The rapid development and widespread adoption of Internet technology have significantly increased Internet traffic,highlighting the growing importance of network *** Detection Systems(IDS)are essential for safeguarding network *** address the low accuracy of existing intrusion detection models in identifying network attacks,this paper proposes an intrusion detection method based on the fusion of Spatial Attention mechanism and Residual Neural Network(SA-ResNet).Utilizing residual connections can effectively capture local features in the data;by introducing a spatial attention mechanism,the global dependency relationships of intrusion features can be extracted,enhancing the intrusion recognition model’s focus on the global features of intrusions,and effectively improving the accuracy of intrusion *** proposed model in this paper was experimentally verified on theNSL-KDD *** experimental results showthat the intrusion recognition accuracy of the intrusion detection method based on SA-ResNet has reached 99.86%,and its overall accuracy is 0.41% higher than that of traditional Convolutional Neural Network(CNN)models.

The rapid development of short video platforms poses new challenges for traditional recommendation *** systems typically depend on two types of user behavior feedback to construct user interest profiles:explicit feedback(interactive behavior),which significantly influences users’short-term interests,and implicit feedback(viewing time),which substantially affects their long-term ***,the previous model fails to distinguish between these two feedback methods,leading it to predict only the overall preferences of users based on extensive historical behavior ***,it cannot differentiate between users’long-term and shortterm interests,resulting in low accuracy in describing users’interest states and predicting the evolution of their *** paper introduces a video recommendationmodel calledCAT-MFRec(CrossAttention Transformer-Mixed Feedback Recommendation)designed to differentiate between explicit and implicit user feedback within the DIEN(Deep Interest Evolution Network)*** study emphasizes the separate learning of the two types of behavioral feedback,effectively integrating them through the cross-attention ***,it leverages the long sequence dependence capabilities of Transformer technology to accurately construct user interest profiles and predict the evolution of user *** results indicate that CAT-MF Rec significantly outperforms existing recommendation methods across various performance *** advancement offers new theoretical and practical insights for the development of video recommendations,particularly in addressing complex and dynamic user behavior patterns.

Biometric technologies have been widely adopted in various commercial products, ranging from security systems to personal devices, due to their exceptional reliability and user-friendliness. Among these, palmprint biometrics has gained increasing attention for its advantages, such as ease of use, a larger surface area, and the ability to capture more features compared to other biometric methods. A typical palmprint biometric system involves five key stages: (a) Image Acquisition, (b) Hand Segmentation, (c) Pattern Generation, (d) Feature Extraction, and (e) Verification/Identification. The overall success of the system depends on the effectiveness of each stage, with hand segmentation being crucial for identifying the most relevant features for accurate verification. This study aims to achieve high-accuracy biometric recognition by segmenting hands from images captured in uncontrolled environments with complex backgrounds. Accuracy (ACC), Intersection over Union (IoU), F1-Score, and Dice Coefficient are the four critical metrics used to assess the performance of segmentation techniques. The findings demonstrate that the U-Net + ViT and MA-Net + ResNet34 techniques outperform traditional auto-encoder methods in both quantitative performance metrics and visual analysis, leading to significantly improved hand segmentation for biometric systems. © 2024 IEEE.

The rapid growth of machine learning(ML)across fields has intensified the challenge of selecting the right algorithm for specific tasks,known as the Algorithm Selection Problem(ASP).Traditional trial-and-error methods have become impractical due to their resource *** Machine Learning(AutoML)systems automate this process,but often neglect the group structures and sparsity in meta-features,leading to inefficiencies in algorithm recommendations for classification *** paper proposes a meta-learning approach using Multivariate Sparse Group Lasso(MSGL)to address these *** method models both within-group and across-group sparsity among meta-features to manage high-dimensional data and reduce multicollinearity across eight meta-feature *** Fast Iterative Shrinkage-Thresholding Algorithm(FISTA)with adaptive restart efficiently solves the non-smooth optimization *** validation on 145 classification datasets with 17 classification algorithms shows that our meta-learning method outperforms four state-of-the-art approaches,achieving 77.18%classification accuracy,86.07%recommendation accuracy and 88.83%normalized discounted cumulative gain.

This study is meant to research the evolution of intrusion detection and network monitoring within computer, cloud-based systems, IIoT, and mobile environments. The source has outlined the novel technologies in IDS, from 'Fast Learning Network' to hybrid classifiers aiming at protecting cloud computing. The findings highlight innovation IDS technologies that provide flexible and peculiar solutions to ward off potential cyber threats. In addition, it presented with the use of Nagios, NConf, the state of the art in network traffic monitoring, and deep learning as tools for advanced management and network protection. Besides, the research also reviewed concepts of Big Data Analytics and Federated Learning in bettering direct integration and anomaly detection in IIoT. A good comparison of the two would show that recent technological advancements are much needed for network efficiency and its cybersecurity. Based on the findings, the scope of networked system security develops dynamically amid current challenges. © 2024 IEEE.

Computational narrative is a complex field. While the computational processing of narratives has been tackled from different perspectives, the literature has focused on the analysis of a main plot, even if it is composed of different narrative sub-plots. However, modern narrative often involves additional threads that complement, justify or enhance the main narrative. This is commonly observed in narrative in video games. In this paper, we present a computational engine that can automatically differentiate between primary and secondary stories. This differentiation is based on the identification of a number of features that are believed to be key factors in the classification. We have analyzed a number of stories by using a simple game prototype with several stories, and a prototype assessment of the effectiveness of the system with human players has been carried out. Results indicate the hypothesized features can certainly be used to identify or produce secondary stories linked to a main plot. © 2023 CEUR-WS. All rights reserved.

End-user feedback in social media platforms, particularly in the app stores, is increasing exponentially with each passing day. software researchers and vendors started to mine end-user feedback by proposing text analytics methods and tools to extract useful information for software evolution and maintenance. In addition, research shows that positive feedback and high-star app ratings attract more users and increase downloads. However, it emerged in the fake review market, where software vendors started incorporating fake reviews against their corresponding applications to improve overall software ratings. For this purpose, we conducted an exploratory study to understand how end-users register and write fake reviews in the Google Play Store. We curated a research data set containing 68,000 end-user comments from the Google Play Store and a fake review generator, that is, the Testimonial generator (TG). Its purpose is to understand fake reviews on these platforms and identify the common patterns potential end-users and professionals use to report fake reviews by critically analyzing the end-user feedback. We conducted a detailed survey at the University of Science and Technology Bannu, Pakistan, to identify the intelligence and accuracy of crowd-users in manually identifying fake reviews. In addition, we developed a ground truth to be compared with the results obtained from the automated machine and deep learning (M&DL) classifier experiment. In the survey, 512 end-users participated and recorded their responses in identifying fake reviews. Finally, various M&DL classifiers are employed to classify and identify end-user reviews into real and fake to automate the process. Unlike humans, the M&DL classifiers performed well in automatically classifying reviews into real and fake by obtaining much higher accuracy, precision, recall, and f-measures. Brain tumors are abnormal cell growths that occur in various parts of the brain, and the accurate classification of these tumors plays a critical role in determining treatment methods. Classification and diagnosis of brain tumors based on artificial intelligence and deep learning models have been made possible due to advances in medical image processing technologies. For instance, such technologies facilitate quick detection of tumors by health experts thereby improving early diagnosis rate and hence enhancing treatment outcomes. Importantly, however, one considers improvement or breakthroughs in artificial intelligence-based classification systems as a crucial step forward towards brain tumor diagnosis as well as its treatment strategy. In this study we use Google Research's ImageNet-21k pre-trained ResNet50 model for classifying brain tumor cases. This model is a deep learning-based image classification tool and is capable of learning from large data sets. The model is specifically trained for high-resolution image recognition and is designed to achieve high accuracy rates. The results showed a classification accuracy of 99.9 percent, which is an exceptional accuracy rate for this model. This accuracy rate indicates that the model is highly effective in detecting and classifying brain tumors. High accuracy rates allow for early diagnosis of patients' diseases and, as it is often said in medicine, 'Early Diagnosis Saves Lives'. This result is one of the many proofs of how effective artificial intelligence and deep learning are in medical image analysis. © 2024 IEEE.

The use of virtual reality as a tool for professional training enables access to knowledge in a more active way. Applying it in high-risk situations training encourages finding the most effective way to share knowledge. With this objective in mind, video game tutorials as a method of learning in virtual environments are becoming increasingly popular. This study proposes a methodology in which virtual reality tutoring techniques are applied to enhance learning in training for radiation emergencies. A virtual reality experience involving a high-risk situation has been developed. In this experience two groups of professionals involved in such emergencies participated, one group were trained with a tutorial, and the other group faced the simulation without it. The results show that participants who received tutoring were able to solve the test correctly in a more effective way. © 2023 CEUR-WS. All rights reserved.
