The inappropriatemodelling strategies can lead to unsatisfactory prediction results for landslide susceptibility assessment (LSA). The objectivesof this study are to reveal the impact of dataset design value (ratio of negative to positive samples) and partition (ratio of training to testing dataset) on the accuracy of LSA based on different machine learning models. The Yunyang County of the Three Gorges Reservoir area (China) was taken as the study area and 15 conditioning factors were determined. Ten modelling datasets design values (0.125, 0.25, 0.5, 1, 2, 5, 8, 10, 12 and 15) were determined for the ratio of non-landslide and landslide samples, and each modelling dataset was divided into five partitions ((50:50) %, (60:40) %, (70:30) %, (80:20) % and (90:10) %) for the ratio of training and testing datasets. Each scenario was then applied on four machine learning models (Classification and Regression tree (CART), Bayes Network (BN), Logistic Regression (LR) and Multilayer Perceptron (MLP)). The optimal parameters of the modelling dataset were obtained by comparing 200 sets of the AUC under different combined scenarios. The results showed that different sampling strategies significantly affect the accuracy of LSA. With increasing of the design values, the AUC of the CART and MLP models first increased and then decreased, peaking at 1 (AUC=0.85 and 0.83), while the AUC of the BN and LR models remained stable, vary from 0.755 to 0.796. Comparatively, different partitions had less impact on the AUC of various models, AUC vary by around 0.04. The highest prediction accuracy was obtained when the design value was 1 and the partition was (80:20) %. The outcome can provide a guideline for researchers to choose an optimal modelling strategy for LSA in the future.

This letter presents a biosensor utilizing a whispering gallery mode resonator characterized by azimuthal symmetry and crescent-shaped coatings of silver. The study investigates the impact of the coupling gap on the extinction ratio and Q-factor of the setup. The resonator is coated with silver in crescent shapes, ranging from 40 to 65 nm thick. Coupling is achieved with a silica waveguide, simulating the tapered fiber coupling method. Notably, the resonator exhibits a maximum sensitivity of 220 nm/RIU when coated with 55 nm silver in conjunction with a four nm-thick layer of thiol-tethered DNA. This biosensor holds promise for biomolecule detection applications.
