In this paper, we propose a novel architecture for a multi-layer active-passive cascade transmitting reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS)-aided receiver. We aim at enhancing the scalability of antenna dimensions and energy efficiency for user equipment (UE), as well as improving the amplitude freedom of antenna gain. This architecture integrates reflecting RIS for applications in both jamming and anti-jamming scenarios. We formulate a problem to maximize the worst-case spectral efficiency (SE) of the UE, based on imperfect channel state information (CSI) of the malicious device, thereby ensuring the SE of our UE while disrupting the signal reception of the illegal UE. To address the inherently non-convex nature of the formulated problem, we propose an alternating optimization framework, which decomposes the main problem into several subproblems. Specifically, we uniformly discretize the uncertain domains to obtain robust CSI, allowing us to determine an optimal receiver vector. To balance computational complexity and performance, we propose solutions for the subproblems of base station beamforming and coefficients with different patterns of RIS. Furthermore, to effectively disrupt malicious inter-device communication while avoiding detection and localization, we develop a collaborative interference pattern incorporating silent interference and non-interference protocols. Importantly, the pattern carefully balances performance with the overhead of CSI acquisition. Finally, simulation results validate the efficiency of the proposed algorithms, demonstrating that the proposed architecture achieves better jamming and anti-jamming performance. © 2002-2012 IEEE.

The integration of software in the automotive industry has become increasingly complex and time-sensitive, necessitating the implementation of efficient tools. One such tool is the utilization of a generator. Over the past decade, the implementation of In-Vehicle-Infotainment systems has become ubiquitous, occupying a central position within vehicles. Another system present in vehicles is the Advanced Driver Assistance System. Despite their prevalence, these systems operate in isolation. However, the utilization of Android services and a service-client architecture can facilitate communication between disparate systems through the implementation of various service-client-based protocols. This study proposes the development of a generator for Android services that enable communication between Advanced Driver Assistance System systems through the use of CommonAPI proxy. The implementation of this generator will expedite the production process of code that integrates these independent systems. © 2023 IEEE.

This paper analyzes various algorithms for the automatic generation of electric power system one-line diagrams. Historically these one-line diagrams were created manually. As these diagrams can be large, their manual creation takes a lot of time and resources, and it is also prone to errors. One possible solution to this problem is the automatic generation of one-line diagrams. Automatic visualization can be performed by existing rule-based algorithms, or if the network is modeled by a mathematical graph, then the problem can also be solved by graph drawing algorithms. Initial results achieved with soft computing algorithms will also be shown. We discuss the similarities, differences and applicability of these different algorithms in automatic one-line diagram generation. The final goal is to find the most suitable algorithm for the automatic generation of visually pleasing one-line diagrams, which allow dispatchers and engineers working in control centers a higher level of efficiency in performing their everyday tasks. ©2010 IEEE.

Quality dimensions are: presentation-objective, presentation-subjective, and technical-objective. Each quality dimension is defined by a quality vector. The performance of a classification model depends not only on the algorithm by which the model is learned, but also on the training set. Manual annotation of the training data is a tedious and time consuming job. In order to overcome the problem of laborious hand-labeling of a large training set, a set of techniques called semisupervised learning was designed. Co-training is one of the major semi-supervised learning methods. Its setting applies to datasets that have a natural separation of their features into two disjoint sets. However, in the great majority of practical situations, the natural split of features does not exist. In this paper we propose the new co-training based algorithm which can be applied to such datasets. ©2010 IEEE.

Boundary-aware dynamic re-weighting for semi-supervised medial image segmentation

Different from traditional semi-supervised learning (SSL), semi-supervised medical image segmentation faces two significant challenges: (1) the imbalanced distribution of labeled data causes models to bias towards majority classes;(2) the distribution discrepancy between labeled and unlabeled samples induces confirmation bias in pseudo-labels. Inspired by clinical practice, where experienced doctors utilize intrinsic features from the interior of target organs to clarify ambiguous boundaries and focus on minority classes, we propose a novel boundary-aware dynamic re-weighting network (BDRN). First, we utilize edge filters to generate visually different but semantically aligned views, compelling two sub-networks to learn informative features from organ interiors and boundaries, respectively. Second, we extract the boundary and interior regions using morphological operators and introduce a shape constraint to enhance feature learning. Additionally, a conflict-adversarial module promotes segmentation consistency between different views. Finally, we propose a dynamic re-weighting strategy based on the effective number to improve attention to imbalanced classes. Experiments demonstrate that our method significantly improves segmentation performance, achieving state-of-the-art results on CT and MR images. Ablation studies further confirm the efficacy of boundary consistency constraints and dynamic re-weighting. The segmentation Dice score for minority organs (e.g., esophagus) on the Synapse dataset is improved by 17.1 %, 46.2 %, and 49.4 % using 10 %, 20 %, and 40 % labeled data, respectively. © 2025 Elsevier Ltd

The detection of spam reviews in multilingual environments remains a challenging task due to linguistic diversity, data imbalance, and semantic complexity. This paper proposes a novel hybrid model that integrates Twin Support Vector Machine (TwinSVM) with Harris Hawks Optimization (HHO) for simultaneous parameter optimization and feature selection. To enhance semantic understanding, sentiment-based features are incorporated alongside pre-trained word embedding models—BERT, FastText, and MUSE—across English, Arabic, and Spanish datasets. Our approach generates 24 high-quality datasets using embeddings with 100 and 400 dimensions, including a combined multilingual set. Experimental results demonstrate that our proposed HHO-TwinSVM model consistently outperforms conventional classifiers and metaheuristic-enhanced SVMs, achieving accuracy improvements of up to 9.44 % and enhanced robustness in low-resource languages. This integrated framework represents a scalable and adaptable solution for multilingual spam detection. Four detailed experiments were conducted in this study, each designed to address and demonstrate a specific aspect of the proposed approach. Across all experiments, the method outperformed existing algorithms, achieving impressive accuracy rates of 92.9741 %, 89.0314 %, 80.3580 %, and 85.0859 % on Arabic, English, Spanish, and multilingual datasets, respectively. Subsequently, sentiment analysis features were incorporated to further enhance detection performance, resulting in improvements of 1.0994 %, 2.6674 %, 9.4430 %, and 8.7448 %, respectively. A comprehensive analysis of the experimental results, including the influence of reviews and sentiment features, is also presented. © 2025 Elsevier Ltd

The COVID-19 pandemic demonstrated a profound inability of pre-pandemic passenger ship policies implemented by both ship operators and governmental authorities to detect and address newly emerging diseases. The essentiality of maritime transport puts into focus the risk of approach to address known and new emerging airborne infectious diseases that, due to increasing capacity, are likely to occur on passenger ships. In order to enhance the passenger experience, prepare shipping for pandemics like COVID-19, and improve the resilience and safety of the industry, this review critically synthesises existing literature on (1) monitoring ventilation conditions and aerosol dispersion, linking them to airborne transmission risk using airborne aerosols and ventilation performance as input parameters for computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations, and (2) modelling airborne disease transmission risk in controlled passenger ship environments. This review analysed 39 studies on aerosol monitoring, thermal comfort, and infection risk modelling on passenger ships (2000−2023). Additionally, 55 papers on CFD modelling of airborne pathogen dispersion were reviewed: 22 included validation, with most focused on built environments and only four specifically addressing ship environments. Two major challenges relate to the complexity and poorly characterised ventilation boundary conditions on passenger ships, and the other is the lack of suitable validation data. For this reason, ship experimental studies are required for CFD model validation. Only a handful of studies were found that have measured aerosol concentrations on board passenger ships. To the best of our knowledge, there have been no studies conducted on aerosol mass or airborne transmission sampling on board passenger ships or other types of vessels. Electrical stimulation and vibration stimulation are two most investigated interfaces for sending the information to humans. It is well known that change in electrical stimulation is not linearly related to the perception of sensation that humans feel. This paper presents the experiment along with results that investigate the relationship between change in electrical stimulation parameters (e.g. pulse frequency and pulse width) and perception of sensation on humans' skin. Our assumption is that human perception of the electrical stimulation improves as frequency rises (from 10 to 100Hz), (e.g. the resolution of perception rises). Psychophysics algorithms were used for both, finding minimal difference of sensation intensity (for different parameters) that humans can sense (Just noticeable difference), as well as data analysis. This research proved the assumption but also opened some new questions and gave us new ideas for future work. © 2015 IEEE.
