In this paper, design and modeling of an all-optical 2×1 multiplexer based on 2D photonic crystals and artificial neural networks (ANNs) are presented. The proposed structure aims to maximize the difference between the output powers in logical states, which is critical for enhancing the system ability to distinguish between these states. In this study, an ANN model is employed to accurately predict the normalized output power of the designed photonic crystal multiplexer, providing a time-efficient alternative to conventional simulation methods for analyzing multiplexer behavior across various logical states. The results demonstrate significant improvements in signal separation and overall performance compared to previous works. Additionally, a detailed comparison of the normalized output power for different logic states is provided, highlighting the advantages of the proposed design. © 2025, Advanced Electromagnetics. With the rapid growth of video data, video summarization is a promising approach to shorten a lengthy video into a compact version. Although supervised summarization approaches have achieved state-of-the-art performance, they require frame-level annotated labels. Such an annotation process is time-consuming and tedious. In this article, we propose a novel deep summarization framework named Deep Semantic and Attentive Network for Video Summarization (DSAVS) that can select the most semantically representative summary by minimizing the distance between video representation and text representation without any frame-level labels. Another challenge associated with video summarization tasks mainly originates from the difficulty of considering temporal information over a long time. Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) performs well for temporal dependencies modeling but does not work well with long video clips. Therefore, we introduce a self-attention mechanism into our summarization framework to capture the long-range temporal dependencies among the frames. Extensive experiments on two popular benchmark datasets, i.e., SumMe and TVSum, show that our proposed framework outperforms other state-of-the-art unsupervised approaches and even most supervised methods. © 2022 Association for Computing Machinery.

the growth of IoT devices presents significant security challenges due to their diverse and dynamic environments. To address this, we developed HAMI, a novel intrusion detection system. Our method leverages the GIFS algorithm, which combines feature rankings from ensemble models with genetic algorithms to uncover subtle inter-feature correlations, enhancing detection accuracy. Additionally, we introduce GridSearchSMOTE, a technique that optimizes data balancing by evaluating various SMOTE variants through a meticulous grid search, ensuring optimal performance for each dataset. Empirical evaluations of HAMI show superior accuracy, achieving a 99% detection rate and reduced false positives, outperforming existing systems. These results underscore HAMI's potential to significantly improve IoT network security by exploring its scalability and real-time detection capabilities. © 2025 IEEE.

Early detection of colorectal polyps is crucial for preventing colorectal cancer. Although endoscopy is the current standard diagnostic method, it still faces challenges in terms of accuracy, efficiency, and patient comfort. To address these issues, this paper proposes a colorectal polyp detection model named DM-Net. This model utilizes the Dual Feature Integration Block (DFIB) to integrate channel and spatial features, enhancing feature extraction efficiency. Additionally, the model incorporates the Multi-Layer Path Aggregation Network (MLPAN) to handle the multi-scale variations of polyps. Experimental results demon-strate that DM-Net significantly outperforms existing methods in terms of accuracy and efficiency, offering high clinical applica-bility. © 2024 IEEE.

We present a lightweight and efficient semisupervised video object segmentation network based on the space-time memory *** some extent,our method solves the two difficulties encountered in traditional video object segmentation:one is that the single frame calculation time is too long,and the other is that the current frame’s segmentation should use more information from past *** algorithm uses a global context(GC)module to achieve highperformance,real-time *** GC module can effectively integrate multi-frame image information without increased memory and can process each frame in real ***,the prediction mask of the previous frame is helpful for the segmentation of the current frame,so we input it into a spatial constraint module(SCM),which constrains the areas of segments in the current *** SCM effectively alleviates mismatching of similar targets yet consumes few additional *** added a refinement module to the decoder to improve boundary *** model achieves state-of-the-art results on various datasets,scoring 80.1%on YouTube-VOS 2018 and a J&F score of 78.0%on DAVIS 2017,while taking 0.05 s per frame on the DAVIS 2016 validation dataset.

In this paper is presented implementation of a lightweight supervisory control and data acquisition system for remote test stations as a part of a larger test house in the automotive industry. It is necessary to allow remote set up and monitoring of the test stations, which means defining the structure of a system with numerous test stations as endpoints. The test stations are meant to be virtual machines but can be both virtual and physical machines. A communication protocol must be used that enables this within the organization's network, regardless of actual distance and location. The parameters of the test stations to be monitored can be defined according to the needs and purpose. Even when creating your own tool, this function is not unique, i.e. on one test station parameters of operating system resources such as memory usage can be monitored, while on another test station logged-in users or running programs, reported system errors and others must be monitored. Data storage is one of the mandatory functions of this system. This process allows viewing data throughout history and more detailed analysis of events. There are numerous benefits that can be drawn and used from the data stored in the database. It is necessary to pay attention to the data stored as well as the scope and retention throughout history. The correct and secure setup of a database is one of the prerequisites for any serious system that processes data. Appropriate views should be created for users involved in the data monitoring process using all the elements mentioned so far. Creating a visually acceptable and easy-To-use interface that serves the main purpose is the final presentation of the entire system to users. A complete system leads to higher productivity, profitability and better organization of the company. It also allows project managers to better plan the use and occupancy of test stations. Automatic person identification (API) using human biometrics is essential and highly demanded compared to traditional API methods, where a person is automatically identified using his/her distinct characteristics including speech, fingerprint, iris, handwritten signatures, and others. The fusion of more than one human biometric produces bimodal and multimodal API systems that normally outperform single modality systems. This paper presents our work towards fusing speech and handwritten signatures for developing a bimodal API system, where fusion was conducted at the decision level due to the differences in the type and format of the features extracted. A data set is created that contains recordings of usernames and handwritten signatures of 100 persons (50 males and 50 females), where each person recorded his/her username 30 times and provided his/her handwritten signature 30 times. Consequently, a total of 3000 utterances and 3000 handwritten signatures were collected. The speech API used Mel-Frequency Cepstral Coefficients (MFCC) technique for features extraction and Vector Quantization (VQ) for features training and classification. On the other hand, the handwritten signatures API used global features for reflecting the structure of the hand signature image such as image area, pure height, pure width and signature height and the Multi-Layer Perceptron (MLP) architecture of Artificial Neural Network for features training and classification. Once the best matches for both the speech and the handwritten signatures API are produced, the fusion process takes place at decision level. It computes the difference between the two best matches for each modality and selects the modality of the maximum difference. Based on our experimental results, the bimodal API obtained an average recognition rate of 96.40%, whereas the speech API and the handwritten signatures API obtained average recognition rates of 92.60% and 75.20%, respectively. Recently, there has been increasing interest in utilizing virtual reality (VR) technology in dental education and student training. VR based training can provide students with sufficient training and hands-on experience before entering the clinical setting, which in turn helps avoid risks ranging from small errors to severe consequences. However, previous research in this area is limited and none of the previous work proposed a complete, scalable framework for dental students' education and training. This paper proposes an improved virtual environment for dental training, through an adaptive learning approach, integrated with the VR environment, which is - to the best of our knowledge - the first framework proposed for this purpose. The framework consists of eight modules that aim to provide students with a holistic dental training experience, equipping them with the essential skills and confidence required for their future clinical practice. Furthermore, it aims to improve patient care and safety. In order to guarantee the effectiveness and usability of the proposed framework, a thorough evaluation will be conducted, encompassing both a system perspective, which involves assessing software metrics, as well as evaluating its usability. © 2023 IEEE.

Security is one of the key challenges in container orchestration, especially in complex environments. This paper explores the security aspects of implementing containerized applications using Docker within a Kubernetes cluster. The first part of the paper describes Docker, Kubernetes, and various ways of applying them within DevOps methodology. It then presents potential vulnerabilities during the implementation of these technologies, as well as vulnerabilities specific to Docker and Kubernetes. Subsequently, some solutions for securing a Kubernetes environment are described. © 2025 IEEE.

This paper presents an object detection and classification of the objects using Deep Learning (DL). The integration of object detection algorithms and depth camera developed is capable of providing robots, such as self developed assistive intelligent robot called 'ROSWITHA' (RObot System WITH Autonomy) with the ability to detect an object and interpret their surrounding environment. It also provides the real-world coordinates/position of the object in that environment, which helps the robot to perform some applications, such as grabbing and serving, etc. You Only Look Once (YOLO) is one of the most popular object detection algorithms which is treated as a single regression problem and is processed by a single neural network. In this work, the YOLOv5 (YOLO version 5) network is implemented on a depth camera 'RealSense' for processing object detection and estimating the position of the objects. The model is trained on reduced/filtered application-required objects (e.g. bottle and cup) from the available COCO dataset, and the training outcome alongside the performance of the overall system was evaluated. The results exhibited a satisfactory performance of the model in accurately detecting and classifying the objects with a high confidence score ranging from the least to7 2% to the highest of9 0%. The confidence score could also be adjusted by the user on the developed GUI to attain the most certain predictions. © 2024 IEEE.
