The utilization of solar energy in grid-connected photovoltaic installations has become increasingly significant. This article introduces a photovoltaic system seamlessly integrated with a three-phase network. The system employing a five-level Neutral Point Clamped (NPC) voltage source inverter is designed for a single-step connection to enhance power quality in the distribution network. The control technique employed for the efficient functioning of the photovoltaic system is based on the notion of instantaneous reactive power. Notably, this strategy is straightforward, operates the system throughout the day, and eliminates the need for Phase-Locked Loop (PLL) usage. The Pulse-Width Modulated (PWM) Current controller sends switching signals to the NPC multilevel inverter, which does a great job of dynamic performance under steady-state and transient situations. The proportional-integral controller regulates the voltage of the Uninterruptible Power Supply DC bus capacitors. The proposed system undergoes comprehensive simulation validation under various irradiation levels.

Accurate identification and position of transmission lines is critical for robots to safely and effectively perform distribution network operations. However, such tasks are often challenged by complex lighting conditions, where depth information can be easily lost. Transmission lines have limited texture features and reflective surfaces, making it difficult to match image feature points. To address these challenges, this paper proposes a visual perception system for weak texture targets under complex lighting, based on an "eye-on-hand" configuration and a depth complementation algorithm. Furthermore, a high-precision identification and localization method for transmission line grasping points is developed, utilizing the fusion of binocular visual color maps and depth maps. The proposed method has been shown to effectively solve the problem of identifying and localizing the grasping points of transmission lines under complex lighting conditions. Experiments demonstrated that the method can improve the localization accuracy to within ±4mm, outperforming other algorithms. The method is characterized as simple and efficient, and it enhances the environmental adaptability of distribution network robots. © 2024 IEEE.

Early detection of infants with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) can lead to effective developmental support. In clinical practice, early screening of 18-month-old infants is implemented using a parent-completed questionnaire. However, research has suggested that signs of ASD may also appear in movement characteristics during the first few months of age. In this paper, we propose a method to evaluate infant movement from videos based on non-negative tensor factorization (NTF) and apply it to ASD risk assessment in the neonatal period. The proposed method applies NTF to pose data estimated from videos, and decomposes the infant’s movements into multiple components while considering the linkage between body parts. In the experiment, we evaluated the effectiveness of the proposed method using 36 low-risk infants and 13 high-risk infants for ASD, with the aim of applying the method to ASD risk assessment. The results showed that the proposed method captured the tendency for infants to perform different movements depending on their risk level. Machine learning analysis revealed that the proposed method identified ASD risk with an accuracy exceeding 70%, which was comparable or superior to the existing video evaluation method based on heuristically designed indicators.

Motivated by current sharing in power networks, we consider a class of output consensus (also called agreement) problems for nonlinear systems, where the consensus value is determined by external disturbances, e.g., power demand. This output consensus problem is solved by a simple distributed output feedback controller if a system is either Krasovskii or shifted passive, which is the only essential requirement. This paper presents a comprehensive convergence analysis for the mirror descent (MD) method, a widely used algorithm in convex optimization. The key feature of this algorithm is that it provides a generalization of classical gradient-based methods via the use of generalized distance-like functions, which are formulated using the Bregman divergence. Establishing convergence rate bounds for this algorithm is in general a non-trivial problem due to the lack of monotonicity properties in the composite nonlinearities involved. In this paper, we show that the Bregman divergence from the optimal solution, which is commonly used as a Lyapunov function for this algorithm, is a special case of Lyapunov functions that follow when the Popov criterion is applied to an appropriate reformulation of the MD dynamics. This is then used as a basis to construct an integral quadratic constraint (IQC) framework through which convergence rate bounds with reduced conservatism can be deduced. We also illustrate via examples that the convergence rate bounds derived can be tight. Copyright © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

This paper investigates the fault detection and isolation problem of a class of leader-follower multi-agent systems subject to unknown-but-bounded disturbances under an event-triggered communication mechanism (ETCM). Firstly, an adaptive ETCM is proposed to avoid the continuous acquisition of outputs from neighboring agents, thereby reducing the communication burden. Secondly, a joint state and fault observer is designed, and H∞ analysis is utilized to improve the robustness of the observer against external disturbances and event-triggered errors. Next, zonotopic reachability analysis is utilized to derive the estimated intervals of the system state and fault signal, based on which a fault detection and isolation method is developed to determine both when the system is faulty and which agent is at fault. Finally, a fighter formation model is employed to verify the effectiveness of the proposed approach. © 2014 IEEE.

systems of oscillators whose internal phases and spatial dynamics are coupled, swarmalators, present diverse collective behaviors which in some cases lead to explosive synchronization in a finite population as a function of the coupling parameter between internal phases. Near the synchronization transition, the phase energy of the particles is represented by the XY model, and they undergo a transition which can be of the first order or the second depending on the distribution of natural frequencies of their internal dynamics. The first-order transition is obtained after an intermediate state (static wings phase wave state) from which the nodes, in cascade over time, achieve complete phase synchronization at a precise value of the coupling constant. For a particular case of natural frequencies distribution, a new phenomenon, the rotational splintered phase wave state, is observed and leads progressively to synchronization through clusters switching alternatively from one to two and for which the frequency decreases as the phase coupling increases.
