The PSP-Expert Visualization Agent (EVA) is designed for software engineers specifically to introduce the agent-oriented concept, as well as to automate all the processes and fields involved in PSP. Currently, some developers of PSP automated tools include the agent's element in their system that focuses on sensor-based tracking of lines of code. However, none of them fully utilize this element for other purposes or provide the agent with a personal assistant for the software engineer. This sensor-based tracking is limited to Eclipse environments such as Java and is not compatible with the use of web platforms as a PSP automated tool. The PSP-EVA system is required to perform several tasks. There are three agents that exist within the system: Interface Agent (IA), TaskAgent (TA), and SearchAgent (SA). By incorporating the multi-software agent in this automation system, PSP-EVA is able to have ready-access to applications and also to provide a visual representation of performance to the user. Additionally, evaluation of software engineers and team performance can be easily derived and evaluated statistically.

An important issue faced today in any on-line system is to determine the userspsila states of emotions regarding the situation. It is possible to identify userpsilas emotions while interacting face to face by observing their conditions, and assign a suitable level of tasks to the user. But it is very much difficult to identify the userpsilas state of emotion when he or she is not in front of teacher when communicating is in progress. Kansei engineering is used in this research, to achieve a solution to this problem. Learnerpsilas knowledge level of the lesson and emotional level are considered as key parameters to measure the status of the learner. These measurements are used as key points to enhance the experience of the learner, who is interacting with the E-Learning system. The E-Learning system supports in customized ways to the learner, to improve knowledge and manage emotions effectively.

Learning Object (LO) is one of the main research topics in the E-Learning community in the recent years, and most researchers pay attention to the issue of Learning Object Reusability. The most obvious motivation is the economic interest of reusing learning material instead of repeatedly authoring it. Reusability requires the LO to be in a fine-grain form because raw media elements are often much easier to reuse than aggregate assemblies. In other words, as the LO size decreases (lower granularity), its potential for reuse increases. Therefore, when designing learning objects, reusability must be considered as a key consideration. This paper shows how we adapted and applied some of the metrics from the software engineering field for the purpose of measuring reusability of learning objects.

software testing is one of the most important techniques used to assure the quality of Web Services at present. Test-data generation is an important topic in Web Services testing. The quality of test data will influence the efficiency and cost when testing Web Services. Based on the contract-based mutation testing technique, this paper presents a method of automated test-data generation for Web Services. First, according to the description information and contracts in WSDL documents of Web Services, initial test data are generated automatically by the random method. Then the test data are selected using contract mutation testing. This method can generate a test suite meeting a certain contract mutation score, which indicates the quality and efficiency of testing. Finally, we have developed a prototype on the *** platform, and carried out some experiments. The results have shown that the proposed method is effective in automated test-data generation for Web Services.

Motion detection and extraction for multi-view video (MVV) is one of the key technologies for MVV applications, and it has become a hot in recent years. In this paper, a new method that will use semantic information and movement information based on depth maps for motion detection is pro-posed. First, a sequence of consecutive depth images is converted into a sequence of consecutive temporal-to-spatial slices in the horizontal and vertical directions. In each one temporal-to-spatial slice, semantic information and motion information are both included, the background region forms a vertical line pattern, and a moving object creates an irregular, non-vertical structure. Second, to binarize the temporal-to-spatial slices are binarized by a dynamic threshold. Then we reconstruct the converted slices in the horizontal and vertical directions into temporal image masks, and reserve the common part of two corresponding masks. At last, by post-processing the reconstructed images, moving object masks can be obtained. Experiment results show that the proposed method exhibits a good performance for motion detection.

Block-based discrete cosine transform (BDCT) is an important tool in the image and video compression. Blocking artifacts caused by BDCT may be noticeable in the decoded image under low bit-rate conditions. Measuring blocking artifacts is of great significance in the evaluation of image and video image. To ensure reliability of the model outputs, a new no-reference blocking artifacts metric is proposed in this paper, based on human vision sensitivity by the research on a model of luminance and texture masking. Furthermore, blocking artifacts are measured with different weighting coefficient in flat regions and edge regions, respectively. Compared with Wang's blind measurement of blocking artifacts, experimental results illustrate that the proposed metric has better consistency to the visual perception, and it can reflect the image quality more effectively.

A view synthesis-oriented depth map coding algorithm is proposed in this paper. Depth map is classified into inner motion regions, background subtracted with edges and edge regions by using edge detection of current depth map and the frame difference between corresponding color images. Then macroblocks in different regions are encoded with different RDO schemes so as to speed up the encoding process while keep the quality of reconstructed depth map. Experimental results show that the proposed method not only improves the encoding speed significantly, but also saves bitrate of depth map sequence while maintaining high quality of synthesized virtual view images.

The need for stricter security, availability of sophisticated algorithms and improved hardware at cheaper price, are the driving forces for increasing popularity of biometric authentication. Machine authentication from face images or fingerprints at the entrance of a building or at bank-teller is getting more and more common. The popularity of using face image features for authentication is due to its ease of use. But its success depends on proper orientation and illumination. Facial features change with the angle of orientation, and even a genuine person would be rejected by the machine due to improper orientation of the face towards the camera. In this work, we proposed a multi-layer perceptron based face identification technique which is robust to orientation of the face image under similar illumination condition. Training data of facial features against orientation angle features is used to train a Multi-Layer Perceptron (MLP). It is then used for interpolation of facial features at different angles. Experiments were conducted with two types of face image identifying features, using PCA and ICA. A good interpolation property could be obtained by the trained MLP, and a zero equal error rate (EER) could be achieved.

This paper proposes improving the usability of HTA (hierarchical task analysis) chart through redefinition. The plans in the existing HTA chart (HTAe) are replaced with symbols giving a proposed representation of HTA chart (HTAs). An empirical experiment was done on both types of chart, the HTAe and the HTAs, to see whether there is an improvement on the usability of HTA chart. An analysis was done on the score given for each task done correctly in interpreting the chart. An improvement was recorded. Lastly, a further redefinition of HTA chart was done based on results of the experiment carried out.

Compared to traditional multi-view systems, client-oriented multi-view video system could significantly simplify the complexity at the client since part of disparity estimation is left to the sever. This paper proposes a fast disparity refinement algorithm for the client-oriented multi-view video system. Firstly, the coarse disparity map is generated by adopting 8times8 block based disparity estimation based on smoothness restriction at the server, and the 8times8 block based disparity map is transmitted to the client. Then according to the spatial correlation of disparity vectors and disparity discontinuity at the boundary area of objects, pixel-wise disparity map is obtained with a fast disparity refinement algorithm. Experimental results show that, compared with the traditional block-matching based algorithm at the client, the disparity refinement algorithms spend no more than 2% time to generate a pixel-wise disparity map, moreover, the disparity maps are more smoother within the objects. Compared with the previous refinement algorithm, the proposed algorithm not only improves the quality of the reconstructed right view images, but also saves about 20% time for generating of pixel-wise disparity map.
