Wireless sensor networks(WSNs)is one of the renowned ad hoc network technology that has vast varieties of applications such as in computer networks,bio-medical engineering,agriculture,industry and many *** has been used in the internet-of-things(IoTs)applications.A method for data collecting utilizing hybrid compressive sensing(CS)is developed in order to reduce the quantity of data transmission in the clustered sensor network and balance the network *** cluster head nodes are chosen first from each temporary cluster that is closest to the cluster centroid of the nodes,and then the cluster heads are selected in order based on the distance between the determined cluster head node and the undetermined candidate cluster head ***,each ordinary node joins the cluster that is nearest to *** greedy CS is used to compress data transmission for nodes whose data transmission volume is greater than the threshold in a data transmission tree with the Sink node as the root node and linking all cluster head *** simulation results demonstrate that when the compression ratio is set to ten,the data transfer volume is reduced by a factor of *** compared to clustering and SPT without CS,it is reduced by 75%and 65%,*** compared to SPT with Hybrid CS and Clustering with hybrid CS,it is reduced by 35%and 20%,*** and SPT without CS are compared in terms of node data transfer volume standard *** with Hybrid CS and clustering with Hybrid CS were both reduced by 62%and 80%,*** compared to SPT with hybrid CS and clustering with hybrid CS,the latter two were reduced by 41%and 19%,respectively.

The utilisation of ML (Machine Learning) techniques in the detection of the VP (Voice Pathology) has recently gained a lot of consideration. However, these efforts still have several drawbacks such as: I) the accuracy rates of most previous works are still not promising and need more improvement. II) The majority of the previous works have concentrated on the task of VP detection only and disregarded the task of VP classification. III) Most of the previous works have been assessed based on a single voice data only like the vowel /a/, and the other vowels (/i/, and /u/) and sentences were disregarded. IV) The majority of the previous works performance were assessed utilising a limited evaluation metrics. Recently, one of the utmost effective ML techniques is FLN (Fast Learning Network), it is an efficient technique for data classification. However, the FLN classifier has not been implemented to the problem of VP detection and classification. Therefore, this research proposes the FLN classifier with MFCC (Mel-Frequency Cepstral Coefficient) features in order to enhance the accuracy of the VP detection and classification. The FLN classifier has the ability to a) solve both binary and multiclass classification issues, b) eliminate overfitting, as well as c) operate akin to a NN (Neural Network) structure while employing the principles of a kernel-based SVM (Support Vector Machine). In this research, the SVD (Saarbrucken Voice Database) dataset was utilised to assess the FLN classifier performance in the VP detection and classification. The assessment of the proposed FLN classifier was conducted based on two phases: the first phase includes all the voice samples of the SVD dataset with the sentences and vowels (i.e., /a/, /i/, and /u/) which are pronounced in neutral, high, and low pitches. While the second phase uses the voice samples of the utmost common 3 pathology types (i.e., paralysis, polyp, and cyst) based on the vowel /a/ that is pronounced in neutral pitch. The

This paper presents a decentralized optimization approach using the Alternating Direction Method of Multipliers (ADMM), specifically tailored to integrate energy storage within Panama’s power grid. The ADMM facilitates distributed problem solving, which is crucial for integrating diverse and spatially distributed energy resources, including renewables and storage units. A representative model of the power grid of the Republic of Panama was optimized considering generation, demand, the national grid, and the use of an energy storage system. The results demonstrate that strategic use of energy storage not only stabilizes the power supply by compensating for the intermittency of renewable energy but also reduces overall energy costs. The detailed impact of the cost of storage activities on the model’s results is elucidated, illustrating the importance of accurately pricing storage activities in achieving cost-effective operational strategies.

A deep convolutional visual encoding model of neuronal responses in the LGN

The Lateral Geniculate Nucleus (LGN) represents one of the major processing sites along the visual pathway. Despite its crucial role in processing visual information and its utility as one target for recently developed visual prostheses, it is much less studied compared to the retina and the visual cortex. In this paper, we introduce a deep learning encoder to predict LGN neuronal firing in response to different visual stimulation patterns. The encoder comprises a deep Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) that incorporates visual stimulus spatiotemporal representation in addition to LGN neuronal firing history to predict the response of LGN neurons. Extracellular activity was recorded in vivo using multi-electrode arrays from single units in the LGN in 12 anesthetized rats with a total neuronal population of 150 units. Neural activity was recorded in response to single-pixel, checkerboard and geometrical shapes visual stimulation patterns. Extracted firing rates and the corresponding stimulation patterns were used to train the model. The performance of the model was assessed using different testing data sets and different firing rate windows. An overall mean correlation coefficient between the actual and the predicted firing rates of 0.57 and 0.7 was achieved for the 10 ms and the 50 ms firing rate windows, respectively. Results demonstrate that the model is robust to variability in the spatiotemporal properties of the recorded neurons outperforming other examined models including the state-of-the-art Generalized Linear Model (GLM). The results indicate the potential of deep convolutional neural networks as viable models of LGN firing. © 2021, The Author(s).

With the development of IoT technology, various kinds of data are generated by IoT devices. Some of this data contains information on geographical location and time. We refer to such data as spatio-temporal data (STD). Since the 'local production and consumption' of STD is effective for location-dependent applications, we have proposed an STD retention system that utilizes vehicles as data sources. STD sources ranges from simple sensory data to large video data. However, since previous methods assumed to retain an STD consisting of only one packet, retention of large STD sources may suffer from frequent packet collisions due to the increase in the number of packet transmissions. In this paper, we propose a data completeness-aware transmission control mechanism for large STD retention. Our simulation results showed that the proposed scheme reduces channel collision by suppressing the forwarding of incomplete data, and achieved a nearly 100% coverage rate. © 2022 IEEE.

Electroencephalogram (EEG) data are susceptible to artifacts, such as lapses in concentration or poor imagination, which can significantly impact the accuracy of disease diagnosis in e-health applications. To mitigate this issue, the use of machine learning (ML) and potentially artificial intelligence (AI) solutions to accurately identify outliers becomes crucial. Unlike many AI methods that incorporate unnecessary or redundant input variables, our study focuses on detecting anomalous values in EEG data through the K nearest neighbor (KNN) process and Euclidean distance metric. Our proposed unsupervised non-parametric algorithm, known as the smart KNN outlier detector (SKOD), eliminates the need for initial parameter configurations such as the number of neighbors (K), while achieving high performance. Evaluation of SKOD using real EEG data from 140 trials demonstrated sensitivity and specificity exceeding 60%, with nearly perfect accuracy in detecting outliers reaching close to 100%. © Bharati Vidyapeeth's Institute of computer Applications and Management 2024.

CCPred: Global and population-specific colorectal cancer prediction and metagenomic biomarker identification at different molecular levels using machine learning techniques

Colorectal cancer (CRC) ranks as the third most common cancer globally and the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths. Recent research highlights the pivotal role of the gut microbiota in CRC development and progression. Understanding the complex interplay between disease development and metagenomic data is essential for CRC diagnosis and treatment. Current computational models employ machine learning to identify metagenomic biomarkers associated with CRC, yet there is a need to improve their accuracy through a holistic biological knowledge perspective. This study aims to evaluate CRC-associated metagenomic data at species, enzymes, and pathway levels via conducting global and population-specific analyses. These analyses utilize relative abundance values from human gut microbiome sequencing data and robust classification models are built for disease prediction and biomarker identification. For global CRC prediction and biomarker identification, the features that are identified by SelectKBest (SKB), Information Gain (IG), and Extreme Gradient Boosting (XGBoost) methods are combined. Population-based analysis includes within-population, leave-one-dataset-out (LODO) and cross-population approaches. Four classification algorithms are employed for CRC classification. Random Forest achieved an AUC of 0.83 for species data, 0.78 for enzyme data and 0.76 for pathway data globally. On the global scale, potential taxonomic biomarkers include ruthenibacterium lactatiformanas;enzyme biomarkers include RNA 2′ 3′ cyclic 3′ phosphodiesterase;and pathway biomarkers include pyruvate fermentation to acetone pathway. This study underscores the potential of machine learning models trained on metagenomic data for improved disease prediction and biomarker discovery. "Artificial lung" is a device that simulates breathing process of occupants in a room. This allows you to safely test, e.g., the impact of HVAC systems on the spread of pathogens. The paper describes the concept of the device, its construction and performed tests. The project was implemented by students of two faculties: Automatic Control, Electronics and computer Science, and Energy and Environmental engineering. Customer reviews on online platforms have grown to become an important source of insight into a company's performance. Food delivery services (FDS) companies aim to effectively use customers' feedback to identify areas for improvement of customer satisfaction. Although Arabic is becoming one of the most widely used languages on the Internet, only a few studies have focused on Arabic sentiment analysis to date. The present study conducts an extensive emotion mining and sentiment analysis on FDS-related reviews in Arabic, exploiting natural language processing, and machine learning techniques to extract information that reflects customers' subjective viewpoints, recognize their feelings, and determine polarity in the FDS domain. This work begins with collecting the FDS dataset (Talabat), and then extracting and creating a dialects lexicon for Arabic dialects, followed by walking the reader through detailed steps of cleaning and pre-processing a manually annotated dataset. Finally, we examined classification algorithms including Decision Tree (DT), and Support Vector Machine (SVM). We achieved a maximum accuracy of about 82% using the SVM classifier. © 2023 IEEE.
