Context Agile software development (ASD) aims to deliver high-quality software. However, software quality often gets less attention due to focus on *** an evidence-based quality-aware ASD process that organizations can use to create a more quality-aware development process and improve software *** methodUsing design science research, we collaborated with four organizations applying ASD in different contexts. Involving a total of 35 practitioners, we designed company-specific evidence-based quality-aware ASD processes, which were validated through simulated scenarios, implemented, and evaluated by the practitioners. ResultsA general ASD process model, derived from the company-specific models, was created, which shows the specific activities, frequencies, roles, and development phases where evidence can be used to improve software quality. The new process model contributed towards improved bottleneck identification, release readiness, and quality issues prioritization. We also learned that companies must be mindful of the rules that determine the use of evidence. Conclusion Integrating the use of quality related evidence into the ASD process can make it quality-aware, supporting software quality management, and enabling timely reaction through fast feedback loops. The evidence-based quality-aware ASD process is applicable in any Scrum-like ASD process. Applicability in other forms of ASD, however, requires further research. © 2023, The Authors. This paper presents an application of the enhanced extended observer design with regard to the problem of robust output regulation of permanent magnet synchronous motors. The control framework is further advanced by means of the internal model so as to cope with disturbances represented by the time-varying load torque. The paper shows simulation of regulating a motor for different cases of torque loads and references and provides an explicit procedure of the recursive calculation of the enhanced extended observer coefficients.

Web extension is a software that can be installed on a web browser. A web-extension link is displayed as an icon on the toolbar of the browser. Based on browsing activity, the extension works automatically or by clicking the extension icon depending on the functionalities made in the extension software. In this work, we developed a web extension on Google Chrome browser to verify online texts by simply clicking on an extension button. Upon clicking the button, the underlying algorithm in the extension software retrieves the texts from the current web-page being displayed. Verification and authentication of texts are performed by comparing the retrieved texts with text database. According to the comparison, texts are highlighted in colors. We consider authentication of Arabic Hadith texts for a case study. The authentic Hadith texts are highlighted by green color;authentic texts with partial diacritics, by yellow;and unauthentic texts, by red. This technique can also be used to authenticate laws, constitutions and Government documents in any language. © 2019 IEEE.

Since the initial reports of the Coronavirus surfacing in Wuhan, China;the novel virus currently without a cure has spread like a wildfire across the globe. The virus spread exponentially across all inhabited continent;catching local governments by surprise in many cases and bringing the world economy to a standstill. As local authorities work on a response to deal with the virus, the scientific community has stepped in to help analyse and predict the pattern and conditions that would influence the spread of this unforgiving virus. Using existing statistical modelling tools to latest AI technology;the scientific community has used public and privately available data to help with predictions. A lot of this data research has enabled local authorities to plan their response – whether that is to deploy tightly available medical resources like ventilators or how and when to enforce policies to social distance including lockdowns. On one hand, this paper shows what accuracy of research brings to enable fighting this disease;while on the other hand it also shows what lack of response from local authorities can do in spreading this virus. This is our attempt in compiling different research methods and comparing their accuracy in predicting the spread of COVID-19. © 2020, CC BY.

Resource management in computing is a very challenging problem that involves making sequential decisions. Resource limitations, resource heterogeneity, dynamic and diverse nature of workload, and the unpredictability of fog/edge computing environments have made resource management even more challenging to be considered in the fog landscape. Recently Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) based solutions are adopted to solve this problem. AI/ML methods with the capability to make sequential decisions like reinforcement learning seem most promising for these type of problems. But these algorithms come with their own challenges such as high variance, explainability, and online training. The continuously changing fog/edge environment dynamics require solutions that learn online, adopting changing computing environment. In this paper, we used standard review methodology to conduct this Systematic Literature Review (SLR) to analyze the role of AI/ML algorithms and the challenges in the applicability of these algorithms for resource management in fog/edge computing environments. Further, various machine learning, deep learning and reinforcement learning techniques for edge AI management have been discussed. Furthermore, we have presented the background and current status of AI/ML-based Fog/Edge Computing. Moreover, a taxonomy of AI/ML-based resource management techniques for fog/edge computing has been proposed and compared the existing techniques based on the proposed taxonomy. Finally, open challenges and promising future research directions have been identified and discussed in the area of AI/ML-based fog/edge computing. Copyright © 2022, The Authors. This paper presents the definition, use, and evaluation of intelligent management frameworks for global cooperation. The research work brings new concepts and ideas to design new management models and artificial intelligence solutions in sustainable environments. An intelligent management framework is a flexible and efficient vertical association of models, architectures, and processes. It is a mixed (architectural and methodological) association of services and procedures across IT departments of global organizations. The paper presents a general top-down approach to design these frameworks for global, cooperative models of intelligence. The approach includes five levels of abstraction and three refinement techniques. These elements are used to design an evaluation case study with global services and process-oriented cooperation for current sustainable targets in education. In our future work, we will implement these management solutions for government organizations currently involved with digital transformations.

Design, monitoring, and testing of microservices systems: The Practitioners’ perspective

Context: Microservices Architecture (MSA) has received significant attention in the software industry. However, little empirical evidence exists on design, monitoring, and testing of microservices systems. Objective: This research aims to gain a deep understanding of how microservices systems are designed, monitored, and tested in the industry. Method: A mixed-methods study was conducted with 106 survey responses and 6 interviews from microservices practitioners. Results: The main findings are: (1) a combination of domain-driven design and business capability is the most used strategy to decompose an application into microservices, (2) over half of the participants used architecture evaluation and architecture implementation when designing microservices systems, (3) API gateway and Backend for frontend patterns are the most used MSA patterns, (4) resource usage and load balancing as monitoring metrics, log management and exception tracking as monitoring practices are widely used, (5) unit and end-to-end testing are the most used testing strategies, and (6) the complexity of microservices systems poses challenges for their design, monitoring, and testing, for which there are no dedicated solutions. Conclusions: Our findings reveal that more research is needed to (1) deal with microservices complexity at the design level, (2) handle security in microservices systems, and (3) address the monitoring and testing challenges through dedicated solutions. © 2021, CC BY.

Efficient feature selection analysis for accuracy malware classification

Android is designed for mobile devices and its open-source software. The growth and popularity of android platform are high compared to another platform. Due to its glory, the number of malware has been increasing exponentially. Android system used a permission mechanism to allow users and developers to manage their access to private information, system resources, and data storage required by Android applications (apps). It became an advantage to an attacker to violent the data. This paper proposes a novel framework for Android malware detection. Our framework used three major methods for effective feature representation on malware detection and used this method to classify malware and benign. The result demonstrates that the Random forest is with 23 features is more accurate detection than the other machine learning algorithm.

Since its first appearance in December 2019, Covid-19 has become a wide field of scientific research. Starting from biology to bioinformatic solutions, Artificial Intelligence has contributed in turn as a powerful tool for tracking and predicting the outbreak of Covid-19 using different types of datasets. Chest X-ray images are widely used in computer vision applications and Time series datasets are used for predicting the spread of the novel coronavirus. Graph analytics is a recent field of study that links the mathematical definition and operations of a graph to its application in computer science as a complex data structure, this combination has played a critical role in making graph-based applications present in different fields. One of the most powerful graph analytics is community detection which is an intelligent and unsupervised grouping of a set of graph structured data using the similarity between them. The aim of this work is to highlight the importance of graph-based algorithms in tracking Covid-19 using time series datasets, our work will also focus on Spectral Clustering (SC) as a community detection approach to extract clusters from the input datasets. Further applications are needed in order to validate the proposed theoretical approach.

The issues of modelling software agents in collaborative systems present some problems and difficulties caused by the diversity of tasks and the procedures attached to them. Consequently, such diversity poses a critical challenge to implement scheduled tasks. In this paper, we propose collaborative human-agent system in which a software agent collaborates and cooperates with its human counterpart in several job positions of an organization. The goal of the GNA approach is to improve collaboration between humans when performing tasks within a workflow process. The GNA is built based on the concept of a node which comprises of a human, agents, and their shared functions. This concept espouses the notion that agents could be deployed to assist humans in many common workflow processes and to handle mundane tasks. Furthermore, a multi-agent system is advocated as an application or platform for managing distributed data. Specifically, this paper describes a conceptual design of a generic approach based on the notion of nodes to construct a Generic Nodal Abstraction (GNA) approach that is deployable as a modeling and simulation platform for organizational processes. © 2019 Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.
