIR-PHM under secure Edge-Fog-Cloud computing (EFCC) was proposed to manage the computation and storage resources, latency, cyber-attack, and privacy-preserving simultaneously. At the Edge, IoMT with a camera, record the human interaction as videos and sends them to the Fog, which installed a human pose estimation model, PoseNet, to convert the videos into human skeleton data. At the Cloud, a skeleton-based Spatial-Temporal Graph Convolution Network with Pairwise Adjacency Matrix (STGCN-PAM) was employed to recognize the human interaction. A Hybrid of One Time Password (OTP), Hashed Messages Authentication Code (HMAC), and symmetric cipher were employed to secure the skeleton data. The UT-Interaction dataset was used to evaluate the proposed framework. Besides, the computation performance and latency under EFCC were compared with Edge-Fog and Edge-Cloud deployments. Experimental results confirmed two major contributions: 1) the proposed framework has promising performance compared with other methods on the dataset. 2) The skeleton-based HIR-PHM with secure EFCC shows the advantages of better computation performance in terms of frame per second. © 2013 IEEE.
