After an era of huge propagation within the field of mobile communications, digitalization has been spreading during the latest years at an accelerating speed to automotive technology and business. Following the developments experienced earlier in the mobile communications branch, open solutions and platforms are emerging in the automotive industries, challenging the traditional proprietary systems. Like in mobile communications, open platforms enable development of a wide variety of novel applications and systems that speed up the digitalization of the automotive and traffic ecosystems and offer the developers new attractive business opportunities. One of such open approaches is the Eclipse Kuksa framework developed in a consortium of European research institutions and automotive industries. In this study, we explored how the Kuksa framework could be used as a technology basis for an automotive data system combining in-vehicle functionality to cloud-based services. The study was carried out as a part of the SMAD research project of the University of Oulu aiming at an intelligent moving test platform for research of autonomous vehicles built on top of a Toyota Rav4 hybrid car. Our study covered subsystems of the Kuksa framework, the in-vehicle subsystem, cloud subsystems and the data communications between them. Our results indicate that the Kuksa framework is a feasible basis for the development of open, intelligent automotive data systems, though with a considerable learning needs. The results and experiences of our study provide besides additional knowledge for our continuing research on automotive software, also new, valuable contribution to the Eclipse Kuksa community and the practitioners planning to deploy open approaches in their automotive software development. As urban areas grapple with unprecedented challenges stemming from population growth and climate change, the emergence of urban digital twins offers a promising solution. This paper presents a case study focusing on Sydney's urban digital twin, a virtual replica integrating diverse real-time and historical data, including weather, crime, emissions, and traffic. Through advanced visualization and data analysis techniques, the study explores some applications of this digital twin in urban sustainability, such as spatial ranking of suburbs and automatic identification of correlations between variables. Additionally, the research delves into predictive modeling, employing machine learning to forecast traffic crash risks using environmental data, showcasing the potential for proactive interventions. Indoor positioning systems are receiving much attention due to their practical applications in our daily lives. WiFi Fingerprinting is the technique that is commonly used for indoor positioning due to its utilization of the WiFi infrastructure which is ubiquitously deployed in modern buildings. However, this technique suffers from the computational burden when determining the user's position in big areas that consist of lots of fingerprints and reference points. To reduce the search space as well as computing time, the clustering algorithm can be applied. In this paper, we evaluate the efficacy of k-means clustering in the WiFi Fingerprinting-based positioning system. Moreover, k-means clustering with outlier removal is applied in several public datasets, in which the WiFi data was collected in different environmental conditions, to show how much the clustering algorithm can help in reducing the computing time as well as improving the positioning accuracy. From the experimental results, compared to popular deterministic-based algorithms, the clustering algorithm can significantly reduce the computing time by up to 79.07%. Nevertheless, it cannot surpass the positioning accuracy of the compared algorithms. © 2023 ACM.

The ATT&CK MITRE framework serves as an expansive repository of adversary tactics, techniques, and procedures. Given the sheer volume of these intricate attack patterns, the conventional manual navigation method proves to be time-intensive and less efficient for security analysts. As a remedy, there arises a compelling necessity to present the rich content encapsulated within the ATT&CK MITRE repository through interactive visualizations. In this paper ATT&CKViz an interactive web-based cyber-attack patterns visualization tool is presented that aims to empower security analysts with the ability to effortlessly explore the repository from diverse angles, which facilitates deep insights into cyber threats. The aim is to understand cyber threat efficiently with a timely response. The empirical evaluations depict that effectiveness and user-friendliness of ATT&CKViz.

Parkinson's disease (PD) profoundly impacts millions in Sri Lanka, emphasizing the importance of early detection for better patient outcomes. We introduce “NeuraTrace PD,” an innovative application for early PD screening, combining brain MRI, hand-drawn image analysis, facial expression assessment, and voice analysis. For brain MRI analysis, we employed a Graph Convolutional Network (GCN), achieving an impressive accuracy of 91% and identifying distinct graph connectivity patterns using graph theory. We also use a deep Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) to reach 90% accuracy in analyzing hand-drawn images, while optimizing image resolution for efficiency and information retention. Facial expression analysis is a vital component, leveraging CNN and Constrained Local Models (CLM) to accurately extract Facial Action Units (FAUs), which contribute to a remarkable 95% accuracy using the XGBoost machine learning model. We introduce a Machine Learning (ML) algorithm and advanced signal processing to enhance voice feature analysis, offering a thorough understanding and classification of PD patients. It reaches 99% accuracy. In summary, our approach holds significant promise for advancing early PD diagnosis, ultimately improving the quality of life for those affected by this challenging condition.

After adopting 5G technology, businesses and academia have started working on sixth-generation wireless networking (6G) technologies. Mobile communications options are expected to expand in areas where previous generations could not do so. 6G networks are anticipated to be constructed using various diverse technologies. These encompass diverse cutting-edge advancements, such as distributed ledger systems like blockchain, visible light communications (VLC), post-quantum cryptography, edge computing, molecular communication, THz, and other advances. These advances necessitate a reassessment of previous security strategies from a security perspective. In the future, networks must adhere to stricter criteria for authentication, encryption, access control, connectivity, and detection of harmful activities. Ensuring privacy and dependability necessitates the implementation of supplementary security protocols. The essay explores the primary concerns and challenges related to the security of the 6G network. This paper describes the improvements in security in communications from 1G through 6G. This paper divides security in the sixth generation into three layers: physical, connection, and service. Each layer-by-layer discusses the standard technologies and security issues for each technology proposed in each sixth-generation security layer. All proposed solutions for each of the three layers are discussed in Sixth Generation Security. It also reviews all proposed solutions for each layer, indicating the proposed solution and its limitations. © The Author(s) 2025.

Test automation is crucial for agile software projects to enable frequent delivery of working software with cost and time and minimal bugs. However, selecting the right automated testing tool is considered challenging due to the wide range of such existing tools. Additionally, the challenges occur clearly due to several issues such as the programming code language, the categorization of the developed system, and the tester’s knowledge and skills. This paper aims to address this gap by proposing an evaluation framework for comparing and classifying the existing automated testing tools used in agile projects. The framework is developed based on an extensive literature review of existing agile testing methodologies and common commercial automation testing techniques. The key criteria for tool evaluation are identified to cover the main testing objective aspects such as test design support, testing interfaces, reporting capabilities, etc. These criteria are considered the core methodology for this study used to analyze and compare the popular open-source and commercial tools. The proposed evaluation framework provides agile practitioners with guidelines to assist in selecting the appropriate tools based on their specific project needs such as budget, timelines, and technical expertise. This study is considered a comparative evaluation of existing agile testing tools to highlight their key strengths and limitations. The findings of this study categorized the testing tools based on the interface, code, design, and report features. This research contributes to assisting the project developer and tester in selecting suitable tools for the adoption of automated testing tools in their agile software projects. It also identifies the direction for future work, such as integrations with modern development methodologies and technologies.

Domain-driven design is commonly used with microservices architecture to develop complex microservices-based software systems. Layered, tree-based microservices architectures have recently been used to tame the complexity of these systems. However, there exists a knowledge gap in terms of the exact nature of this architecture style and how it is constructed. In this paper, we propose a nested, multitree microservices architecture (TMSA) to bridge this gap. We precisely define the TMSA metamodel in UML/OCL. A service is composed of a nested service tree. Service structure reuse is enabled by unidirected edges that connect nodes in distinct service trees. The multitree structure provides a scaffolding on which to precisely define service resiliency and TMSA model evolution. We use OCL and UML communication diagram to model three essential resiliency patterns in TMSA. Further, we define TMSA model evolution in terms of two microservice reconfiguration operations. To ease software construction, we define an annotation-based DSL, named TASL, to specify the TMSA model and a semi-automatic procedure which takes a TASL specification as input and constructs a software as the output. We demonstrate TMSA with an implementation in a Java software framework and evaluate it with two case studies and performance and resilience testing. © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

This paper focuses on how to use continuous integration (CI) and continuous Delivery (CD) methodology in DevOps to reduce the developer-operator gap. It also, shows how CI can be a CD bridge. The paper review DevOps and analyze strategies, methodologies, issues, and processes identified for the adoption and implementation of continuing practices. The result of our case studies shows the benefits, and advantages of using CI/CD in software development. Furthermore, this paper presents DevOps as a new model for reducing the gaps between development (Dev) and operations (ops). The Azure tool is used as DevOps CI/CD for the empowerment of continuous delivery of software to enable rapid and frequent releases, this enables rapid responses to changing customer requirements and thus it may be a decisive competitive advantage. This paper also measures the effectiveness of using CI/CD for reducing the time and effort in software development. We also, focus on the DevOps initiative to benefit of CI/CD and to effect of enhances flexibility in delivering the program with the expected quality on time to determine the areas that bridge the gap between Continuous Integration for Continuous Delivery. The methodology used in this paper by exploring and tracking a project developed by the company using the Azure software development tool. The experiment includes a project performance and evaluation.

The healthcare industry is not immune to the trend of adopting new IT systems, and this includes hospitals and doctors' offices. To store a patient's medical history (including diagnoses and treatments), medical history (including diagnostic pictures), and financial data (including demographics and insurance details), a computerised database known as an "Electronic Health Record" (EHR) is used. Because medical records are typically private and must be shielded from prying eyes, ensuring their secure transfer is a top priority for healthcare systems. Electronic health records (EHRs) are used in the proposed study to ensure the security of all sent medical data, including the Chest X-ray MedPix images. This article describes a blockchain-based solution that patients can use to keep all their data in one secure location. This system was built with the Ganache tool on the Ethereum network, making use of Solidity and *** as well as other languages, tools, and approaches. In this study, a systematic method is described wherein blockchain smart contracts are used to record patient information and execute tasks in a distributed environment. After a smart contract has been deployed, all transactional communication occurs within its encrypted confines, protecting both the parties and their personal information. As an added bonus, the validated and broadcasted changes intended by the transaction can be checked. To ensure that government agencies have quick access to protected records, there is a cryptocurrency wallet (MetaMask) that stores the information in an encrypted, decentralised manner. Both patients and physicians can use the wallet to log in. In addition, the system will manage and protect all of the doctor and patient's information.
