We report the discovery of OGLE-2016-BLG-1190Lb, which is likely to be the first Spitzer microlensing planet in the Galactic bulge/bar, an assignation that can be confirmed by two epochs of high-resolution imaging of the combined source-lens baseline object. The planet’s mass Mp = 13.4 ± 0.9 MJ places it right at the deuterium burning limit, i.e., the conventional boundary between "planets" and "brown dwarfs". Its existence raises the question of whether such objects are really "planets" (formed within the disks of their hosts) or "failed stars" (low massobjects formed by gas fragmentation). This question may ultimately be addressed by comparing disk and bulge/bar planets, which is a goal of the Spitzer microlens program. The host is a G dwarf Mhost = 0.89 ± 0.07 M and the planet has a semi-major axis a ∼ 2.0 AU. We use Kepler K2 Campaign 9 microlensing data to break the lens-mass degeneracy that generically impacts parallax solutions from Earth-Spitzer observations alone, which is the first successful application of this approach. The microlensing data, derived primarily from near-continuous, ultra-dense survey observations from OGLE, MOA, and three KMTNet telescopes, contain more orbital information than for any previous microlensing planet, but not quite enough to accurately specify the full orbit. This study attempts to propose a model integrating real videos into the development of simulations on iPads to support students' science learning about motions based on Predict, Observation and Explanation (POE) framework. Motion examples in videos embedded in the simulation were employed to assist students in contrasting stimulated phenomena and real-world cases for meaning making about force and motion. A preliminary study found that the students, who were given with the video clips, exhibited significantly higher frequencies of modeling (manipulating variables to simulate the movement) and replaying (watching the simulation) than those who were not given with the videos while dealing with complex motion. Such a result suggest that integrating video clips into the simulation could be helpful to stimulate students' involvements in reviewing and revising the simulation while exploring more complex concepts.

Recently, the rapid technological growth of automobiles expects us to the various usages for the near future, and V2V communication is also a part of novel technologies to realize novel usages as well as ITS. This paper proposes the V2V communication with Delay Tolerant networks (DTN) for safety surveillance system in the local area during the winter season. In the proposed system, the automobiles equip the sensor of Quasi Electrostatic Field (QEF) on the wheels, and it observes the frozen condition of the roads. Then, the observed data is transmitted to another automobile with IEEE802.11p based DTN. The simulation is held for the effectiveness of the proposed V2V networks with the map of Morioka and Takizawa in Japan. Then, the results are discussed for the future studies of the V2V communication methods based on the DTN for the safety surveillance system in local areas during the winter.

Low confidence toward mathematics is one of the critical issues that diminish students' will to learn mathematics. Several studies indicated that game-based learning (GBL) might be a potential approach to address this issue. In addition, mental calculation, a fundamental mathematical skill, was considered to be a potential skill that may build students' confidence toward mathematics. Thus, this study attempted to promote students' mathematical confidence by incorporating mini-games, a sub-genre of games, into mental calculation learning. A preliminary study was conducted to investigate how students reacted to learn mental calculation in a mini-game environment. The results of the preliminary study suggested that the mini-game-based approach was popular to students. However, it was observed that students' with different levels of academic ability might benefit diversely from the mini-game environment. Thus, an experiment was conducted to investigate how students with different levels of academic ability react to learn mental calculation with mini-games, in terms of two important aspects of learning, i.e., performance and confidence. A control group participated in a paper-based learning approach to provide a baseline of comparison. The results indicated that The mini-games helped both high- and low-ability students gain significant improvement on their mathematical confidence. In addition, the low-ability students learned with mini-games gained more improvement on mental calculation than their paper-based peers did.

This study designed English as foreign language learning activities in a familiar authentic environment with mobile technological support. Students learned at school and then applied new knowledge to solve daily life problems by taking pictures of learning objects, describing them, and sharing their homework with peers. This study carried out two experiments in which 59 junior high school students participated. One class with 28 students served as the control group in the experiment 1 and as the experimental group in the experiment 2. The other class with 31 students served as the experimental group in the experiment 1 and as the control group in the experiment 2. Control students studied and completed each learning activity with traditional textbooks while the experimental group studied with an electronic textbook and a learning system installed in the tablet PCs. This study aimed to investigate effects of mobile learning in familiar authentic environment on learning achievement and cognitive load. This study discusses results, research findings, and implications along with conclusions and several suggestions for future development and research.
