Industrial automation systems (IAS) need to be highly dependable;they should not merely function as expected but also do so in a reliable, safe, and secure manner. Formal methods are mathematical techniques that can greatly aid in developing dependable systems and can be used across all phases of the system development life cycle (SDLC), including requirements engineering, system design and implementation, verification and validation (testing), maintenance, and even documentation. This state-of-the-art survey reports existing formal approaches for creating more dependable IAS, focusing on static formal methods that are used before a system is completely implemented. We categorize surveyed works based on the phases of the SDLC, allowing us to identify research gaps and promising future directions for each phase. Copyright © 2021, The Authors. A Unified Graph-Theoretic Framework for Free-Fermion Solvability

We show that a quantum spin system has an exact description by non-interacting fermions if its frustration graph is claw-free and contains a simplicial clique. The frustration graph of a spin model captures the pairwise anticommutation relations between Pauli terms of its Hamiltonian in a given basis. This result captures a vast family of known free-fermion solutions. In previous work, it was shown that a free-fermion solution exists if the frustration graph is either a line graph, or (even-hole, claw)-free. The former case generalizes the celebrated Jordan-Wigner transformation and includes the exact solution to the Kitaev honeycomb model. The latter case generalizes a non-local solution to the four-fermion model given by Fendley. Our characterization unifies these two approaches, extending generalized Jordan-Wigner solutions to the non-local setting and generalizing the four-fermion solution to models of arbitrary spatial dimension. Our key technical insight is the identification of a class of cycle symmetries for all models with claw-free frustration graphs. We prove that these symmetries commute, and this allows us to apply Fendley's solution method to each symmetric subspace independently. Finally, we give a physical description of the fermion modes in terms of operators generated by repeated commutation with the Hamiltonian. This connects our framework to the developing body of work on operator Krylov subspaces. Our results deepen the connection between many-body physics and the mathematical theory of claw-free graphs. This paper explores the environmental risks in supply chains and provides recommendations for subsequent studies. Typically, the environmental responsibility is a core part of sustainability which focuses attention directly to protecting and restoring the environment. Furthermore, environmental awareness is essential to design globally distributed supply chain networks. Therefore, the aim of this research is to explore the environmental risks and to identify the available solutions along with a projection of future trends. The basic research steps have been followed to complete this work. The Findings of this research describes the environmental risks that arises during supply chains operations. Furthermore, recommended solutions have been highlighted to address the identified risks. The Blockchain technology is regarded as a suitable solution for the environmental risks issue. Detection and Prevention of Jellyfish Attacks Using kNN Algorithm and Trusted Routing Scheme in MANET

Mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs) are surrounded by various vulnerabilities and attacks due to open medium, dynamic topology, limited energy, and absence of central control. In MANET, each attack has different behavior and aftermaths. DoS attack is one of the serious attacks in MANET, which disturbs the normal routing process. Jellyfish (JF) attack is a type of DoS attack in MANET, whose dynamic behavior makes it quite difficult to detect such attacks. In this paper, we propose a technique to detect the jellyfish attack in MANET. The proposed technique combines the authentication and trustworthiness of nodes and the kNN algorithm for the identification of jellyfish attacks in which each and every node calculates the primary and secondary trust values to detect the attacking node by the recommendation of neighboring nodes and trust metrics. The kNN algorithm separates the jellyfish nodes from other legitimate nodes based on the differences in their behavior. The proposed technique would then pick reliable nodes by the hierarchical trust assessment property of nodes to perform packet routing. The experiment shows that the proposed technique could decrease delay and increase the throughput of the network by avoiding jellyfish nodes. © 2021

In industrial domains with time and cost intensive manual or semi-automated inspection the demand for automation is high. Utilizing state of the art deep learning models for localization in vision-based domains such as wood log analysis, the precision can be increased while reducing the demand for manual inspection. In this paper a YOLO network is trained on wood log images to allow for detection of single wood piles in images with hundreds and thousands instances. Due to the high variability in scale and large amount of wood logs within the images, common YOLO architectures are not applicable. Thus, tiling is necessitated to implicitly form a multi-resolution image pyramid. Due to lack in training data, besides common data augmentation modelling of different seasonal and weather conditions is applied. The wood log detection process can be run on a client/server architecture to allow for both, preview and refined results. Evaluation on real-world data sets shows an log detection accuracy of 82,9% utilizing a tiny YOLO model and 94,1% with a fully connected YOLO model, respectively. © 2021 The Authors.

The Android system manages access to sensitive APIs by permission enforcement. An application (app) must declare proper permissions before invoking specific Android APIs. However, there is no official documentation providing the complete list of permission-protected APIs and the corresponding permissions to date. Researchers have spent significant efforts extracting such API protection mapping from the Android API framework, which leverages static code analysis to determine if specific permissions are required before accessing an API. Nevertheless, none of them has attempted to analyze the protection mapping in the native library (i.e., code written in C and C++), an essential component of the Android framework that handles communication with the lower-level hardware, such as cameras and sensors. While the protection mapping can be utilized to detect various security vulnerabilities in Android apps, such as permission over-privilege and component hijacking, imprecise mapping will lead to false results in detecting such security vulnerabilities. To fill this gap, we thereby propose to construct the protection mapping involved in the native libraries of the Android framework to present a complete and accurate specification of Android API protection. We develop a prototype system, named NATIDROID, to facilitate the cross-language static analysis to benchmark against two state-of-the-art tools, termed AXPLORER [1] and ARCADE [2]. We evaluate NATIDROID on more than 11,000 Android apps, including system apps from custom Android ROMs and third-party apps from the Google Play. Our NATIDROID can identify up to 464 new API-permission mappings, in contrast to the worst-case results derived from both AXPLORER and ARCADE, where approximately 71% apps have at least one false positive in permission over-privilege and up to 3.6% apps have at least one false negative in component hijacking. Knowledge Graphs typically suffer from incompleteness. A popular approach to knowledge graph completion is to infer missing knowledge by multi-hop reasoning over the information found along other paths connecting a pair of entities. However, multi-hop reasoning is still challenging because the reasoning process usually experiences multiple semantic issue that a relation or an entity has multiple meanings. In order to deal with the situation, we propose a novel Hierarchical Reinforcement Learning framework to learn chains of reasoning from a Knowledge Graph automatically. Our framework is inspired by the hierarchical structure through which a human being handles cognitionally ambiguous cases. The whole reasoning process is decomposed into a hierarchy of two-level Reinforcement Learning policies for encoding historical information and learning structured action space. As a consequence, it is more feasible and natural for dealing with the multiple semantic issue. Russian language datasets in the digitial humanities domain and their evaluation with word embeddings

In this paper, we present Russian language datasets in the digital humanities domain for the evaluation of word embedding techniques or similar language modeling and feature learning algorithms. The datasets are split into two task types, word intrusion and word analogy, and contain 31362 task units in total. The characteristics of the tasks and datasets are that they build upon small, domain-specific corpora, and that the datasets contain a high number of named entities. The datasets were created manually for two fantasy novel book series ("A Song of Ice and Fire" and "Harry Potter"). We provide baseline evaluations with popular word embedding models trained on the book corpora for the given tasks, both for the Russian and English language versions of the datasets. Finally, we compare and analyze the results and discuss specifics of Russian language with regards to the problem setting. Copyright © 2019, The Authors. All rights reserved.

5G communication systems provide an end-to-end wireless connection to billions of users and devices across the globe. The quality of signals received during radio communication is notably influenced by the behavior of the radio propagation channel. A major parameter used in characterizing this channel is the Path Loss Exponent (PLE). Several works that have estimated and analyzed the PLE mostly considered the effect of distance and carrier frequency. However, the effect of base station antenna height and channel bandwidth on the PLE for 5G networks have not been adequately considered. To address this, the impact of antenna height of base station and channel bandwidth on the PLE within the 5G Frequency Range 1 (FR1) frequencies was investigated in this study, specifically at 800, 3500, and 5900 MHz. The licensed EDX Signal Pro software® with Cirrus high resolution global terrain and clutter data base was utilized to model, simulate and analyze the PLE for Kano City, Nigeria. Results showed that for the tested frequencies, an increase in either base station height or channel bandwidth leads to a significant reduction in the PLE. This study can be utilized by network planning engineers and the wireless research community to further improve network implementation and optimization toward understanding the behavior of signal propagation in 5G networks and beyond.
