Internet of Things enabled Intra-Vehicular Network (IVN) refers to the network where large number of sensors are connected with each other for sharing the vehicle's status information in order to develop a smart vehicular system. The number of sensor nodes in the vehicle has increased significantly due to the increasing vehicular applications. The phenomenon of congestion poses a problem in the IVN where the traffic load and number of sensors are increased. This problem can be resolved by mitigating the limitation of the existing Media Access Control (MAC) protocols. In this paper, we address this issue and proposed a MAC strategy for solving this problem in this network. Furthermore, we discuss the design of IVN scenario and the performance is evaluated in terms of end-to-end delay. The simulation results reveal the effectiveness of our proposal.

Automated security systems are a useful addition for today's home where safety is essential. Vision-based security systems have the greater advantages over the traditional security systems such as using the lock, observing by the security guard, using alarm signal etc. This paper proposed an integrated dual-level vision-based home security system, which consists of two subsystems - a) movement detection and b) hand verification system. The primary movement detection technique is used to detect any movement first and the system verifies the authorized person for any secured place. It will check the threshold value where if the threshold level exceeds and the verification flag is off, the alarm will be triggered. Otherwise, if verification flag is on, it means the person is authorized and movement detection will be turned off for this person. On an event of a failure in the primary system, the secondary hand geometry verification module can act as a reliable backup to detect authorized person in a restricted area. Several experiment results have shown good performance and feasible implementation in both cases.

Channel interference and node mobility cause significant performance degradation to wireless networks. In multi-channel multi-flow mobile cognitive ad hoc networks, it becomes even worse due to both unexpected primary user activities and potential interference among multiple flows. In this paper, we propose a Joint Routing and Channel Assignment (JRCA) approach based on delay prediction. Firstly, it formulates the JRCA problem with the objective of delay minimization. Next, a delay prediction model is proposed based on the channel collision probability. Then, a heuristic algorithm joints routing and channel assignment is designed to solve the JRCA problem. the JRCA algorithm can find out the path with minimal end-to-end (e2e) delay. NS2-based simulation results demonstrate that the JRCA approach significantly outperforms related proposals in terms of average e2e delay.

Entanglement, one of the central mysteries of quantum mechanics, plays an essential role in numerous tasks of quantum information science. A natural question of both theoretical and experimental importance is whether universal entanglement detection can be accomplished without full state tomography. In this Letter, we prove a no-go theorem that rules out this possibility for nonadaptive schemes that employ single-copy measurements only. We also examine a previously implemented experiment [H. Park et al., Phys. Rev. Lett. 105, 230404 (2010)], which claimed to detect entanglement of two-qubit states via adaptive single-copy measurements without full state tomography. In contrast, our simulation and experiment both support the opposite conclusion that the protocol, indeed, leads to full state tomography, which supplements our no-go theorem. These results reveal a fundamental limit of single-copy measurements in entanglement detection and provide a general framework of the detection of other interesting properties of quantum states, such as the positivity of partial transpose and the k-symmetric extendibility.

Robust sliding mode control of general time-varying delay stochastic systems with structural uncertainties

This paper presents a new robust sliding mode control （SMC） method with well-developed theoretical proof for general uncertain time-varying delay stochastic systems with structural uncertainties and the Brownian noise （Wiener process）. The key features of the proposed method are to apply singular value decomposition （SVD） to all structural uncertainties and to introduce adjustable parameters for control design along with the SMC method. It leads to a less-conservative condition for robust stability and a new robust controller for the general uncertain stochastic systems via linear matrix inequality （LMI） forms. The system states are able to reach the SMC switching surface as guaranteed in probability 1. Furthermore, it is theoretically proved that the proposed method with the SVD and adjustable parameters is less conservatism than the method without the SVD. The paper is mainly to provide all strict theoretical proofs for the method and results.

This paper proposes two algorithms adopted in a prototype network architecture, for optimal selection of multimedia content delivery methods, as well as balanced delivery load, by exploiting a novel resource prediction engine. The proposed architecture exploits both algorithms for the prediction of future multimedia services demands, by providing the ability to keep optimal the distribution of the streaming data, among Content Delivery Networks, cloud-based providers and Home Media Gateways. In addition, the prediction of the upcoming fluctuations of the network, provides the ability to the proposed network architecture, achieving optimized Quality of Service (QoS) and Quality of Experience (QoE) for the end users. Both algorithms were evaluated to establish their efficiency, towards effectively predicting future network traffic demands. The experimental results validated their performance and indicated fields for further research and experimentation.

Most existing routing algorithms assume wireless nodes use maximal transmission power or set up the power at the beginning of the network configuration. These static approaches potentially introduce signal interference that can be mitigated through power control. In this paper, we propose a Joint Channel assignment, stable Routing and adaptive Power control (JCRP) approach that dynamically controls the transmission power to avoid the channel interference for improving the channel utility. Our JCRP allows a node to control its transmission power to a certain value at which it has a longest channel conflict-free time. Besides, we propose a novel routing metric integrated selecting stability (ISS) to measure the quality of links, which considers node mobility and channel interference, together with the dynamical power control. The simulation results demonstrate that our JCRP significantly outperforms the related routing algorithms in terms of network throughput.

With the advancement of technology in communication network, it facilitated digital medical images transmitted to healthcare professional via internal network or public network (e.g. Internet). Consequently, digital medical image security has become an important issue when images and their pertinent patient information are exposed to the threats, such as tampering of images to include false data which may lead to wrong diagnosis and treatment. Medical image distortion is not to be tolerated for diagnosis purposes, thus a reversible watermarking is introduced. This paper reviews the works that have done on the reversible watermarking scheme with tamper localization and recovery capability. © 2014 IEEE.
