A cooperative adaptive cruise control (CACC) system enables shorter gaps and tighter control of gaps using vehicle-vehicle communication, and the CACC system has significant positive effects on traffic flow in highway system. The study is about an applicable evaluation of human machine interface (HMI) for CACC of trucks using a truck driving simulator (DS) system. A novel truck DS was constructed to reproduce truck dynamics and control by integrating a full-scale cabin of truck into a universal DS system. And a gap distance controller for longitudinal and lateral directions was designed to realize the CACC of trucks. A HMI system prepared for the actual-vehicle CACC driving was used for examine the driver's acceptance, which is mainly about whether the HMI help driver to realize safe and comfortable CACC driving when the HMI system real-time provides the advanced information service.

In this research, an attempt was carried out to enhance the out-of-plane through-thickness mechanical properties of laminated carbon fibers reinforced polymer matrix (CFRP) composites. To improve the out-of-plane through-thickness impact properties of 2D CFRP composites, carbon nanotubes (CNTs) were grafted on the carbon fibers via flexible interphase without damages on the surface of carbon fibers as happens in other grafting processes such as Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD) for CNT growth on carbon fibers. There are two issues for the present research. One is the optimal distribution and percentage of grafted CNTs via flexible interphase. The other is to establish simple and economical process that can be used for composite industry.

This paper investigates the problem of ℋ ∞ model reduction for a class of discrete-time Markovian jump linear systems (MJLSs) with deficient mode information, which simultaneously involves the exactly known, partially unknown, and uncertain transition probabilities. By fully utilizing the properties of the transition probability matrices, together with the convexification of uncertain domains, a new ℋ ∞ performance analysis criterion for the underlying MJLSs is first derived, and then two approaches, namely, the convex linearisation approach and iterative approach, for the ℋ ∞ model reduction synthesis are proposed. Finally, a simulation example is provided to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed design methods.

Because of the serious situation of environmental pollution all over the world, the water hydraulic technique using pure tap water as a pressure medium has become new drive source comparable to electric, oil hydraulic, and pneumatic drive systems. Furthermore, water hydraulics is also preferred because of its high power density, clean, high safety against fire hazards, and easy availability. However, the main problems for precise control in water hydraulic systems are steady state errors and overshoot due to its large friction torque and considerable leakage flow. In this study, a simple adaptive control (SAC) algorithm that is appropriate for dealing with these problems will be applied to a water hydraulic servo motor system for both angle and velocity controls. SAC also has simple, lower order structure, and few adaptive parameters;thus, it is high feasibility in real applications. For both angle and velocity controls using SAC, the tracking performances are good in simulation: 0.08 degree and almost 0 revolution per minute (min~(-1)) for angle and velocity controls, respectively. The controllers also can highly attenuate the effects of disturbances.

The mathematical model of the 2D system is established based on the well-known Fornasini-Marchesini local state-space model, and the defective mode information simultaneously consists
of the exactly known, partially unknown, and uncertain transition probabilities. By carefully analyzing
the features of the transition probability matrices, together with the convexification of
uncertain domains, a new ℋ ∞ performance analysis criterion for the underlying system is firstly
derived, and then the ℋ ∞ state-feedback controller synthesis is developed via a linearisation technique.
It is shown that the controller gains can be constructed by solving a set of linear matrix
inequalities. Finally, an illustrative example is provided to verify the effectiveness of the proposed
design method.

Many kinds of ciphertext-policy attribute-based encryption (CP-ABE) schemes have been proposed. In CP-ABE, the set of user attributes is associated with his/her secret key whereas a policy is associated with a ciphertext so that only users whose attributes satisfy the policy can decrypt the ciphertext. CP-ABE may be applied to a variety of services such as access control for file sharing systems and content distribution services. However, CP-ABE costs more for encryption and decryption in comparison with conventional public key encryption schemes since it can handle more flexible policies. In particular, wildcards, which mean that certain attributes are not relevant to the ciphertext policy, are not essential for a certain service. In this paper, we construct a partially wildcarded CP-ABE scheme with a lower decryption cost. In our scheme, the user's attributes are separated into those requiring wildcards and those not requiring wildcards. Our scheme hence embodies a CP-ABE scheme with a wildcard functionality and an efficient CP-ABE scheme without wildcard functionality. We compare our scheme with the conventional CP-ABE schemes and describe a content distribution service as an application of our scheme.
