One of the most important goals of theoretical ecologists is to find a strategy for controlling the chaos in ecological models to maintain healthy ecosystems. We investigate the influence of fear and the supply of additional food to predators in a delayed tri-trophic food chain model, where interference among the species is determined by Holling type-II functional response. The proposed model incorporates the fact that the growth rates of prey and middle predators are decreased due to the fear of middle and special predators, respectively. The additional food is supplied to both predators by either nature or external agencies. Furthermore, the poisoned prey in the predator's environment is taken into account. In the proposed model, we use two time delays: one for the growth term of the middle predator and another for the gestation delay of the special predator. We determine the conditions for the existence of ecologically feasible equilibrium points and their local and global stability. In addition, we establish the conditions for the existence of Hopf bifurcation around interior equilibrium to seek periodic behavior in nondelayed and delayed models. Numerical investigations are performed to justify the proposed theoretical findings through phase portraits, time series of solutions, and bifurcation diagrams. We observe that the chaotic dynamics of a tri-trophic food chain model can be controlled by the proper choice of the fear effect and by supplying additional food parameters. As a result, our findings provide more ecological insights into the dynamics of the delayed tri-trophic food chain model with the fear effect and additional food supply. © 2023 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

Induced seismicity is strongly related to various engineering projects that cause anthropogenic in-situ stress change at a great ***,there is a need to estimate and mitigate the associated *** the past,various simulation methods have been developed and applied to induced seismicity analysis,but there is still a fundamental diference between simulation results and feld observations in terms of the spatial distribution of seismic events and its *** present study aims to develop a method to simulate spatially distributed on-fault seismicity whilst reproducing a complex stress state in the fault ***,an equivalent continuum model is constructed,based on a discrete fracture network within a fault damage zone,by employing the crack tensor theory.A fault core is simulated at the center of the model as a discontinuous *** the model,a heterogeneous stress state with stress anomalies in the fault zone is frst simulated by applying tractions on the model outer ***,the efective normal stress on the fault plane is decreased in a stepwise manner to induce *** simulation result is validated in terms of the b-value and other seismic source parameters,hence demonstrating that the model can reproduce spatially and temporally distributed on-fault *** analysis on the parameters shows the variation of frequency-magnitude distribution before the occurrence of large seismic *** variation is found to be consistent with feld observations,thus suggesting the potential use of this simulation method in evaluating the risk for seismic hazards in various engineering projects.

The increase in population and the expansion of transportation, agriculture, and industry drive the need for energy, leading to a reliance on fossil fuels as the primary energy source. This reliance results in heightened greenhouse gas emissions and environmental damage. To address this, efforts have been made to harness the diverse range of available biomass for energy production, including gas, heat, and electricity through various conversion methods. This article explores the global availability of biomass for energy production, current energy consumption and production trends, biomass classifications and sources, conversion techniques, challenges hindering biomass implementation, and the potential of biomass as an alternative energy source alongside wind, geothermal, and hydroelectric power to eventually replace fossil fuels. The analysis indicates that biomass holds promise for energy generation and can complement other renewable resources in transitioning away from fossil fuels. Pneumonia is one of the top causes of death in Romania and early detection of this disease improves the recovery chances and shortens the length of hospitalization. In this work, we develop a solution for automatic pneumonia detection based on convolutional neural networks. Four network models are investigated. They are trained on 4.163 images from a public dataset and tested on 530 images. The best results are obtained by one of the proposed models conducting to a sensitivity of 98.72%, an accuracy of 89.81%, and ROC 93.46%. Thus, this research proposes a lightweight screening tool that can help triaging the patients with pneumonia. © 2023 IEEE.

Predicting Microbe-Disease Association Based on Heterogeneous Network and Global Graph Feature Learning

Numerous microbes inhabit human body,making a vast difference in human health. Hence, discovering associations between microbes and diseases is beneficial to disease prevention and treatment. In this study,we develop a prediction method by learning global graph feature on the heterogeneous network(called HNGFL).Firstly, a heterogeneous network is integrated by known microbe-disease associations and multiple *** on microbe Gaussian interaction profile(GIP) kernel similarity, we consider different effects of these microbes on organs in the human body to further improve microbe similarity. For disease similarity network, we combine GIP kernel similarity, disease semantic similarity and disease-symptom similarity. And then, an embedding algorithm called GraRep is used to learn global structural information for this network. According to vector feature of every node, we utilize support vector machine classifier to calculate the score for each microbe-disease pair. HNGFL achieves a reliable performance in cross validation, outperforming the compared methods. In addition, we carry out case studies of three diseases. Results show that HNGFL can be considered as a reliable method for microbe-disease association prediction.
