Data preparation is crucial in every machine learning approach, particularly when applied to detecting claims in the automotive industry. The challenge of managing highdimensional feature spaces and imbalanced data becomes even more pronounced with the proliferation of IoT devices, which generate vast amounts of data over time. Machine learning models trained on such imbalanced datasets often yield unreliable and inaccurate predictions. Thus, addressing these issues during the data pre-processing phase is critical. In this paper, we introduce a novel two-dimensional optimization (TDO) strategy to tackle the problem of imbalanced data in fault detection, specifically in the context of IoT-enhanced automotive systems. We leverage a heuristic optimization technique known as the Genetic Algorithm to simultaneously reduce both the number of data point tuples and the feature space. Additionally, we evaluate the effectiveness of two-dimensional reduction using Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) and Whale Optimization algorithms. Our empirical results, derived from data collected from thousands of IoT-equipped vehicles, demonstrate the promise of our proposed methods. © 2024 IEEE.

Microorganisms may cause illness when they enter the body, multiply, and spread to other parts. The rapid spread of COVID-19 to neighboring countries is examined in this research. Anticipating a positive COVID-19 occurrence helps in determining risks and creating countermeasures. As a result, developing robust mathematical models with small error margins for predictions is crucial. Based on these findings, a combined method of evaluating confirmed cases of COVID-19 with universal immunization is recommended. First, the best hyperparameter values of the RBF kernel-based LSSVM (least square support vector machine) were determined using the most recent Evolutionary Mating Algorithm (EMA). After that, LSSVM will complete the task of prediction. This hybrid method has been utilized for time series forecasting in Malaysia since the country's immunization program against COVID-19 got underway. We evaluate our results next to those of well-known methodologies in nature-inspired metaheuristics. © 2023 IEEE.

Behavior Trees and State Machines in Robotics Applications

Autonomous robots combine skills to form increasingly complex behaviors, called missions. While skills are often programmed at a relatively low abstraction level, their coordination is architecturally separated and often expressed in higher-level languages or frameworks. State machines have been the go-to language to model behavior for decades, but recently, behavior trees have gained attention among roboticists. Originally designed to model autonomous actors in computer games, behavior trees offer an extensible tree-based representation of missions and are claimed to support modular design and code reuse. Although several implementations of behavior trees are in use, little is known about their usage and scope in the real world. How do concepts offered by behavior trees relate to traditional languages, such as state machines? How are concepts in behavior trees and state machines used in actual applications? This paper is a study of the key language concepts in behavior trees as realized in domain-specific languages (DSLs), internal and external DSLs offered as libraries, and their use in open-source robotic applications supported by the Robot Operating System (ROS). We analyze behavior-tree DSLs and compare them to the standard language for behavior models in robotics: state machines. We identify DSLs for both behavior-modeling languages, and we analyze five in-depth. We mine open-source repositories for robotic applications that use the analyzed DSLs and analyze their usage. We identify similarities between behavior trees and state machines in terms of language design and the concepts offered to accommodate the needs of the robotics domain. We observed that the usage of behavior-tree DSLs in open-source projects is increasing rapidly. We observed similar usage patterns at model structure and at code reuse in the behavior-tree and state-machine models within the mined open-source projects. Entity Alignment is the task of seeking entities with the same semantics from distinct knowledge graphs (KGs). Researchers have recently proposed Graph Convolutional Network (GCN) based approaches to achieve this task. Most existing GCN-based methods embed all the relations into an identical value, making the underlying loss on the diversity of the relationship. Relation semantics of entities and relation structure have benefitted the entity alignment task in the monolingual scenarios. This paper proposes a Relation-Aware Graph Convolutional Network with a Differential Adjacency Matrix (A-REA), which exploits the relation-specific semantics and structural information of entities in the KGs to promote the entity representations. The experiments on DBP-15K and DWY-100K datasets, including three cross-lingual subsets and two cross-knowledge graph sub-datasets, reveal that our approach leads to advance in entity alignment task in both the cross-lingual and cross-knowledge KGs. Discriminating the relation shows the effective signal for entity alignment, especially for the schema heterogeneity of different KGs. © 2023 IEEE.

The automatic detection of noisy channels in surface Electromyogram(sEMG)signals,at the time of recording,is very critical in making a noise-free EMG *** an EMG signal contaminated by high-level noise is recorded,then it will be useless and can’t be used for any healthcare *** this research work,a new machine learning-based paradigm is proposed to automate the detection of low-level and high-level noises occurring in different channels of high density and multi-channel sEMG signals.A modiﬁed version of mel fre-quency cepstral coefﬁcients(mMFCC)is proposed for the extraction of features from sEMG channels along with other statistical parameters i-e complexity coef-ﬁcient,hurst exponent,and root mean *** state-of-the-art classiﬁers such as Support Vector Machine(SVM),Ensemble Bagged Trees,Ensemble Sub-space Discriminant,and Logistic Regression are used to automatically identify an EMG channel either bad or good based on these extracted ***-based analyses of these classiﬁers have also been considered based on total classi-ﬁcation accuracy,prediction speed(observations/sec),and processing *** proposed method is tested on 320 simulated EMG channels as well as 640 experi-mental EMG *** is used as our main classiﬁer for the detection of noisy channels which gives a total classiﬁcation accuracy of 99.4%for simulated EMG channels whereas accuracy of 98.9%is achieved for experimental EMG channels.

Advancing Smart Sensor Networks and Carbon-Based Biosensors Through Artificial Intelligence: A Deep Learning Approach to Optoelectronic Device Innovation

This research proposes a novel artificial decision-marking framework suitable for modern smart sensor networks and carbon-based biosensor systems which deals with uncertainty and the peculiarity of the data. To achieve the goals, the approach relies on the optoelectronic properties of carbon nanomaterials and already combines AI and deep learning. This raises the level of sensing, real-time data fusion, and adaptive decision-making within the environment to unprecedented levels. To enhance sensor evaluation in sensor manufacturing, we take a step further and implement Dombi Interval Valued Intuitionistic Fuzzy Sets (D-IVIFs) and work with Dombi Interval Valued Intuitionistic Fuzzy Dombi Bonferroni Mean (D-IVIFDBM) for hierarchical decision-making. Moreover, two Multi-Attribute Group Decision Making (MAGDM) methods IVIFWDBM and IVIFWDGBM are developed for expert evaluation aggregation in selection tasks of different criteria to enhance selection accuracy. These experiments did demonstrate improvements in decision accuracy as well as better overall performance than conventional models of comparison. The numerical experiments showed that these methods are more effective than traditional MAGDM models. Introducing such an advanced decision framework in deep learning systems enables improved adaptability, security, and resilience in next-generation sensor networks and biosensor devices. The new paradigm enables real-time signal interpretation and adaptive learning and provides effective solutions in harsh environments where severe fluctuations are common. This study assists in addressing the discrepancy between conceptual decision models and actual physical achievements in smart sensing, which will foster the development of more sophisticated and efficient optoelectronic devices. © 2013 IEEE.

Background: This paper examines the use of augmented reality (AR) as a concept-association tool in schools, with the aim of enhancing primary school students' learning outcomes and engagement. Conflicting findings exist in previous studies regarding the cognitive load of AR-enriched learning, with some reporting reduced load and others indicating increased demand and poorer performance. Understanding these implications is essential for effectively leveraging AR in education. The study offers a fresh perspective on the potential of AR technology in improving educational experiences. Objectives: The primary goal of this research was to evaluate the effectiveness of an AR-assisted concept-association strategy for improving essential knowledge acquisition and skills outcomes, increasing cognitive load, and increasing self-efficacy and learning motivation among primary school students. Methods: A quasi-experimental design with a control group was employed to investigate the effectiveness of the intervention. Results and Conclusions: The results demonstrate that the implementation of the AR-assisted concept-association strategy effectively enhanced essential knowledge acquisition and skills outcomes, increased cognitive load, and increased self-efficacy and learning motivation among primary school students. These findings highlight the potential of AR technology to improve the learning experience and engagement of primary school students. The study contributes to the existing literature on the effectiveness of AR technology in education, suggesting future research directions. Ultimately, it offers a practical solution for improving the learning experience by presenting a new approach for teaching using AR technology. © 2024 John Wiley & Sons Ltd.

This paper presents a development of a novel path planning algorithm, called Generalized Laser simulator (GLS), for solving the mobilerobot path planning problem in a two-dimensional map with the presence ofconstraints. This approach gives the possibility to find the path for a wheelmobile robot considering some constraints during the robot movement inboth known and unknown environments. The feasible path is determinedbetween the start and goal positions by generating wave of points in alldirection towards the goal point with adhering to constraints. In simulation,the proposed method has been tested in several working environments withdifferent degrees of complexity. The results demonstrated that the proposedmethod is able to generate efficiently an optimal collision-free path. Moreover,the performance of the proposed method was compared with the A-star andlaser simulator (LS) algorithms in terms of path length, computational timeand path smoothness. The results revealed that the proposed method hasshortest path length, less computational time and the best smooth path. Asan average, GLS is faster than A∗ and LS by 7.8 and 5.5 times, respectivelyand presents a path shorter than A∗ and LS by 1.2 and 1.5 times. In orderto verify the performance of the developed method in dealing with constraints, an experimental study was carried out using a Wheeled Mobile Robot(WMR) platform in labs and roads. The experimental work investigates acomplete autonomous WMR path planning in the lab and road environmentsusing a live video streaming. Local maps were built using data from a live video streaming with real-time image processing to detect segments of theanalogous-road in lab or real-road environments. The study shows that theproposed method is able to generate shortest path and best smooth trajectoryfrom start to goal points in comparison with laser simulator.

More than a year has passed since reports of ChatGPT-3.5’s capability to pass exams sent shockwaves through education circles. These initial concerns led to a multi-institutional and multi-disciplinary study to assess the performance of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) against assessment tasks used across 10 engineering subjects, showcasing the capability of GenAI. Assessment types included online quiz, numerical, oral, visual, programming and writing (experimentation, project, reflection and critical thinking, and research). Twelve months later, the study was repeated using new and updated tools ChatGPT-4, Copilot, Gemini, SciSpace and Wolfram. The updated study investigated the performance and capability differences, identifying the best tool for each assessment type. The findings show that increased performance and features can only heighten academic integrity concerns. While cheating concerns are central, opportunities to integrate GenAI to enhance teaching and learning are possible. While each GenAI tool had specific strengths and weaknesses, ChatGPT-4 was well-rounded. A GenAI Assessment Security and Opportunity Matrix is presented to provide the community practical guidance on managing assessment integrity risks and integration opportunities to enhance learning. © 2024 The Author(s). To secure web applications from Man-In-The-Middle(MITM)and phishing attacks is a challenging task *** this purpose,authen-tication protocol plays a vital role in web communication which securely transfers data from one party to *** authentication works via OpenID,Kerberos,password authentication protocols,***,there are still some limitations present in the reported security *** this paper,the presented anticipated strategy secures both Web-based attacks by leveraging encoded emails and a novel password form pattern *** proposed OpenID-based encrypted Email’s Authentication,Authorization,and Accounting(EAAA)protocol ensure security by relying on the email authenticity and a Special Secret Encrypted Alphanumeric String(SSEAS).This string is deployed on both the relying party and the email server,which is unique and *** first authentication,OpenID Uniform Resource Locator(URL)identity,is performed on the identity provider side.A second authentication is carried out by the hidden Email’s server side and receives a third authentication *** Email’s third SSEAS authentication link manages on the relying party(RP).Compared to existing cryptographic single sign-on protocols,the EAAA protocol ensures that an OpenID URL’s identity is secured from MITM and phishing *** study manages two attacks such as MITM and phishing attacks and gives 339 ms response time which is higher than the already reported methods,such as Single Sign-On(SSO)and *** experimental sites were examined by 72 information technology(IT)specialists,who found that 88.89%of respondents successfully validated the user authorization provided to them via *** proposed EAAA protocol minimizes the higher-level risk of MITM and phishing attacks in an OpenID-based atmosphere.
