Among the most prominent causes for visual impairment, especially among older adults, is cataract. As per the World Health Organisation (WHO), there are 2.2 billion individuals globally are estimated to be blind or possess an eyesight problem. One of the most identified and important causes of this is cataracts. Cataracts should be identified and treated as soon as possible to avoid blindness. Ophthalmologists use an expensive slit lamp to diagnose cataracts in regions with few medical facilities. Consequently, the issue is that a lack of skilled ophthalmologists may delay the identification of cataracts, for which medical treatment is unavoidable. Medical image analysis based on artificial intelligence provides a rapid and precise diagnosis in modern healthcare. We utilized deep learning models based on transfer learning, namely VGG19, and ResNet-50, to diagnose cataracts using fundus images and enhance classification accuracy. The performance metric for the model is accuracy;the highest achieved accuracy was 98%. © 2023 IEEE.

We performed machine learning using spectrum analysis and power spectra of electroencephalograms (EEGs) of patients with mild cognitive impairment (MCI). Spectrum analysis was performed on the EEGs of MCI patients and healthy individuals, and the power spectrum values of the two groups were calculated and compared. Based on the power spectrum values of the theta and alpha bands, models for discriminating MCI patients were created using a support vector machine (SVM), and their accuracies were compared. In the spectrum analysis, the theta band showed significantly higher power spectrum values in the MCI group. In the comparison of the accuracies of SVM models, the model using the theta band showed higher values in parameters, such as accuracy rate. These results suggested that the power spectrum values of the theta band are useful for discriminating MCI patients. © 2024 IEEE.

Algorithmic Cluster Expansions for Quantum Problems

We establish a general framework for developing approximation algorithms for a class of counting problems. Our framework is based on the cluster expansion of the abstract polymer model formalism of Kotecký and Preiss. We apply our framework to obtain efficient algorithms for (1) approximating probability amplitudes of a class of quantum circuits close to the identity, (2) approximating expectation values of a class of quantum circuits with operators close to the identity, (3) approximating partition functions of a class of quantum spin systems at high temperature, and (4) approximating thermal expectation values of a class of quantum spin systems at high temperature with positive-semidefinite operators. Further, we obtain hardness of approximation results for approximating probability amplitudes of quantum circuits and partition functions of quantum spin systems. This establishes a computational complexity transition for these problems and shows that our algorithmic conditions are optimal under complexity-theoretic assumptions. Finally, we show that our algorithmic condition is almost optimal for expectation values and optimal for thermal expectation values in the sense of zero freeness.

The trend towards smart greenhouses stems from various factors,including a lack of agricultural land area owing to population concentration and housing construction on agricultural land,as well as water *** study proposes building a full farming adaptation model that depends on current sensor readings and available datasets from different agricultural research *** proposed model uses a one-dimensional convolutional neural network(CNN)deep learning model to control the growth of strategic crops,including cucumber,pepper,tomato,and *** proposed model uses the Internet of Things(IoT)to collect data on agricultural operations and then uses this data to control and monitor these operations in real *** helps to ensure that crops are getting the right amount of fertilizer,water,light,and temperature,which can lead to improved yields and a reduced risk of crop *** dataset is based on data collected from expert farmers,the photovoltaic construction process,agricultural engineers,and research *** experimental results showed that the precision,recall,F1-measures,and accuracy of the one-dimensional CNN for the tested dataset were approximately 97.3%,98.2%,97.25%,and 97.56%,*** new smart greenhouse automation system was also evaluated on four crops with a high turnover *** system has been found to be highly effective in terms of crop productivity,temperature management and water conservation.

There are many different types of exergaming, but one of the most engaging one is the one with virtual reality. This type of gaming allows you to immerse yourself in a completely different world, and it can be a lot of fun. Due to Covid-19 pandemic many people resort to their usual exercise activities and opt to do it at home yet only to find a monotonous and boring fitness routine. VR Real Run is aimed to give a solution on how to have fun and to get fit at the same time. By using the latest and front runner in the VR headsets products, the Oculus Quest 2, we developed an exergame that require user to run in place and jump to play. It also features high score to motivate users in perform better in the next session. A black box test has been well performed and a usability test was came out with a 79 SUS score which translate the application as 'good' therefore its usability is acceptable. © 2022 IEEE.

Internet of things (IoT) is a promising network that combines various information sensing devices with the Internet to realize the interconnection of pervasive things. Security is a pivotal issue to ensure widespread adoption of the IoT. To ensure the security of data transmission, in this paper, we construct a heterogeneous online and offline signcryption from a wireless sensor network (WSN) to an Internet server. In our construction, the WSN is in certificateless cryptosystem (CLC) which does not involve public key certificate management problem in public key infrastructure (PKI) and key escrow problem in identity based cryptosystem (IBC), while the server is in IBC which avoids public key certificate management problem. For signcryption process, the proposed scheme is split into two steps: offline step and online step. In the former step, the time-consuming calculations are completed, but do not involve the transmitted message. In the latter step, only some lightweight calculations are involved, but message must be available. Confidentiality, authentication, non-repudiation, and integrity can be achieved in a logical single step. In addition, an elaborate performance analysis demonstrates that our proposed scheme has advantages in terms of computational cost and private key size, offline storage, as well as communication overhead. © 2022, The Authors. We present a software library for the commutation of Pauli operators through quantum Clifford circuits, which is called Pauli tracking. Tracking Pauli operators allows one to reduce the number of Pauli gates that must be executed on quantum hardware. This is relevant for measurement-based quantum computing and for error-corrected circuits that are implemented through Clifford circuits. Furthermore, we investigate the problem of qubit scheduling in measurement-based quantum computing and how Pauli tracking can be used to capture the constraints on the order of measurements. With the advent of 5G and 6G technologies and the growing ubiquity of the Internet, the Mobile Agent (MA) paradigm is increasingly seen as a promising alternative to the conventional client-server model. MAs, which are software entities capable of moving and processing data across different systems, offer potential efficiencies in data management. However, their operation in dynamic and mobile environments can lead to challenges, such as incomplete or delayed tasks. This study addresses these issues by focusing on reducing the relocation time of MAs. A numerical procedure and a streamlining strategy were developed to expedite the transfer of an agent from the source to the target hub. Utilizing the itinerary design pattern and the Ant Colony Optimization (ACO) algorithm, implemented via the Java Agent Development Framework (JADE), this study sought the most efficient path for the MA. The proposed algorithm demonstrated a significant improvement, selecting the optimal path in just 271.511 seconds. This performance represents a substantial enhancement over previous approaches using the master-slave design pattern with either the Genetic Algorithm (GA) or the Node Compression Algorithm (NCA). The implications of this improvement are far-reaching, potentially enhancing the efficiency and reliability of data management systems in a variety of applications. © 2025 by the authors of this article. The discovery of Road Traffic Accident (RTA) patterns is vital to formulate mitigation strategies based on the characteristics of RTA. Various studies have applied association rule mining for RTA pattern discovery. However, limited research has conducted a comparative analysis of RTA patterns in different regions. This work is necessary to identify the similarities and differences of RTA characteristics between different regions, especially the developed and developing countries with different RTA trends in fatality rates. This work explored the application of association rule mining (FP-Growth algorithm) to discover and compare the RTA patterns for developed and developing countries. The Orange Data Mining software is used to discover RTA patterns for Ethiopia (12,317 samples) and the UK (United Kingdom) (1,048,575 samples), representing developing and developed countries. Eventually, findings showed similarities and differences in RTA patterns between Ethiopia and the UK. Road characteristics and conditions are the common factors contributing to RTA severity levels, while other crucial factors include the light condition and speed limit. In conclusion, the discovery of RTA patterns in different regions is beneficial to assist in formulating strategies to reduce the risk of RTA. Future work is necessary to discover the RTA patterns from different perspectives, such as seasonal or periodical variations of RTA patterns.

This research focuses on image classification, grouping images based on shared characteristics. The study aims to identify the highest-potential category within various fields, from high to low potential. By understanding existing potential, researchers can inform targeted strategies for future development. The methodology combines Logistic Regression in Orange Data Mining to enhance classification accuracy. Hierarchical Clustering is used to analyze 7,777 image results. Findings reveal that Tourism (C3) has the most potential, followed by Culinary (C2) and Culture (C4), while Handcrafts (C1) exhibit the least potential.
