Deep learning practices have a great impact in many areas. Big data and significant hardware developments are the main reasons behind deep learning success. Recent advances in deep learning have led to significant improvements in text analysis and classification. Progress in the quality of word representation is an important factor among these improvements. In this study, we aimed to develop word2vec word representation, also called embedding, by automatically optimizing hyperparameters. Minimum word count, vector size, window size, negative sample, and iteration number were used to improve word embedding. We introduce two approaches for setting hyperparameters that are faster than grid search and random search. Word embeddings were created using documents of approximately 300 million words. We measured the quality of word embedding using a deep learning classification model on documents of 10 different classes. It was observed that the optimization of the values of hyperparameters alone increased classification success by 9%. In addition, we demonstrate the benefits of our approaches by comparing the semantic and syntactic relations between word embedding using default and optimized hyperparameters. © 2021 John Wiley & Sons Ltd

While social media has reached the peak of its popularity, the addiction to social media become a major issue. With the present pandemic the authorities are forced to close the schools and to shift to virtual classrooms. The students must therefore use a connected devise to participate to the classes which has contributed to the increased addiction to social media among the youth. Inappropriate or excessive usage social media may affect the studies as well as mental and physical health of the user. Spread of fake news through social media has also been a big problem. Mainly, due to its convenience of usage, social media, has become a daily necessity, especially among the youth. So, the primary goal of this study project is to determine the impact of social media on school students' academic performance and to suggest a separate social media platform which will meet their needs. © 2022 IEEE.

Structure learning of Bayesian networks using sparrow optimization algorithm

Bayesian networks are powerful analytical models in machine learning, used to represent probabilistic relationships among variables and create learning structures. These networks are made up of parameters that show conditional probabilities and a structure that shows how random variables interact with each other. The structure is shown by a directed acyclic graph. Despite the NP-hard nature of learning Bayesian network structures, there has been significant progress in improving the accuracy of approximation solutions. The main focus is on score-based search strategies, which make use of functions to evaluate network models and identify structures with high scores. This study is significantly focused on structure learning Bayesian networks using the Bayesian Dirichlet equivalent uniform scoring function and metaheuristic search strategies. To this end, this paper presents the sparrow optimization algorithm (SOA), a new metaheuristic algorithm derived from the foraging behavior of sparrows. SOA performs a concurrent optimization in the solution space by simultaneously performing a local and global search that leads to the discovery of near-optimal structures. The results from our experiments on several benchmark datasets show that SOA yields overall better performance than SA and greedy search algorithms. In particular, it is claimed that by applying the proposed approach of SOA, the convergence speed is significantly higher compared with the existing ones;F1 score is 0.35 and 0.05 for the Hamming distance with better results. Given these results, signed operators prove to be very efficient in SOA’s Bayesian network structure learning as a concept, especially for real-world use. © (2024), (Society of Sytematic Innovation). Fish farmers operating at Sirindhorn Dam in Ubon Ratchathani have faced significant challenges, including high mortality rates attributable to unstable weather conditions that compromise water quality. To tackle these issues, the Internet of Things has emerged as a tool to enhance aquaculture management. This research seeks to develop a prototype water quality monitoring system using LoRa technology to facilitate data transmission between sensor nodes in a peer-to-peer configuration. The development and testing of the system demonstrate its ability to accurately monitor key water quality parameters, including dissolved oxygen, pH, and water temperature, while allowing for remote data transmission. This research involved a sample group of five program development experts and 15 general users, with various tools employed for system efficiency assessment. A statistical analysis including the mean and standard deviation was performed to evaluate performance. The findings reveal a high overall efficiency assessment, with an average score of 4.43.

Ontologies are an essential component of semantic integration approaches for information systems . In a decentralized environment, each specification of the domain reflects an Ontological view. However, the semantics characterization of information systems in such decentralized environment poses a significant issue related to their integration. Information systems are viewed as independent intensional entities with their own beliefs, distinct from those held by others. Such autonomy is distorted by traditional extensional semantics. Other entities’ beliefs are introduced into a given entity, thus affecting their beliefs. Additionally, the information that one entity provides to another entity may not be consistent with the information known by the latter. We need an alternative semantics for information integration, which is not dependent on the extension, but rather on the underlying conceptualization. This paper proposes a classification of the environment where the information systems lives and a novel modelling paradigm for information integration using intensional logic to model the ontological views. Sketching indoor scenes is helpful in daily activities as it allows for quick visualization and planning of room layouts, furniture arrangements, design ideas, or scene creation for games and entertainment. This motivates our proposal of Sketch2Reality, a system to simplify the creation of immersive 3D indoor scenes from 2D sketch images. Users sketch their desired scene, and our system identifies sketched objects and their positions, then retrieves and populates corresponding 3D models into the generating 3D scene. Users can then modify the scene, rearrange furniture, adjust lighting, and add or remove objects. Integration with Virtual Reality technology allows users to experience and interact with the scene realistically. Our experiments with three groups of users with different experience levels in 3D scene design and creation demonstrate the efficiency and usefulness of our solution. Sketch2Reality empowers users to dynamically bring their ideas to life, combining sketching, AI assistance for 3D generation, and VR for enhanced creativity and design exploration. © 2023 ACM.

A multitude of individuals across the globe grapple with motor disabilities. Neural prosthetics utilizing Brain-computer Interface (BCI) technology exhibit promise for improving motor rehabilitation outcomes. The intricate nature of EEG data poses a significant hurdle for current BCI systems. Recently, a qualitative repository of EEG signals tied to both upper and lower limb execution of motor and motor imagery tasks has been unveiled. Despite this, the productivity of the Machine Learning (ML) Models that were trained on this dataset was alarmingly deficient, and the evaluation framework seemed insufficient. To enhance outcomes, robust feature engineering (signal processing) methodologies are implemented. A collection of time domain, frequency domain, and wavelet-derived features was obtained from 16-channel EEG signals, and the Maximum Relevance Minimum Redundancy (MRMR) approach was employed to identify the four most significant features. For classification K Nearest Neighbors, Support Vector Machine, Decision Tree, and Naïve Bayes models were implemented with these selected features, evaluating their effectiveness through metrics such as testing accuracy, precision, recall, and F1 Score. By leveraging SVM with a Gaussian Kernel, a remarkable maximum testing accuracy of 92.50% for motor activities and 95.48% for imagery activities is achieved. These results are notably more dependable and gratifying compared to the previous study, where the peak accuracy was recorded at 74.36%. This research work provides an in-depth analysis of the MI Limb EEG dataset and it will help in designing and developing simple, cost-effective and reliable BCI systems for neuro-rehabilitation. © 2024, CC BY-NC-ND.

DasAtom: A Divide-and-Shuttle Atom Approach to Quantum Circuit Transformation

Neutral atom (NA) quantum systems are emerging as a leading platform for quantum computation, offering superior or competitive qubit count and gate fidelity compared to superconducting circuits and ion traps. However, the unique features of NA devices, such as long-range interactions, long qubit coherence time, and the ability to physically move qubits, present distinct challenges for quantum circuit compilation. In this paper, we introduce DasAtom, a novel divide-and-shuttle atom approach designed to optimise quantum circuit transformation for NA devices by leveraging these capabilities. DasAtom partitions circuits into subcircuits, each associated with a qubit mapping that allows all gates within the subcircuit to be directly executed. The algorithm then shuttles atoms to transition seamlessly from one mapping to the next, enhancing both execution efficiency and overall fidelity. For a 30-qubit Quantum Fourier Transform (QFT), DasAtom achieves a 415.8x improvement in fidelity over the move-based algorithm Enola and a 10.6x improvement over the SWAP-based algorithm Tetris. Notably, this improvement is expected to increase exponentially with the number of qubits, positioning DasAtom as a highly promising solution for scaling quantum computation on NA platforms. © 1982-2012 IEEE.

One of the most challenging areas of robotics research is the mobile robot vehicle in a complicated obstacle environment. Recently, algorithms for autonomous mobile vehicles have largely been influenced by nature-based algorithms. The swarm behavior of many different organisms, such as ants, fireflies, honey bees, and foxes, is simulated by several algorithms in mobile robot research, and the results are highly interesting and inspiring. In this paper, we took the inspired algorithm as an ant colony which is used to solve the path planning problems for any mobile vehicle/robots. While studying and using the ant colony approaches to solve the problem, we found that the parameter selections are one of the important expects to make the results of any application worse or better. Therefore, we decided to perform the study on the parametric relation in an ant colony approach. The importance of utilization of the Ant Colony optimization (ACO) approach is to control the parameters. In this paper, we analysed/investigated the relationship between the different control parameters of the ACO algorithm and their performance in the resolution of path planning problem. Simulation is performed with different parameter values and by the result analysis, a selection of parameter is presented.
