Skillful motor control by humans is achieved by the appropriate motor commands generating from the central nervous system. An internal model in the cerebellum may contribute to the realization of accurate motor control. In this work, a model of human motor control of manual tracking to move a visible target was constructed based on experimental data from a visual tracking test with normal healthy adults and with patients with cerebellar ataxia. A compensation method to improve the motor function of patients was also developed by using the model.

<正>The thermal energy conversion plant using small temperature difference is a prospective technique for utilizing the ocean thermal energy and waste industrial thermal energy. This paper describes a dynamic model for a kind of this plant based on Uehara cycle built by the Institute of Ocean Energy, Saga University, Japan. Some simulation results attained by this model and the analysis of the results are presented. The analysis can provide useful information for the structure design and control system design of the plant.

Electroencephalograph (EEG) recordings during right and left motor imagery can be used to move a cursor to a target on a computer screen. Such an EEG-based brain-computer interface (BCI) can provide a new communication channel to replace an impaired motor function. It can be used by e.g., handicap users with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). In this study, statistical pattern recognition method based on AR model was introduced to discriminate the EEG signals recorded during right and left motor imagery. And learning methods (processing period for parameter estimation, AR order, etc.) were investigated. Finally, the effectiveness of our method was confirmed through the experimental studies.

A nonlinear optimization-based identification procedure for fully parameterized multivariable state-space models is presented. The method can be used to identify linear time-invariant, linear parameter-varying, composite local linear, bilinear. Hammerstein and Wiener systems. The nonuniqueness of the full parameterization is dealt with by a projected gradient search to solve the nonlinear optimization problem. Both white and nonwhite measurement noise at the output can be dealt with in a maximum likelihood setting. It is proposed to use subspace identification methods to initialize the nonlinear optimization problem. A computationally efficient and numerically reliable implementation of the procedure is discussed in detail.

This paper is concerned with an application study of model-based fault detection method to a ship propulsion system. When modeling the object system, Quasi-ARMAX model with multi-model form is used. In this model, the system non-linearity is incorporated into model parameters by using non-linear non-parametric models (NNMs). Kullback discrimination Information (KDI) is introduced as fault detection index to evaluate the distortion in identified model, which is caused by a fault. The effectiveness of the method is verified through simulation studies on the ship propulsion system.

A controlsystemsengineering approach, employing a two-level overall system architecture and different but compatible formalisms for system representation on the upper and lower levels, has been investigated in detail. One design alternative is based on employing fuzzy-system approximators and solving for the adaptive tracking of the given, arbitrary, desired system outputs. The other alternative is based on state equations of composite systems and the use of neural-network approximators to deal with uncertainties and control adaptation. In both alternatives similarity property of subsystems has been exploited. Both designs can be implemented within the standard computer process control technology, and are therefore believed to be promising in applied systemsengineering.
