Grid computing is a hot research direction in computer field. Resource management is an important part of this research. In Grid environment, satisfactory services for discovering resources and allocating appropriate resources can be provided to the Grid users though the agents. Agent based resource management with alternate solution (ABRMAS) has been proposed. But the alternate solution is not explicit. This paper adds the middleware grid architecture for computational economy (GRACE) with resources pricing fluctuation manager (RPFM) into ABRMAS. The new model is designed so as to provide negotiate solution when resource discovery fails of nodes occurrence. Through simulation experiments, the system profit and successful rate are all improved by the new model.

There may be some malicious nodes in the Grid environment because the resource of nodes can access the Grid system freely. The number and qualities of this resource can be change dramatically and optionally, so it is possible to affect the utilization of Grid resource. Hence, the trust mechanism is widely used in the management of Grid. This paper proposes a new method to detect the behaviors of resource providers in Grid environments based on D-S theory. Through simulating experiments, this mechanism can record the behaviors exactly and prevent the malicious ones. Then it gives a strong support for resource scheduling in the Grid.

In the paper, we present an approach of image processing analysis to extract flowchart information from digital imagery. Firstly, flowchart imagery is processed to extract the text components and then extract the geometrical shapes components. We analyze text, and various geometrical shapes present in flowchart and carry out a variety of processes such as image segmentation, shape description, text and geometric components extraction, recognition and linking. The text components are extracted and then geometrical components are extracted. we also proposed a auto directional transformation of contour chain method for shape description. The internal relationship between the components is set up by tracing the flow lines which connect different components. Thus a flowchart is correctly extracted. The extracted components are output to metadata (XML format) which is machine readable. These metadata can be archived, store as knowledge base or shared with others. Finally, an example is presented and the results show that the proposed technique is efficient.

Requirements engineers have been eliciting requirements using various techniques, methods and tools. This paper proposes a mobile application tool to facilitate requirements elicitation process supporting story-based technique. Conventional devices and tools used in RE process in order to gather information mostly are deploying desktop computers or notebooks. Owing to their size and less mobility feature, they are usually not brought to the work place of the stakeholders. The advancing capabilities of mobile devices and mobile tools can significantly contribute to the facilitation of RE activities. A "story based mobile application for requirements engineering process (SMAREP)" is a mobile based application tool to help requirements engineers and analysts in eliciting, documenting and validating information from stakeholders.

The focus of this paper is a construction of better knowledge base in case-based classifier system. Our knowledge base structure is based on concept lattice where rules are built from its subconcept-superconcept relation. Since the lattice can only be constructed from inputs with binary attributes, descriptive and numeric attributes must be transformed to binary attributes. In this paper, we propose the transformation of numeric attributes to descriptive attributes using fuzzy set theory. We experiment on benchmark data sets, Car and Iris, to determine the performance in term of number of rules used and classification precision. The results show that trend of accuracy is proportional to the size of learning inputs. The number of rules used is relatively small compared with size of training data. Our case-based classifier produces very promising results in practice and can classify the new problem more accurate than traditional classifiers. Copyright 2008 ACM.

Producing software that is adaptable to the rapid environmental changes and the dynamic nature of the business life-cycle is extensively becoming a topical issue in the software evolution. In this context, change propagation (CP) process is one of the critical parts in the software change management. Traditional strategies have projected more complex ways, resulting to substantial failures and risks. This paper presents an investigation and highlights on the desired criteria to provide better means to simplify the complicated CP tasks. The evaluation results may be used as a foundation in improving CP approaches that provide significant challenges in software evolution.

Much as software is very useful as a driving force of physical machine in assisting many aspects of human endeavor, it is also often accomplished with delicate aspect especially when correct specification and quality are not met. Ranging from less critical applications (such as payroll), to highly sophisticated application (such as health care system) as well as mission critical applications (such as space mission), failures in the functionality of these systems are often accompanied by disproportionate heavy losses to the respective users. In addition, industrial application is performance-intensive and cannot afford to fail. In this paper, our novel open onions ontology was presented which approaches software development from a layered point of view, the open source approach as an alternative methodology for industrial application development was proposed. Various issues involved in industrial applications were reviewed, the current industrial development methodologies were discussed and possibilities of adopting open source were explored.
