The complexity of the entire process of supply chain management (SCM) is quite cumbersome and traditional way of handling it is devoid of proper authentication and security and very often suffers from human errors in dealing with flaws in quality control process of SCM. While it may have started with shipment tracking, the outcome of using IoT on supply chains has spread to every link in the chain. For instance, manufacturers are employing Internet-enabled sensors in production to find product faults, resulting in higher-quality production runs. Physical Unclonable Function (PUF) is a defense countermeasure that exploits the exclusive, unrepeatable features of hardware components to generate distinct cryptographic keys or identifiers, typically for a semiconductor device like an Internet of Things (IoT) device. The distinctive proof of identity of IoT devices in the supply chain is employed by means of PUFs as inviolable IDs. Blockchain, the distributed, immutable ledger, on the other hand is the disruptive technology that provides higher security as compared to traditional centralized systems. The integration of PUF and blockchain proves to be quite interesting while handling the above issues of authentication. A smart contract on the blockchain is a software code that executes spontaneously as and when the conditions of the contract or agreement are satisfied. Hence after authentication process the results are fed to blockchain smart contract for the final validation. This paper presents a novel permissioned blockchain smart contract-based lightweight authentication scheme for SCM using PUF of IoT known as SPUFChain. Informal and formal security analysis (using AVISPA and BAN logic) of the proposed framework show its efficiency to resist several threat scenarios like man-in-the middle, non-repudiation, impersonation, replay attacks and many other security features as compared to other related schemes. In this study, we enhance information security practices by leveraging the CatBoost classifier within the challenging domain of network intrusion detection. Building upon the foundation of machine learning techniques in identifying FTP and SSH brute force attacks, our investigation introduces a refined CatBoost classifier approach by addressing the escalating sophistication of these attacks, our research meticulously analyzes the comprehensive CSE-CIC-IDS2018 and CICIDS2017 datasets. Through detailed feature selection, hyperparameter optimization, and class balancing with techniques like SMOTENC, our CatBoost model achieves high accuracy, with a rate of 99.9964% and low false alarm rate. Notably, the model demonstrates robust performance metrics, including a high F1 score over iterations, minimal loss, and a near-perfect Matthew's correlation coefficient (MCC), signifying its precision and reliability. A distinctive aspect of our study is the extensive application of SHAP (SHapley Additive exPlanations) values, providing deep insights into the model's decision-making process. These include Mean Absolute SHAP values and SHAP Value Distributions, which elucidate the significant impact and contribution of individual features to the model's predictions. Moreover, the model exhibits impressive computational efficiency, maintaining a high average processing speed of 5 million samples per second, that underscores its suitability for real-time security applications. These findings underscore the effectiveness of the CatBoost classifier in accurately identifying complex network intrusion patterns. Our investigation underscores the practical benefits of applying the CatBoost classifier in information security, contributing to the ongoing enhancement of cyber defense mechanisms with improved efficiency and interpretability.

The Internet of Drones (IoD) extends the capabilities of unmanned aerial vehicles, enabling them to participate in a connected network. In IoD infrastructure, drones communicate not only among themselves but also with users and a control center. This interconnected communication framework holds promise for various applications, from collaborative decision-making to real-time data exchange. However, the expansion of communication in IoD also introduces new challenges, particularly in terms of security, privacy and authentication. Unfortunately, the current authentication protocols are inadequate in offering robust security features against various attacks in the IoD environment. To address these security issues and limitations, we proposed a secure protocol for the IoD environment using chaotic maps and hash functions. In addition, we also employed a physically unclonable function in the development of the proposed protocol. We assess the security of the protocol through both informal and formal security analysis. The formal security analysis is conducted through a widely used random or real (RoR) model. The informal analysis shows the rigorous security features against various attacks, such as masquerading, anonymity violation, and physical cloning attacks. Moreover, we compare the performance of the devised protocol with similar existing protocols across important performance parameters, such as communication overhead, computation overhead, and security features. The devised protocol provides a 67.86% and 17.80% reduction in computation and communication overheads, respectively, as compared to related protocols. The analysis demonstrates the proposed protocol's capacity to support secure communication in the IoD environment and satisfy desirable security attributes. © 2014 IEEE.

This research presents an enhanced version of the technology Acceptance Model (TAM), which integrates usability and learning objectives to evaluate the effect of adopting virtual laboratories on student performance. Data from 97 participants, gathered via a survey, was used to examine the correlation between perceived usefulness (PU), perceived ease of use (PEOU), and intention to use (IU) concerning their experiences and outcomes with a simulation-based virtual laboratory. A custom questionnaire was designed to assess TAM components, namely PU, PEOU, and IU, specifically in the context of virtual laboratory learning environments. Findings indicate that the integration of specific laboratory learning objectives fosters the creation of a more credible and authentic simulation tool. This, in turn, optimizes the learning process and enhances students' learning outcomes. The refined TAM model provides valuable insights into the determinants of user acceptance of virtual laboratories and offers practical guidance for educators and instructional designers to construct more effective and efficient virtual laboratory environments in educational contexts. © 2023 IEEE.

The transition to electric transportation demands efficient and cost-effective powertrains. Optimizing energy use is crucial for extending range and reducing expenses. However, comparing inverter and motor efficiency based on inverter topologies is challenging due to biased methodologies that favor certain designs over others. This document introduces a novel optimization-based approach for enhancing partial load efficiency and minimizing chip area of single and dual traction inverters, indicating potential energy savings and cost reduction. Recent publications of both industry [1], [2] and academia [3] underscore the importance of these design goals achieved by either novel inverter topologies or enhanced control methods. Two promising topologies with the inherent capability of partial load optimization are evaluated regarding chip area and system efficiency to find the most suitable concept for future electric vehicle power trains. © 2024 IEEE.

This study aims at designing Map Reduce and federated learning-based asthma prediction model for adolescent to provide answers to the problems associated with the existing asthma prediction model for adolescent. This study leveraged on two diverse datasets: the Nigerian Hospital Asthma dataset and the National Survey of Children Health dataset for benchmarking purposes. Symmetrical uncertainty and normalization interaction were employed for feature selection. The model was trained using Federated Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology Enabler (FATE) and complemented with XGBoost model and one central server for federated algorithm averaging. The study was implemented with python programming language on Google Collaboratory environment. The results of the analysis showed considerable high accuracy of 0.98, precision (0.98%), recall (0.98%) and F1-socre (0.99%) for the asthmatic class and precision of 0.98%, recall of 0.98%, as well as F1-score of 0.99% for the non-asthmatic class. The implemented model was benchmark with the existing asthma prediction models in the literature. Simulated attack was also performed using implemented model with and without Map Reduce. This study concludes that the researchers' model has the potentials to outperform some of the existing machine learning models on asthma prediction in adolescent, thereby facilitating collaborative sharing of the model with other hospitals, protect the patient information from leakage, meeting the criteria of healthcare data protection regulation as well as beneficial for enhancing the security of the dataset. © 2024 IEEE.

Image deformation technology is an important technology in computer graphics image processing, which can satisfy people's requirements for visual and sensory effects, and its research results have been widely used in film and television animation, game development, virtual reality and other fields. Mesh-based deformation technology has been a research emphasis in image deformation technology, through the virtual model for the mesh division, the use of mesh nodes control, to achieve the deformation of the model. However, the more complex the model is, the greater number of mesh control nodes, which greatly increases the complexity of mesh deformation. In this paper, the deformation of 3D virtual character model is studied based on the method of image topological deformation. In order to solve the problem of large number of network nodes in 3D model, the Laplace deformation method is further combined to reduce the number of control nodes in the network. The experimental results show that the deformation can be effectively completed using a small number of control nodes by using the laplace coordinate system for adjacent topological mesh node control. © 2022 IEEE.

Hypertension is one of the most common diseases in Jordan. It is one of the main reasons of death among Jordanian adult citizens. Worldwide, nearly 13% of all deaths are due to Hypertension with nearly 8 million deaths yearly. Hence, this research is interested in the early prediction of this disease among Jordanian people. To achieve this main objective, Machine Learning (ML) is utilized through a large number of classification models and considering five well-known evaluation metrics. These classification models have been trained on a primary dataset that has been collected for the purpose of the research. The results revealed that Random Forest, Random Committee, and MultilayerPerceptron are the best classification models to handle the task of the early prediction of Hypertension in Jordan. © 2024 IEEE.

It is quite common for medical drugs and prescriptions to be misidentified by hospitals and after drugs are being dispensed to the patients. Misidentification of medical drugs is more common among elderly and visually impaired patients. In hospital organizations, the leading medical error is adverse drug events. Another most common issue patients face is keeping track of medical lab reports. Our proposed mobile medical assistant system uses image processing to identify drugs with or without packaging, identifying prescription and medical lab reports. Furthermore, the mobile application will identify the trends of medical lab reports and predict next month's results of the medical lab report of the patient using machine learning. © 2022 IEEE.

The paper discusses the integration and use of generative artificial intelligence technologies in education. Generative AI, such as OpenAI, in particular the GPT model, has fundamentally changed the way humans interact with machines. Advanced technologies in the field of generative AI in education are mostly used to personalize learning experiences by dynamically customizing learning materials according to the needs of learners, thus enabling the improvement of outcomes. This article explores the use of generative AI tools with the aim of assessing how useful students perceive these tools to be. The findings show mixed receptivity from users, highlighting the critical balance in using innovative AI capabilities through AI. © 2024 IEEE.
