The quick advancement of healthcare systems necessitates robust and efficient network security keys to defend sensitive patient records and guarantee uninterrupted service delivery. The current IDS has many challenges, such as a high false positive rate, poor accuracy of detection, slow response to threats, and inability to scale well. This paper proposes an efficient and real-time intrusion detection system (IDS) using advanced machine learning techniques within a software-defined networking (SDN) framework specifically tailored for healthcare systems. The proposed architecture implements a Machine Learning (ML) model that combines the SVM and KNN to better identify malicious activities. Full sets of detection and mitigation capabilities are implemented to address different types of traffic in the network with the least interference. Through the different evaluation measures, the efficiency of the proposed model is assured. Network performance is determined by success rate queries, packet losses in each domain path, and the CPU being used by the system. Responsiveness is measured through delay metrics grounded on end-to-end delay, hop-to-hop packet delay, latency rate, and propagation delay. Moreover, model accuracy fidelity is reviewed via precision assessment, alpha (α) affecting the accuracy of the model, and confusion matrix with different techniques with the proposed hybrid SVM-KNN model. Last of all, a comparison of the security of the models in question strengthens the argument in favor of the proposed model. More specifically, flow and network topology diagrams are included to show how integration may be accomplished in linkage or merger with existing healthcare networks. The results also present a 30% overall advancement in detection and mitigation by presenting the hybrid SVM-KNN model to overcome other traditional models. Applications that support multimedia data such as medical pictures and videos, video broadcasting, and secure video conferencing consume vast quantities of information that require large numbers of servers to provide services for the many client users who access them. Cloud-based sensitive data becomes increasingly important for the respective users to be kept confidential without infringing confidentiality, integrity, and availability. We propose a framework based on the OpenStack cloud-computing platform for multimedia data security. A prototype framework with a helper tool EncSwift is implemented, which allows stringent data access control and applying the data-at-rest Over-Encryption approach. The implementation is evaluated for computation of cryptography operations, cost of communications, and update policy consequences for the framework. With OpenStack Swift's open source and modular design, our multimedia data management and management framework is well suited to protecting and managing clouds' multimedia with low computational costs as shown in the experimental results.

Alignment of the sequences is useful in many biological and non-biological domains. Needleman-Wunsch algorithm is deemed as the basic algorithm for finding the optimal alignment between two sequences. It is a dynamic programming based algorithm which has quadratic time and space requirement. Nonetheless, as a result of increase in the capacity of sequence databases in recent years, sizes of sequences may contain billions of characters for computationally intensive problems. Comparison of such large sequences using sequential methods is avoided as it takes unacceptable amount of time for producing the results. In this paper, we proposed a parallel variation of the Needleman-Wunsch algorithm by reformulating the dependencies in the prevalent dynamic programming solution. Proof of correctness of the proposed algorithm is established. It evinces certain characteristics such as it allows arbitrary linear scoring scheme when comparing the sequences which is important to obtain peerless alignment. Moreover, it ensures load balancing among the computational units and maximizes the utilization of resources. It is compared with various state-of-the-art approaches. Experimental results using the real DNA and user trajectories sequences over graphic processing units (GPUs) suggest that the proposed algorithm is notably superior to the existing approaches that allow arbitrary linear scoring schemes. It achieved the GCUPs up to 14.06 and maximum speedup of 48.18x compared to the sequential implementation. © 2022, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Automotive simulation can potentially compensate for a lack of training data in computer vision applications. However, there has been little to no image quality evaluation of automotive simulation and the impact of optical degradations on simulation is little explored. In this work, we investigate Virtual KITTI and the impact of applying variations of Gaussian blur on image sharpness. Furthermore, we consider object detection, a common computer vision application on three different state-of-the-art models, thus allowing us to characterize the relationship between object detection and sharpness. It was found that while image sharpness (MTF50) degrades from an average of 0.245cy/px to approximately 0.119cy/px;object detection performance stays largely robust within 0.58%(Faster RCNN), 1.45%(YOLOF) and 1.93%(DETR) across all respective held-out test sets. © This is an open access article published by the IET under the Creative Commons Attribution License (http://***/licenses/by/3.0/)

This study presents the effects of Tx./Rx. pointing errors on the performance efficiency of local area optical wireless communication networks. The received signal power and max Q factor are measured in the presence of vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers (VCSELs) bias current and modulation current at maximum propagation distance for the wireless network. The signal is enhanced with increasing of bias and modulation peak currents of the VCSEL device. The optimum received power and max. Q factor is also examined at Tx./Rx. the pointing error of 0.1 mrad and propagation reach of 5 km at available bit rates transmission of 10 Gb/s. © 2021 Walter de Gruyter GmbH, Berlin/Boston.

In the digital age, the authenticity of photographs is increasingly questioned due to the rise of sophisticated AI and human manipulation techniques. This paper presents the development of an AI-assisted system designed to aid users in identifying and verifying the genuineness of photos. Unlike fully automated solutions, our approach emphasizes user empowerment, providing tools to enhance human expertise in photo authentication. The system integrates advanced algorithms to detect potential manipulations and localize regions of interest, directing users’ attention to specific areas that warrant closer examination. Users can conduct more efficient and effective authenticity checks without scrutinizing the entire image by focusing on these targeted regions. Our goal is to augment, not replace, the critical role of human judgment in verifying photo authenticity. The system’s design and implementation are discussed, along with case studies demonstrating its practical application in various scenarios. This research aims to contribute to the growing field of digital forensics by providing a robust, user-friendly tool that bridges the gap between AI capabilities and human expertise in photo verification.

Continual learning (CL) is essential for enabling models to adapt to dynamic data streams, with the primary challenge being the mitigation of catastrophic forgetting of previously acquired knowledge. Recent advancements have highlighted the potential of prompt-based CL methodologies, which have shown promise in preserving the knowledge embedded within pre-trained models, thereby addressing catastrophic forgetting. However, these methodologies are constrained by their focus on learning visual prompts for individual tasks, resulting in suboptimal generalization to unseen categories. To enhance the model’s ability to retain knowledge from prior tasks while simultaneously improving generalization to new tasks, we introduce a novel, lightweight framework for CL termed Adapter-Enhanced Semantic Prompting (AESP). This framework leverages class semantic information to augment visual features, thereby establishing relational links among different categories. This not only fortifies the retention of prior knowledge but also facilitates adaptation to new tasks. To seamlessly integrate visual and semantic information, we have developed a lightweight Adapter-enhanced Vision Transformer (ViT) architecture specifically designed for feature adaptation. Furthermore, we have implemented a robust Query-Key matching strategy to select the optimal task prompt pair, thereby enhancing the accuracy of final predictions. Comprehensive experiments conducted across three benchmark continual learning datasets demonstrate that our proposed framework outperforms several state-of-the-art approaches, showcasing its efficacy and robustness. Both Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) and Transformers have shown great success in semantic segmentation tasks. Efforts have been made to integrate CNNs with Transformer models to capture both local and global context interactions. However, there is still room for enhancement, particularly when considering constraints on computational resources. In this paper, we introduce HAFormer, a model that combines the hierarchical features extraction ability of CNNs with the global dependency modeling capability of Transformers to tackle lightweight semantic segmentation challenges. Specifically, we design a Hierarchy-Aware Pixel-Excitation (HAPE) module for adaptive multi-scale local feature extraction. During the global perception modeling, we devise an Efficient Transformer (ET) module streamlining the quadratic calculations associated with traditional Transformers. Moreover, a correlation-weighted Fusion (cwF) module selectively merges diverse feature representations, significantly enhancing predictive accuracy. HAFormer achieves high performance with minimal computational overhead and compact model size, achieving 74.2% mIoU on Cityscapes and 71.1% mIoU on CamVid test datasets, with frame rates of 105FPS and 118FPS on a single 2080Ti GPU. Various deep learning techniques have been employed to diagnose dental caries using X-ray images. In this study, we utilized deep learning models, including Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) and transfer learning models such as Visual Geometry Group (VGG16), VGG19, ResNet50, and Inception V3, to identify dental caries in periapical radiographs. The traditional CNN model comprises three sets of 2D convolutional layers, followed by an activation layer, a max-pooling layer, a flatten layer, one dense layer, another activation layer, dropout, another dense layer, and a final activation layer. For the VGG models, ResNet50, and Inception V3, the top convolutional layers were frozen to prevent retraining of the model, with only the last layers trained to produce the required output. The accuracy achieved by CNN, VGG16, VGG19, ResNet50, and Inception V3 was 90%, 96%, 73%, 70%, and 73%, respectively. VGG16 exhibited the highest accuracy among the models. Hyperparameters were carefully selected using a grid search approach, and the results were validated using the Shuffle-Split-Cross (SSC) validation method. These findings underscore the effectiveness of transfer learning in analyzing medical images, particularly in the diagnosis of dental caries. © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.
